Shadows of Fire (The Shadow Realms, Book 1) by Brenda K. Davies Book Summary

When the invitation to the Gloaming arrives, Lexi can’t believe that she, a half vampire, has been invited to enter the dark fae realm.

Her first trip to a Shadow Realm isn’t one she’ll soon forget once she meets Cole, a dark fae prince.

Fresh from the war that ravaged the mortal realm and devastated his family, Cole is struggling to piece his life back together when he encounters Lexi. He has always identified more with his dark fae side, but when her presence awakens the lycan part of him, Cole is unable to resist his attraction to her.

When the hostile tension between the different immortals erupts, Lexi flees the Gloaming for the mortal realm. Once home, she’s certain she’ll never see Cole again. She’s proven wrong when tragedy strikes. Lexi is unable to turn Cole away... even if helping him puts her in danger.

Can their growing love survive the cruelty of the Shadow Realms, or will they be the next to fall?

Enter the Shadow Realms. A world where vampires feast, lycans love deeply, dark fae seduce, witches cast their spells, dragons rule the skies... and treachery lurks around every corner.

Fantastic world building, terrible editing. I really wanted to give this book more stars because the world building is great but the editing in this was horrendous. There were full paragraphs that could have been pared down because the same thing was essentially repeated twice and the author seriously needs another word other than “bolt” (you’ll see what I mean). Oh, and the whole “I can fix him and make him better” trope made me gag. All that said, I now have to read the second one after the massive cliff hanger 😂

Loved it!. This author has two pen names Brenda K Davies and Erica Stevens. Here books are epic no matter what she is writing about and she always blows me away! Her writing is so smooth that is flows from one chapter to another with ease. This book has DRAGONS in it!!! I have a love for dragon! She introduces many different characters in this series and I can not wait to get my hands on the next book! I can’t wait to see what these strong characters will be doing in the next book. Brenda takes different worlds and combines them with ease and its so really I can actually see it happening. Can not wait to see what happens in the next book with Cole and Lexi. He is knows Lexi is his mate, but he could not do anything about it with everything else going on. This introduction was good, but the next book I have no doubt will be better!

I love her other books.... I absolutely love her other books but this one... I’m probably just being picky but when she went into Harry Potter is where I started to lose interest and while I was reading I kept thinking about other characters that were “temporarily forgotten.” I also hate the type of cliff hanger it had. Everything just seemed so rushed and not enough about other characters. I do buy these books to get some adult content but adding kids titles into it, the slow moving story, the missing/reappearing characters... this wasn’t the greatest of her stories to start off with. I do like her characters though, but a lot of repeat about their past stories! I do hope the next book is better, if not, not worth getting the rest of them. Which is sad because this is the first book I really just didn’t love. It’s a book I like, as in: if I want to read something I rather re-read other books two to three times before thinking about re-reading this one.

If you’ve finished all the. “Court” books and are suffering Rom/Fan withdrawal, here is a suitable replacement.

You don’t want to miss reading this series!. AMAZING! This is the first book in a new series and it was fantastic! I could not put the book down! From start to finish I kept wondering what was going to happen next. I feel in love with the main characters and I was swept up in the imagery created in the book. This is a must read, you will be left wanting more!

Couldn’t finish it. This story lacks much structure within the plot and moves very slow. I felt most of the book was spent in their house and it was just filler content and dialogue? I found it boring and lacking much substance. Also, it is very poorly edited and over uses certain words like “gulped”.

Dark fae, lycans, vampires, witches and dragons oh my!. Dark fae, lycans, vampires, witches and dragons! This book has it all! I’m excited for this new series. It’s full of some heavy steam courtesy of our broody but sexy dark fae lycan prince Cole as he sets his sights on beautiful and innocent vampire human Lexi. I’m very curious how Cole is going to handle his lycan now that his wolf demands to be heard after all these years. It’s only a four star to me because I feel like there was some repetition that got a bit tedious. But overall the book is fantastic and I loved it. It’s a great start to a new series and I’m excited to see how it all plays out.

Worth the read. Pretty good, interesting plot. Needs a considerable amount of editing. Good chemistry between the FMC and MMC

Just read it!. This book was amazing! I will say it started off a little slower, was extremely (almost to much) detailed but as you got closer to the end you understand why you needed the backstory. I immediately bought book 2 as soon as I finished because I need to know more (or the close?) of Lexi and Coles story, as well as what happens to the other brothers. You will not be disappointed

Amazing and Entertaining. The story line is so strong and the character development is great. Can’t wait to read book 2

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I am so glad I stumbled upon this series! The first book was free, so I gave it a shot and haven’t been disappointed in the least! The imagination, writing and detail that has gone into this series is perfection. She doesn’t charge near enough for these books! Each book gets better and better and impossible to put down. I can’t wait for the fifth book to come out in August! Definitely for mature audiences only… the spice is delicious throughout the series.

