Bloodless Book Reviews
Bloodless by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child Book Summary
INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER: Agent Pendergast faces his most unexpected challenge yet when bloodless bodies begin to appear in Savannah, GA.
A fabulous heist:
On the evening of November 24, 1971, D. B. Cooper hijacked Flight 305—Portland to Seattle—with a fake bomb, collected a ransom of $200,000, and then parachuted from the rear of the plane, disappearing into the night…and into history.
A brutal crime steeped in legend and malevolence:
Fifty years later, Agent Pendergast takes on a bizarre and gruesome case: in the ghost-haunted city of Savannah, Georgia, bodies are found with no blood left in their veins—sowing panic and reviving whispered tales of the infamous Savannah Vampire.
A case like no other:
As the mystery rises along with the body count, Pendergast and his partner, Agent Coldmoon, race to understand how—or if—these murders are connected to the only unsolved skyjacking in American history. Together, they uncover not just the answer…but an unearthly evil beyond all imagining.

Bloodless. Fantastic(as usual)
This is not the best of Pendergast.. I miss the older books that had more action in them. The plot was so so. Ending predictable.
Loved it. Such a weird story but I loved it! Whoooo what an ending.
Good read. Great Pendergast book, just like the rest. Definitely wasn’t expecting the ending they did and I’m not sure if I liked it, but it was a very enjoyable book
Uyuyuyuyuyuyuyuyuyuyuyuy. I like the words that’s there, i really think they look better.
Bad, obvious attempt at being woke. I normally love P&C books- all are 4 to 5 stars, and I’ve read them all in order of publication; they always entertain. This newest one, however, seems more like an attempt to cash in on the trend of being ‘woke’ instead of staying true to their story telling roots..Pendergast grew up on a plantation, has more money (old money at that) than anyone can guess and is making comments on a different plantation being built by evil because of the time it was built in; seems hypocritical and very uncharacteristically a normally non political character. Adding in the ‘me too’ commentary and other attempts at current topics makes it seem like it is trying too hard rather than focusing on telling a good story. Go back to what you guys do best and leave out the politics, it seems insincere and desperate.
Over the top. Unusual ending. The end ofPendergast?
Sad sad state of affairs. I have read all of douglas preston and lincoln child books. This a very disappointing audiobook between the fake southern accents and trying to sound like a southern bell. The whole book chatter about filming ghost stories and fights in posh restaurants college kids naked blood worshiping in a church I have not even made half way and probably won’t. Why is constance greene so involved now? These fine gentlemen have wondered off the path. I do hope they don’t screw up Corrie Swanson series.
Please stop writing -KILL PENDERGAST ALREADY!!. I really enjoyed the first couple of Pendergast novels especially cabinet of curiosities and the like. It was diabolical but believable. But now, I guess they have plumbed the limits of human iniquity because now we have to go to other universes and very unbelievable places. Binary suns on biblical salt plains. And of course a doomed love… 🤮 Multi dimensional travel-check, unnatural lifespans- check, multicultural sidekick- check, unlimited wealth for the main character and whomever else he wants to set up like a millionaire- check, convenient yet easily thwarted foil of a politician who receives his comeuppance- check, that is in their world. Pfagh!! For the first time in my life, I found myself wishing the hero and all of his party dead. Absolutely would have thought it was fabulous if the hero had died in this one but, no… Of course not. And now they’re off again, no bloody thank you gentlemen. Also your frat boy slang is a bit repulsive. Take it to a time machine (again), multi dimensional travel (again), string theory, whatever. Remember you destroyed the machine before you could bring her back! Or maybe not. Like I care. I’m never reading any of their work again. It is…very tedious to read. Save yourself. Fin.
Great Read. Always enjoy reading a Pendergast book
Loved it.. I have read every book in this series and I think this book is my favorite in the series in a long time. I haven’t read one of Preston and Child’s books in a long time and I forgot what good writers they are. This was a fun and quick read. Very fast paced, nice short chapters. And Pendergast is his usual likable self here. I loved this book.
Bloodless. I love all of the Pendergast books, and this is no exception! I now live in Savannah and the authors did a wonderful job of capturing the beauty of this city! I do hope there will there will be many more books with Pendergast and that they will include Coldmoon who brings his Native American culture with him! I also hope that in some way Constance will make her way to Pendergast… she is such an intriguing character! To the authors I say thank you for so much for the Pendergast series as they helped me get through the past 2 years of the pandemic and kept my mind busy and brought me joy! TBJ
Bloodless. Although I love Agent Pendergast and company, this was a bit far fetched premise. Seems like everyone has gone back to their calling(s); end of Pendergast?
Bloodless. It is a very disappointing novel; the richness of Pendergast’s character is wasted. He deserves more than being pitted against other world (universe) creatures. I’ve never taken so long to read a Pendergast novel; it was as if I didn’t care what would happen next.
great book but 1 concern. I have enjoyed every single Pendergast book but i am vexed over one thing. once again they have felt the need to kill a dog. Weird thing to point out i realize, but it has happened in many of their books. Odd….
Pendergast never fails to entertain!. Love these novels so much! The characters are so interesting and unconventional! The plot keeps you hooked and I couldn’t put this one down. Love the development of the underlying love story of Pendergast and Constance. Can’t wait to read the next one!!!
Another Smashing Great Read. Preston and Child have done it once again! Great plot twist that tickles the imagination, and peaks one’s curiosity into the what-if ‘s…!!
Best of the best. The Pendergast books are head and shoulders above almost everything else of recent vintage. This is, for me, the best of the Pendergast books. Quite extraordinary. It deepens our understanding of Pendergast, Coldmoon, and the enigmatic Constance Greene, and — however faintly — hints at the possibility of more.
