Magically Bound by Rachel Medhurst Book Summary
Witch, Warlock, Whatever…
My name's Devon Jinx, and, yes, I'm half warlock, half witch. But I couldn't care less about which kind of magic is better. All I want to do is keep my head down and get on with my new job as an investigator at the Hunted Witch Agency.
A recent, shall we say, mistake, has put me in place to inherit the leadership of the warlocks. Which means only one thing. I have a choice to make: Leave behind my life of witchery to become a warlock, or lose my warlock magic forever.
Complicating my choice is the fact that someone is trying to destroy the warlock coven. If I don't stop them, the warlocks will be annihilated. The task seems impossible until Gerard Freshwater, a distractingly handsome witch, explodes into my life. He's determined to make me see that being a witch isn't just the best option, but the only option.

Interesting beginningDevon Jinx is a unique being born half witch and half warlock. Tragedy has snapped her life until one day she decides it’s time to find her purpose. So she goes to work for the Hunted Witch Agency. Her mission to help find the people kidnapping witches and draining them. I very much enjoyed Devon and her sense of humor. She’s a breath of fresh air in the midst of a dark case the agency tries to unravel. Very good beginning to a series..Score: 4/5
Magically BoundDidn’t love it. Didn’t hate it. The plot was pretty linear and the story would benefit from more showing and less telling, particularly when trying to get readers to empathize with characters. While I appreciate the author’s attempts to highlight mental health, the underlying reasons for concern aren’t explored to any real depth. I understand a number of things may have been left intentionally vague to be covered later in the series, but it’s at the price of not giving readers much to work with for the duration of this book. There isn’t a real conclusion, ending like the end of a chapter with the next book starting like it’s the next chapter..Score: 3/5
