The Little Grave by Carolyn Arnold Book Summary

“I ended up devouring the entire book in just one sitting… I was completely pulled into this one and found myself completely unable to put this down.” Little Miss Book Lover 87, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It’s been five years since Detective Amanda Steele’s life was derailed by the tragic death of her young daughter. The small community of Dumfries, Virginia, may have moved on, but Amanda cannot. When the man who killed Lindsey is found murdered, she can’t keep away from the case.

Fighting her sergeant to be allowed to work such a personal investigation, Amanda is in a race to prove that she can uncover the truth. But the more she digs into the past of the man who destroyed her future, the more shocking discoveries she makes. And when Amanda finds the link between a silver bracelet in his possession and the brutal unsolved murder of a young woman five years ago, she realizes she’s caught up in something darker than she ever imagined and suspects that more girls could be in danger.

But as Amanda edges toward the truth, she gets closer to a secret as personal as it is deadly. Amanda has stumbled upon a dangerous killer, and she must face some terrible truths in order to catch this killer – and save his next victim as she couldn’t save her own daughter…

A gripping, page-turning thriller full of mystery and suspense. Perfect for fans of Rachel Caine, Lisa Regan and Robert Dugoni.

Love it!. It’s a book I couldn’t put down

Haidet. I didn’t like the main character at all, she’s not strong enough and she’s a drug attic. I don’t like that.

The Little Grave. Enjoyed the book and the characters in it! It’s interesting to read who the figure out who did it.

Loved the book. Can you pick yourself up after a terrible loss. You follow her as she works to do her job and try to keep herself from falling apart. You just can’t put the book down. The suspense is gripping.

Page turner!. I got this book because it was on the "suggested" list in my books app and it was fairly cheap so I figured "why not?" Boy am I glad I purchased it! And I'll be buying the rest in the series as well before the price shoots up! I never wanted to stop reading. The term "page turner" isn't even good enough. This book was amazing!

Couldn’t put it down. This book had me gripped from beginning to end. I’ve found it difficult caring about the detectives back story with other mystery/crime books but the way her story her case intertwined really made perfect sense and allowed me to care for the detective and her life just as much as I was rooting for her to solve the case. I definitely will look into other books within this series.

The Little Grave. Very good.

The Little Grave. I found the beginning sort of slow. Then it took off and I thought it was a really good read. Thanks k

Incredible. This is a great read full of suspense. There’s a lot of loss and death. The characters were fantastic and the story was a mystery until the end. I was surprised when the killer came forward. You never know how people react to loss.

Fine. As a read, it flows. As a story, there are so many leaps in logic, strange plot points and poorly researched elements (apparently, AA keeps first and last name lists of sober people. REALLY?) Decent beach read, glad it wasn’t expensive.

A gritty, fast-paced police procedural.. Carolyn Arnold has brought on quite the start to her latest, thoroughly addicting crime thriller, "The Little Grave." Once it gets started, it doesn't let up until the end. It's a gritty, fast-paced police procedural, and book one of the Detective Amanda Steele Series! Five and a half years after the tragic death of her husband and six-year-old daughter, due to the carelessness of a drunk driver, Detective Amanda Steele is face to face with the remains of their killer. Instead of stepping down due to the apparent conflict of interest, Amanda decides to push forward, hoping that she'll gain some closure by working on this case. What she ends up discovering goes far deeper than she could have ever imagined. I was immediately hooked; talk about an ominous first chapter. Author Carolyn Arnold has masterfully executed this book in a way that made me feel things down deep for Detective Amanda Steele. Thankfully I've never had to go through the suffering she has; Arnold's writing made her come alive - I felt so much pain and sorrow for Amanda, my heart breaking at every mention of her lost daughter and husband. While some books may spend a little too much time sinking their claws into the reader with a main character's back story, The Little Grave was right on point. The central murder case directly related to Amanda's past, making her history and the dark recesses of her mind all the more relevant. Factor in a couple of additional murders, as well as a twistedly dark subplot, and we've got a story that skillfully ties everything together while still managing to surprise! I look forward to reading the next installment in this series. I enjoyed the growing partnership between Amanda and Trent, Amanda's reconnection with her family, and the budding romance between Amanda and her new connection. This is another Bookouture book that I would hands down recommend to all of my crime thriller fans. Many thanks to NetGalley, the author Carolyn Arnold, and the publishers at Bookouture for my advanced copy of this ebook. I have honestly and voluntarily reviewed this title.

Passable. Well written but disappointed in ending.

Loved this book!. I could not stop reading this book even though I tried. Great story and characters. Only thing that bothered me was the no finality with the girls storyline but I’m guessing that’s another book. Look forward to reading it.

Fantastic read.. So well written, with many twists & turns so I couldn’t stop reading til the end. Love Carolyn Arnold’s books

Well Written. Dramatic until the end.

A great start to a new series. The Little Grave is a book that immediately appealed to me based on its author, Carolyn Arnold. A best selling and award winning author, I hadn’t read any of her books before, so when I was given the opportunity to read The Little Grave, I jumped at the chance. After the tragedy that forever changed Detective Amanda Steele’s life, when she lost her daughter and husband at the hands of a drunk driver, Amanda becomes faced with a case five years later when the body of the man responsible for the death of her family is found, appeared to have been murdered. Carolyn Arnold has put together a chilling tale that had me on the edge of my seat. It is gripping, intense and had me invested into its story and lead character straight off the bat. I was taken on such an emotional journey, I was exhausted when it was over. For me to feel like that, is a sign of a great book. I really enjoyed Amanda Steele’s character. She has been through so much and it is a wonder that she is able to put one foot in front of the other. She presents a hard front on the outside but, inside she is so broken. My heart went out to her. She is very complex and I look forward to more layers being peeled back as the series progresses. The Little Grave is a promising start to a new series. It is fast paced and so actioned packed, the pages just turned themselves in the lead up to the very unexpected conclusion. If you are a fan of crime thriller and police procedurals, you will want to give this one a read.

Series no longer available. It's the first book in a series that leaves you hanging. BUT the rest of the series is no longer available. Very disappointed.

The little grave. Amanda Steel went through big tragedy and five years later she is still suffering from it, but she is trying to do her job…

The Little Grave. Great characters, excellent plot building and stunning finale. Read this book.

Awesome New Series. I absolutely love this new series and characters. It had many twists and turns and kept me guessing to the very end. Can’t wait for the next instalment.

Great read. Best book I have read in a long time. Had me glued to every page of words.
