2-2.5 Stars!. 2-2.5 Stars! Not a fan of this one. I think I missed something. I was very confused while reading this one. I’d say you COULD read it as a standalone but I wouldn’t recommend it. If you’ve read the previous books in series, the ‘Rogues to Riches’ series (this is book #6 in said series), you’d most likely enjoy this book more than I did. Other than feeling I missed the first few chapters, I also felt like an idiot because I had to Google the definition of a fair amount of ‘big words’. I understand that some of it was simply using historically correct language but I’d prefer the author ‘dumb it down’. Confusing, the feeling of missing the beginning of the story, sesquipedalian - long worded (yes, I looked up a ‘big word’ & hopefully used it correctly!), anti-climatic ending with main characters I wasn’t interested in & they had absolutely zero sexual chemistry and/or romance. That sums this book up. However I did enjoy the surprise revelation at the end. *I received this book at no charge from NetGalley & I voluntarily left this review.*

Love this series. I love this series. It is engaging and heartwarming. And through their trials, believable that their love WILL last. I dislike reading a romance novel when at the end you are in disbelief of any lasting love. Thank you for a thoroughly diverting novel.

OMG…. And not in a good way. I am at page 196 of almost 800 pages and this is as far as I can get. This is awful. It is scattered and jumbled and makes no sense what-so-ever. Perhaps one must start at the first book and read them in order instead of thinking the story is a stand-alone. However, neither of these characters is memorable. I can’t remember their names or keep the family straight, This is just not interesting enough to try to slog through another chapter hoping it gets better. Why would a strong, independent woman plan to fake her own death and run away? She basically gave up. Real people don’t succumb to bullies’ tactics. This is lame.

Love and strong women. I love this series. The women are strong and smart and the men smart enough to know it. The story line is complex enough to keep you guessing. I paced myself because I didn’t want it to end… but it did. Now I have to wait for next year.

My favorite. I’ve enjoyed the entire series Rogues to Riches, but this is definitely my favorite so far - mostly because I find Stephen to be a complicated and intriguing character. The whole story is filled with twists and turns; I couldn’t put it down!
