Once she decides to go for it, it’s only a matter of months before she’s chosen as a gestational carrier by Chip and Donovan Rigsdale, a married couple from New York.
After delivering twin babies and proudly handing them off to the Rigsdales, Maggie finally gets her life on a positive trajectory: she earns her degree, lands a great job, and builds a family of her own. She can’t fathom why, ten years after the fact, the fertility clinic is calling to ask for a follow-up DNA test.

He Gets That From Me. First time reading this author, and not my usual type of book to read. However, it is a very thought provoking book, with strong sympathetic characters , concerning a subject that I would have never thought possible. I would never want to find myself in the situation these characters found themselves in. But one thing I do know, the child’s best interests should always come first.
Enjoyable but heavy. I liked the book, but be aware that it covers a fairly complex situation with a good deal of angst.
Held your attention. Thouroughly enjoyed this unique book!
Right or Wrong?. The author sets up a possible scenario, who does the infant belong to - gestational surrogate or donor? The case was presented well, arousing empathy for all concerned. No doubt the legal decision could be debated from many angles. The ending chosen by the author was not one of my choosing, but it gave much to consider. Believable dialogue with realistic interaction between two gay men, written by a non-gay woman. Great debate material.
