The Mister by E L James Book Summary

The #1 New York Times bestseller—a thrilling and seductive Cinderella love story from E L James, author of the phenomenal bestselling Fifty Shades Trilogy.

Clasping her plait at the base of her neck, I tug lightly, bringing her lips up to mine. "Alessia," I breathe, and kiss her again, softly, slowly. She stills in my arms, then brings her hands up to clutch my biceps, closing her eyes as she accepts me. I deepen the kiss, my tongue teasing her lips, and she opens her mouth. She tastes of warmth and grace and sweet seduction.

London, present day. Life has always been easy for Maxim Trevelyan, the "spare" to the earldom of Trevethick. With his good looks, aristocratic connections, and money, he's never had to work, and he's rarely slept alone. But all that changes when tragedy strikes and Maxim inherits his family's title, wealth, and estates, and the responsibility that entails. It's a role he's not prepared for and one he struggles to face.

But his biggest challenge is fighting his desire for an unexpected, enigmatic young woman who's recently joined his staff. Reticent, beautiful, and musically gifted, she's an alluring mystery, possessing little more than a dangerous and troublesome past. As Maxim's longing for her deepens into a passion he's never experienced and dares not name, he's left to wonder just who is Alessia Demachi? And can he protect her from the malevolence that threatens her?

From the heart of London through wild, rural Cornwall to the bleak, forbidding beauty of the Albanian Balkans, The Mister combines the sensuality of a modern Regency romance with the danger, desire, and adventure of E L James's captivating storytelling, leaving the reader breathless to the very last page.

Good. I thought it was a good and hoping there was a 2nd one. But I’m guessing there isn’t one which is a shame. I hated the way it ended! Other then it was pretty decent

review. another awesome book by EL James. I couldn’t put the book down if at all. Highly recommend.

Captivating yet family. This book kept my interest. Though I did find some similarities to her other books. I have say I would still read sequel to this book of was written.

Loved it!. This author is one of my favorites. I love this book and all her others. I can’t wait for the 2nd in the series! Keep those creative juices flowing! We appreciate you !

Two-percent of the world’s population have that eye color.. I have now read all of EL James books and love both her character development and how the story line moves forward. Wasn’t sure I would like “The Mister,” as the title and description didn’t quite catch for me, but I wanted to read a book by an English author talking about her own country, and I was hooked from the beginning. Loved bringing in history from another country, and the fact that Maxim had green eyes-very rare (like grey eyes).

Couldn’t finish it.. I only made it halfway through the book and it took me 2 weeks. All I could think was that Maxim is a “douche” with no redeeming qualities. The writer told us what a narcissistic sleezeball he was constantly. The female lead or “Cleaner” was written with so many inconsistencies that I couldn’t get interested in her or believe her story. I also hated switching from the story being written from his perspective to a third party. I really wanted to like this book because I enjoyed Fifty Shades, but sadly I regret the waste of money on his book I will never finish reading.

Waiting for sequel. Good book. Different twist. Good read. Looking forward to the sequel.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. It is a fresh look at life and love. Accomplished people looking for normalcy.

It’s a must Read!. I’m a huge fan of the Fifty Shades Series. Once I saw EL James came out with another book I had to read it. I love this story. It was a different story line. What I loved most was that they incorporated an Albanian culture. I love when authors explore other religions and countries. It was a beautiful story.

Good. Good, but was expecting a little more. Definitely will read the next to see what happens

It’s alright. I had high expectations of this book , because E L James wrote 50 shades . It wasn’t my favorite, the story line was nice , easy to read, but a lot of the steamy parts were way rushed, and almost awkward to read. Also I think she could have went more into detail with the trafficking, along with the incident in Albania . Ended very stupid , especially knowing it’s not a series .

It’s just ok. There are parts that are really stretched out that could have been shorter. This could be a single book.

The mister. EL James has done it again she makes me believe these characters are real and takes us on emotionally charged coasters that transport us to the places with the characters rooting for them. This would also make a fine movie! Her description of the places are so vivid that I think I’m recognising places as she writes about them . Definitely had to preorder the next as this is the must read that needs to be in everyone’s personal library

Completely breathtaking!. I felt every emotion possibly! I finished this book in ONE day, it’s worth the read!

Emotional rollercoaster . . . And lots of unanswered questions.. I really liked how Maxim is a man of action. BUT - I have so many questions: Are these Trevelyans related to Christian Grey’s mother, Grace and her family? Is M.A. dating Ethan Kavanaugh? And Caroline reminds me of Mrs. Robinson with improper relationships - also both with blonde hair. Lots of unanswered questions here, and hoping they are answered in the 2nd installment of this series.

Liked It Until It Ended Abruptly. This book isn’t a series, but it ends like it’ll be continued in the next book. I enjoyed reading it, but the end was stupid and there is a lot of info missing. Maxim expressed distrust towards his brothers right hand. What happened with that? Both Maxim and Caroline think the brother actually committed suicide. Did he or did he not? If he did, why? Not answered. What about Caroline’s actions? Is she a would be villain? Not implied, but she wasn’t likable and her story was never brought to light, but she was in the book A LOT. Kinda bitter about there not being a continuation of the story. This deserves a 2nd (and maybe even 3rd) book to settle all the lose ends.