Fabulous. Leaving,wanting more.

Love this book. Great beginning!. I absolutely loved this story. It drew me in from the first page. Characters are well developed. The love story develops slowly. As it should. The characters you are destined to hate, made me hate them. Sign of a great tale. I can’t highly recommend this story to everyone. Go, buy it, weekend is here. Stay cool and read. You’re welcome.

Love the book. Only disappointment is both main actors repeat themselves in the story. The character description is repetition

SHADOWS OF FIRE. 😍

When things change. This book was a new adventure for me. You are going to want to take in all this book has to offer. lycans, vampires, fae, witches and dragons all in this book with a little mix of everything else I am sure I am forgetting. All fighting for a new world. Both sides have good points but are determined to take down everyone that gets in their way. We don't even want to talk about Lord. He is top butt in this whole thing. Causing mayhem and it doesn't seem anyone can stop him. We get to know Lexi. Sheltered and not knowing to much of the world. Father passing and now she is learning that she is going to have to grow up more then she ever has and make some hard choices that will effect the rest of her life. Lexi and her aunt get invited to a ball in the shadow realm and things take another turn. Cole, the prince, can't seem to keep thinking of Lexi. Are the fated to be together? We don't know because there is chaos at the ball and everyone goes back home. Coming around to everything is going crazy at home for Lexi. She has a lot going on. She finds someone that needs her help. Should she help them? Then Cole is on her home turf looking for his brothers. In the middle of all that he ends of being closer then she is prepared for. The world is in danger and people are dying everywhere. The dragons are blowing everything up and there doesn't seem to be an end to this madness. I marked as a four star because there was a lot of information. The first half was a lot of explaining to the story. There was some repeating that can get a little annoying. I chalked it all up as setting the foundation for other books. The book as a whole was great and I can't wait to see how the secret new development is going to effect Lexi.

Another great read by Brenda K Davies. This book is amazing! The author is so skilled at building this new world and these characters. It has you on the edge of your seat as you turn the pages. When I got to the end I was so sad! I didn’t want to have to stop and wait for the next book! Those are the gifted storytellers who can craft such a tale that it pulls you in and immerses you and you don’t want to come out!

Vampires, Lycabs, Witches, Humans and Dragons. Oh my!. Be prepared. Cole - prince - dark fae/ Lycan Lexi - human/ Vampire What us humans don’t know is we share our world with witches, fae, Lycan and Vampires. Did I mention Dragons? Each species has different realms, but of course the human world has them all. This book starts with an invitation to a party and let me tell you from there on you will be off on an adventure of love, sword fights, betrayal, death, heart ache, human kindness, and yeah Dragons. A must read. Book 2 is now available for preorders, and it’s a must. Amazing book, incredible read and enchanting new world

Best combos of fantasy characters. Thoroughly enjoyed the combinations of vampires, Lycans, Faes, and dragons. Gave me GoT vibes. Loved it! Can’t wait to read the next!

Wow...she’s done it again!!. This story has twists and turns and keeps you on your toes! I want more already and I couldn’t put it down!!

Page turner!!. An amazing story with a perfect combination of suspense and romance! Brenda K. Davies’s style and story telling has made her one of my absolute favorite authors. Shadows of Fire was a definite page-turner that left me wanting more. I can’t wait to read more about Lexi and Cole’s story in this series!

LOVE THE NEW SERIES.. Absolutely loved this book especially from Brenda, a wonderful start to a new fantasy series. Enjoyed it so much.

Close but not quite. The story was good and the characters interesting but I couldn’t reconcile sword fighting And all the fantasy with tv, Harry Potter and modern conveniences. It just didn’t seem right. Not sure I’ll continue with the series

Amazing new start. Man I loved everything Brenda k Davies has ever written so when I found out she has written a new series I was excited ... she hit this one out of the park like wow what a story and an amazing beginning to a new series .. She blew my mind with this one, which honestly is nothing new which is why she is in my top favourite authors. So yes for me it ticked all the boxes, there were Lycans, Vampires, Witches, Dragons and so much more. Bring on the next instalment....

Imagination plus. Great read, I enjoyed it.

Shadows of Fire. Loved this book. Brenda always enthrals us with her stories. Have to say I was shocked with the ending and can’t wait for the next book. And without giving too much away can’t wait for revenge/justice.

Just get it. Really good first book, it stars slow as introduced the characters but then starts catching up fast. Can’t wait to start the second book.

A good start.. I enjoyed the first booked in this series and I’m looking forward to moving on to the second. As another reviewer mentioned, it starts slow (but not boring) as the author builds the world and introduces the characters and their backstories. The second half of the book has much more action and romance. This books ends on a cliff hanger and the next installment will be a direct continuation of the first.
