Will they or Won’t they .... I have not read any of the previous Steelheads books, but I have enjoyed the Sockeye's series by this author so I decided to give this a shot. With that being said, here are my opinions: I think Brett is overwhelmed when an accident occurs to the starting QB and he becomes the new QB. He's taken notes and planned plays his entire football career, but now he is the one executing and the first couple of games are frustrating. I think Estie has always been a people pleaser and does what others expect and/or want her to do, not what she wants to do. Brett opens her eyes to new things and standing up for herself, something she has never really done. Considering Estie is the sister of the injured QB, and a fellow teammates sister at that, Brett is unsure but his body and heart tell him to move forward. He has nightmares that he is afraid will frighten Estie away. She is technically engaged when they meet, but her fiance is a douche and needs a wake up call. So, will they make it work, or will Brett be heartbroken when Estie marries a douche?

Great read. What a fantastic book. I really enjoyed reading it and looking forward to reading the next one

A little rushed. I like the overall story but I think Brett’s declaration of love came way too quickly. It makes him seem desperate. Estie just gets out of a relationship and she declares her love for Brett. I think it needed to be stretched out some

Loved it!. I thought Hot Read was an amazing read. It was the first book I'd read in the Seattle Steelheads but will be catching up with the other books. It can be read as a stand alone. I loved how the author addressed PTSD in military men & of course as a dog lover (& Great Dane owner) I enjoyed the dogs in the story. Loved the cursing bird too HA I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Entertaining Read. I love my visits to Seattle and I love catching up with the sports teams Jami Davenport has created in the Seattle area and in book 5 of the Seattle Steelheads we get to know returned veteran Brett ( Gun) Gunnels and Estelle (Estie) Harris. When quarterback Tyler Harris gets injured it’s time for Brett to step up as backup quarterback, he needs to carry on where Tyler left off but that’s not an easy task and it’s going to take a lot of trust from the rest of the team as well as Brett learning to trust the calls he makes on the field. Brett needs someone to watch his animals when the team go on the road and it’s Tyler’s sister Estelle who comes to the rescue. What starts as an arrangement soon turns into a friendship but what will happen when Brett and Estie cross that line, what will happen when feelings come into play and will the baggage they both carry make or break them...... Hot Read will captivate you, it’s an emotional read with characters you will fall in love with, it will make you laugh and it will make you hold your breathe as Brett and Estie realise it’s not just friendship they crave. I could put this book down and I wanted more, a sure sign of a great read.

Entertaining. Returned veteran Brett (Gun) Gunnels is the back up quarterback for the Seattle Steelheads.When an injury puts Tyler Harris out of action, it’s finally Gun’s turn to step into the spotlight. When Estelle "Estie" Harris, Tyler’s sister is asked to help look after his animals whilst Brett is on the road with the team, a friendship is formed. One of the things that also added an additional layer to this story was how Tyler was invested in seeing Brett succeed as the quarterback. Going through the plays and spending hours boosting his confidence made this book just a little more special. I also loved how Estie was so supportive and encouraging of Brett. As friendship slowly turns into something more, will lines be crossed? I Both Brett and Estie have a lot of baggage that they are dealing with, particularly Brett and his PTSD. Can these two come to terms with their past and in doing so find the peace and happiness that they both deserve together? Hot Read, is at times an emotional roller coaster of a story. It was realistic, engaging and I was riveted from the first to the last page.
