The Mistletoe Trap by Cindi Madsen Book Summary

From the moment Julie sees her best friend, Gavin, in the airport, it’s like no time at all has gone by. No matter how long they’ve been apart, their relationship has always been steady, comfortable, and decidedly “just friends.” Of course, that’s not stopping their meddling parents from hanging unlimited amounts of mistletoe everywhere she goes this holiday season.

Gavin is all too aware of their family’s matchmaking intentions. Still, he’s been happy to keep things in the friend zone. As the new starting quarterback for the San Antonio Mustangs, he’s got enough on his plate without adding romance to the mix.

But somewhere between dressing up as elves, nights watching com-coms, and heating things up in the town’s hot springs, Julie and Gavin wonder if they’ve landed right in the middle of a “reverse parent trap.” But falling for their parents’ scheming might involve one trap too many…

Each book in the Heart in the Game series is STANDALONE:

Holiday fun. The Mistletoe Trap was such a fun holiday read and definitely did the job of getting me in the holiday spirit!! I loved Julie and Gavin. They are the best of friends but I loved this wasn’t like most friends-to-lovers stories (my favorite!!) I usually read. This isn’t one of those books where these characters have been fighting the attraction for years and years and years. It was one of those organic growths of a relationship that I absolutely love with all of the typical ‘will this ruin what we have’ angst. I wasn’t at all a fan of either of their families since they seemed too toxic and enmeshed to ever come close to healthy but that didn’t stop me from truly enjoying this book and how Gavin and Julie ended up with their own HEA.

Fun read. 3.5 stars I love Cindi Madsen, holiday romance, sports heroes and friends to lovers romances. This book should be the perfect storm for me, and I liked it a lot, but a few things bugged me enough to make me set the book down a time or two. First off, I love Gavin and Julie but she has some serious lack of self esteem. I’m not sure if it’s a coincidence or just a new theme in romance, these women, like Julie, need to ignore their jerk face exes and own their wonderful selves! While I saw tons of friendship chemistry between these two, the insta-spark wasn’t very strong for me. Maybe it was because of their so-over-the-top moms and their constant pushiness. Honestly, it got annoying pretty quickly...like Hallmark movie annoying. If you like that sort of thing, you’ll love this book! The dialogue and humor is awesome and they seem like people I’d want to hang out and be friends with. But something was missing for me to take this story and put it in my love column. Still a good read from a favorite author.

Mistletoe Trap. Best friends Gavin and Julie have been each other’s person for as long as they can remember. Always being there for each other no matter where or when. Until things turn to more then friends. Great characters and fun banter while they discover there has always been something more there.

The Mistletoe Trap. A solid 10 gold stars!!!! LOVED IT! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This book was so hilariously funny that I had to stop at certain parts and get the giggles out! There were other times when a character was having an internal dialogue with them self that I really felt connected to them. I would have said the same "things" if I were in the situation. It was great. I really felt I was right there as the characters felts so real. I loved the dual POV format. Julie and Gavin grew up together as best friends. Their parents were best friends as soon as they met. The families were so close that they did a great deal together. The two mothers were a crack up with their shenanigans. Gavin is the QB for a NFL team, the Mustangs. Unfortunately he injured his shoulder and the team gave him extra time over the Christmas holiday to recover. Julie is a pathologist and lives in Arizona. The two don't see a great deal of each now face-to-face but talk, text and video chat almost daily. This coming together of two life long best friends is a MUST read for anyone over the age of 18. There is a sexy scene that may offend. If you don't mind, then I would highly recommend this Christmas themed friends-to-lovers. You will not regret it.

5 Stars for this laugh-out-loud romance!. Julie and Gavin have been best friends since they were in diapers. Now, he's a quarterback in the NFL and she's a pathologist and they live thousands of miles apart. Even though they still talk or Facetime almost every day, they don't get to see each other in person but a couple of days a year. But this Christmas they'll be able to spend a week together because he's on the injured list. Now all they have to do is dodge their parent's matchmaking, so that their friendship can stay intact. I just loved Julie ... she's such a nerd and has absolutely no filter! The predicaments she got herself into had me laughing out loud so hard that there were tears running down my face. And then there's Gavin ... I loved how he just got Julie and didn't make her feel like the nerd she was. This is a slow burn that you just know is going to be explosive when they finally give in. Everyone knew Julie and Gavin belonged together ... but Julie and Gavin. If you're looking for a good laugh ... I highly recommend this book! I received an early copy courtesy of Entangled Publishing through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

fun and flirty characters. THE MISTLETOE TRAP is the second full-length instalment in Cindi Madsen’s contemporary, adult HEART IN THE GAME romance series focusing on the players and management of the NFL’s San Antonio Mustangs. This is injured quarterback Gavin Frost, and pathologist Julie O’Neill’s story line. THE MISTLETOE TRAP can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Julie and Gavin) THE MISTLETOE TRAP follows the best friends to lovers relationship between quarterback Gavin Frost, and pathologist Julie O’Neill. Best friends since they were toddlers, Julie and Gavin never once crossed the proverbial line of friendship but with the approach of the Christmas holidays all bets are off when their meddling families push our couple together at every opportunity. From costumed elves to an evening of sexy cookie decorating, Gavin and Julie find themselves swirling in the aura of palpable sexual tension but when the parents try and set up Julie with the someone else, Gavin volunteers to teach Julie in the art of seduction, and stop her from blurting out about her most recent pathological examinations. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Gavin and Julie, and the potential fall-out as Gavin struggles between head and heart, and a life without the game that he loves. The relationship between Julie and Gavin is a best friends to lovers that struggles in the face of denial. Julie refuses to acknowledge there is something than friendship more between our couple as Gavin struggles to keep control of his desire for the woman that calls to his heart. As the parents continue to push the couple together, Julie and Gavin are either oblivious or reluctant to act on their attraction. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. The sexual chemistry is palpable and spirited. There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and fun secondary and supporting characters including ormer quarterback Lance Quaid and his fiancé Charlotte James (The Wedding Deal #1), as well as several team members including Jason Holt, and Coach Bryant; both Gavin and Julie’s meddling parents, and Gavin’s sister Niki ; family friend Kory Cohen; and a cameo appearance by Gavin’s ex girlfriend Kristen. THE MISTLETOE TRAP is a reverse take on Disney’s™ The Parent Trap with all of the hijinks and matchmaking schemes to push our couple together. An inter-racial love story wherein Gavin struggles with the potential fall-out of a long distance relationship, and Julie battles the heart break of losing her best friend. The premise is entertaining, engaging and inviting; the characters are fun and flirty; the romance is seductive and captivating.
