Waylaid by Sarina Bowen Book Summary
It’s a tale as old as time: the bad boy meets the good girl. He makes a daring proposition. Then the boy gets a mysterious head injury and loses a year of his life…
The first time I meet Rickie, I don’t know what to make of him. The second time we meet, he doesn’t remember the six hours we spent together. Or standing me up afterward.
I’m not the same, either. I’ve got secrets. I’ve told lies. Bad boys aren’t my type, anyway. Even the ones with seductive gray eyes.
But now we’re roommates. Cue the awkward moments in the hallway when he’s wearing only a towel and a smile. He’s determined to win me over, and his talented hands weaken my resolve.
It’s all fun and games until my past rears its ugly head and his secrets come to light, shaking our fragile connection, maybe even breaking it…
Note: this is Daphne Shipley's story. Contents include Vermonty ice cream flavors, nerdy awkwardness, tattoos, and a playboy grandpa.

Another great book in the True North Series!Still haven’t found a True North book I have’t loved. Daphne and Rickie’s story was no exception! I admired Rickie’s confidence and his upbeat outlook on life in spite of what happened to him. This was one of the more interesting stories in the series, and so intricately woven. I loved diving back into the Shipley/Rossi family and their incredible dynamic! *I received an ARC prior to release in exchange for my honest review..Score: 5/5
More Shipleys! My obsession with Sarina Bowen and the Shipley Family grows with every book. Zachary Webber is the perfect Ricky: insanely confident, funny, and emotionally vulnerable. His narration completely brought Ricky to life and when the big twist came, I was a sobbing mess. Callie Dalton is Daphne Shipley, complex, a little mysterious, and a lot brave. These two break your heart but their story is amazing and beautiful. I’ll never get enough of the Shipley family!.Score: 5/5

WaylaidWaylaid by Sarina Bowen Back we go to the Shipley farm and to The story of Daphne and Rickie. I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy this book as Daphne hasn’t been one of my favorite characters so far in this series but I shouldn’t have worried as Rickie’s personality really stole the show and made the book a lot more enjoyable than I’d anticipated. Rickie and Daphne had met some time ago and enjoyed a mild flirtation but when they meet again, Daphne is mortified that Rickie doesn’t seem to remember her at all, not realizing that Rickie has lost a year of his memory - including meeting Daphne. And now they’re forced in close proximity as roommates on the Shipley farm where Rickie is helping out over the summer. Overall this was a great book. I even came to like Daphne as I got to know her better and learn what made her how she was. I loved Rickie - he was cheeky, funny, sexy. My heart went out to him time and again and I was so happy he got the answered he needed and could move on with his life and with Daphne. *I voluntarily read an early copy of this book. **Reviewed by Melinda for Joandisalovebooks Blog..Score: 4/5
EntertainingThis is the eighth book and was a great addition to the True North series. The narrators Zachary Webber and Callie Dalton did a good job bringing this story to life for me. They were easy to listen to with pleasing voices that did justice to Rickie and Daphne’s characters. Daphne and Rickie have history, although brief, thanks to the accident that caused Rickie to lose a year of his life thanks to an accident. This was at times emotional as Rickie struggled. Daphne wants to forget the past, but Rickie wants to remember. Can they both come to terms with the past and in doing so move on or will it all be too hard? It wouldn’t be a True North book without interference from family members and this one is no exception. Waylaid was emotional, funny, sweet and well written with characters that are likeable and easy to relate to, even if they were frustrating at times. All the feels4.5 Stars for Waylaid (True North #8) Audio Review This is a wonderful addition to the True North Series, I love my visits to Vermont but this visit was a bit different this time I was listening rather then reading so would i feel the same, would I still feel like I was home visiting friends, off course I did because Zachary Webber and Callie Dalton did a wonderful job bringing this story to life. Rickie and Daphne have a brief history but an accident leaves Rickie with amnesia and he can’t remember the short time they spent together, he feels there is a connection and he is struggling to understand Daphne is so upset with him. She wants to forget and he desperately needs to remember so can they both come to terms with the past and rebuild a future……. This book has it all, bad boy falls for good girl, sizzling chemistry, wonderful characters, secrets, passion, laughter, heartache, love and who could forget the wonderful meddling from the kind hearted family members because it wouldn’t be a True North book without that..Score: 5/5
