The Runaway. I’ve read all of the Peter Ashe books. They move like a speeding freight train from start to finish. Having been a Veteran Service Officer for many years it still saddens me how many vets won’t reach out for the help available to them. Here in Iowa there is a Veterans Affairs office in every county. Last time for me. Slow start. Redundant action episodes. Not up to previous offerings. Doubt I’ll read the next.

Petrie’s best yet. A finale near what little is left of what little there was of Circle, Montana? My parents were born there, met there, my earliest summers spent there. I never expected to see its name in writing again, especially penned by one of my favorite authors. This book is exceptionally well-written, from the “hook” of the story, to technical precision, to the high-art necessary to show subtle psychological evolution in characters without seeming contrived, stereotypical, or “breaking the fourth wall.”

The runaway was one of the best books I’ve read in a while.. Loved this book. I’m going to look for the others that he has written!

Darker than normal. Good book in the series. Got my attention from the start. Would have liked more of Peter, Lewis, and June but the story was fast paced. Dark and sad because things like this actually happen. Looking forward to the next in the series.
