Worst romance ever!. This book made me, not only want to quit reading romance novels, but it also made me want to be celibate forever. I hate rape fantasies! They are disgusting and mock the pain the victims go through. Don’t read this book! I like stories about people overcoming abuse but in this story the abuse is just perpetuated in a sick, twisted circle. No one gets better, no one heals, and there isn’t a shred of happiness despite what the title says. Worst romance ever!!!

Cliffhanger literally. Two commanding characters but quite the fantasy. I did not realize until end of the book that it was 1 in a series. Quite disappointing.

Fable of Happiness. Wow. Not what I was expecting AT ALL. Despite the cliffhanger (literally) I enjoyed this oddly erotic, lost in the woods story.

What a ride!. What a ride! This will definitely take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Go in blind and prepare to FEEL! The ending will have you begging for more! Another fantastic beginning to a new dark series by Pepper Winters.

You will NOT put it down. August, 3rd cannot come soon enough! This is a different kind of alpha, one that tugs at your heartstrings. This damsel takes distress and turns it on its head! Winters continues to amaze me with such poignant character revelation and storylines. Rereading now!

Such an intriguing start to the Fable series!. Pepper has always been my go to author when I want to completely immerse myself in another world. She has brought us some of my most favorite characters, ever. Her storytelling is fantastic, her characters intense, her ability to evoke emotions unparalleled. She's back once again with a new series that I already know is going to pull her readers in and hold them captive until the very last word. Kas is a very intriguing character, and I am dying to get under his skin and learn all his dark secrets. It is very obvious that a lot has happened to him, we just don't have all of his story yet. He's been living like a hermit in a mansion hidden in the middle of a national park. Why has he been out there all by himself for so long? Gemma is this ray of sunshine type of girl that luck always seems to favor. Until the day she treks through the forest looking for some mystical boulder she's determined to climb. She stumbles into Kas's valley, into his house, and her luck suddenly changes when he takes her as a captive. At this point, being it's the first book, I haven't really formed a connection to either of the characters, but knowing Pepper, I will soon fall in love with them both. There's just still so much that needs to be fleshed out, and I am absolutely dying for the rest of their story!! The hints we've gotten so far at things that have occurred in Kas's past has me super intrigued. The storytelling is brilliant, the emotions are all encompassing, as I would expect from Pepper. I need book 2, now!

I couldn’t put this book down!. Yeah!!!! Dark Romance is real! It’s not for everyone but for those that do!! Pepper Winters is the Queen of Dark Romance!! I couldn’t stop reading Fable of Happiness once I started. This book is from both perspectives of Gemma and Kassen. You get to see inside both of their heads and feel their emotions. It is a clear game of cat and mouse. Gemma stumbles upon Kassen’s hidden home. Gemma tries to break free but Kassen doesn’t want his secret revealed. This book does end with a cliffhanger! But it is worth the read!

Can I have more stars?. I don’t have the words to describe how much I loved this book. It’s dark, twisted, suspenseful, emotional, and unexpected. That ending had me screaming, didn’t expect that one at all. As always I love everything by Pepper and cannot wait for the next book to be released.

Phenomenal!!. WOAH!!! Once again Pepper Winters vividly describes engrossing scenes and gives us captivatingly tortured characters that capture the imagination! The scenes in this story play in my head like a movie! I’m totally enraptured and completely entranced. I absolutely love her ability to spin her words into intriguing tales of utter fascination and raw emotions. I’m speechless over what I just read. One word, phenomenal! I can’t wait for Book Two in this series.

Great plot! Sucked me right in…. This one sucked me in! I did not think I would like it, dark romance is not really my thing, but I could not stop reading. Very well written and an intensely interesting story. I cannot wait for the next release in August!

Eh. Honestly, I couldn't wait for this book to be over. The most compelling parts are when you get to learn more about Kassen, but that's about it. The romance and dialogue are really predictable and generic. I was hoping to like this book but it just wasn't there.

Edgy and not for everyone but great!. I loved this book, the writing, the different perspectives, everything!

Promising start!. This is the first book in trilogy following Gemma and Kassen. Gemma, a sucesseful rock climber, got lost while searching for her next rock to conquier, and accidentally winds up in front of a long forgotten and hidden mansion in the middle of nothing. Kassen has lived by himself for over a decade, and when Gemma stumbles upon his property he takes her as his prisoner. Gemma is prepared to do anything to survive and escape, but Kassen is determined to keep Fable and its secrets hidden from the world. The book started a bit slower, what with world building and setting up characters before they finally crossed paths. I absolutely loved the plot and can’t wait to find out more about Fable and Kassen’s past. But I have to say I struggled with characters. They both frustrated me to no end and I didn’t feel much chemistry between them. Gemma, who is supposed to be this super responsible professional rock climber made so many stupid decisions even before she stumbled upon a mansion and Kass. And it only got worse from there! Kass also had his annoying moments but he was also intriguing. We get a couple of flashbacks of Kassen’s past and I can’t wait to find out more! His past is dark, but it wasn’t too detailed. Still, be mindful of triggers. Despite not really liking main characters, the story was so addictive! I decoured it in one sitting! It ends on a shocking cliffhanger and I can’t wait for the next book!

Pepper Wounds Me. Pepper has a distinct way of reeling you into her fictitious world while gutting you at the same time and I LOVE IT! I immersed myself deep into her words and fall in love with both characters for different reasons. Kas’ trauma makes me so vulnerable and easy to love…you just want to heal him. Gems independence is what I love most about her but the way her heart tugs because of her feelings for Kas. We have all been in that situation. Eagerly awaiting to read the next book!

Dark and mesmerizing!. “He was pain. Pain in my heart, my soul, the very core of my common sense.” Dark and mesmerizing!! Fable of Happiness gripped me from the beginning. I went into this one blind. I didn’t read the blurb I didn’t read any sneak peeks. The only thing I knew was that it was book one and it was dark romance. It is told in dual POVs and I absolutely loved getting inside both characters heads. “He kissed me as if he was the one suffocating. He bit my lip and swept his tongue deep into me— tasting me, feeding me his need— as though kissing me was the only thing he lived for. I choked on his lust.” Kassen is broken and craves his isolation. Gemma is a bold explorer looking for her next adventure. When their paths cross nothing with ever be the same. Is it cosmetic fate that they meet or is it just horrible luck? Neither can understand the chemistry between them but it is definitely undeniable. While they are two totally different people and have very distinctive personalities they do have something in common even if they try to fight it. There were shocking parts, epic parts and parts broke my heart. This book is filled mystery and suspense the author enthralls you with a new storyline and characteristics that I haven’t read before. I’m beyond ready to see how everything plays out in book two. Another captivating masterpiece! “You’re mine now. Why would I let you go before knowing how you feel? Why would I let you run back to whoever else is out there? Why would I give you the chance to ruin me?”

Love it. It’s emotional and keeps you on your toes. I can’t wait until the next book. Pepper Winter never seems to amaze me. Read all her books.

What a ride!. This is a sinister story. I couldn’t stop reading this book until I finished. The situation was horrific for both characters.

Not just dark but STUPID. Hard pass

Hard to read. This book has dark and grotesque themes and elements that are possible triggers to people. It was hard for me to stomach a lot of it. Written well, but subject matter is a lot to take in.

Kept me on my toes!. This book kept me reaching for more. I finished this book in a day and a half! I couldn’t put it down!

Fantastic. Wow what a page turner. Fast passed highly unusual story with great characters that get your emotions feeling for them. Love the flash backs to give you background knowledge and can’t wait to continue this unusual plot. Thanks for a wonderful read.

Modern Day Beauty and the Beast. Wow! In the beginning, all I kept thinking was this is very Beauty and The Beast-esque, so it was a little hard to get into. But, as I kept reading, I was hooked! This book is explosive, and I couldn’t put it down. Something about the characters dynamic left me hot and bothered, and looking for more. Can’t wait for book 2!!!
