Great book for life lessons and thoughts.. This is not an Bly a book about Will but about his life experiences and how you can use them for your own life situations. Highly recommend listening to this vs reading it!!! I listened to Will read this book and it made more of an impression and much more sense to what he was saying.

Excellent Biography - Has depth. I am now a Will fan. For me this is one of those rare books that left me wishing for more, the end came to fast. As will tells his remarkable story of giant success and big failures his personality and character comes through with clarity. His insights into family and being a Man in a family have the wisdom baked in that comes only through experience. I am grateful for his honesty and careful reflection. He is someone who feels fully dedicated to self improvement and being a positive role model. Other reviewers criticized his bragging; honestly it hit me wrong many times while reading it as well but my opinion is that its there because thats who Will is and its who he needs to be. The book doesn’t suffer for it because now I feel like I know this guy and it will be easier to learn from his successes and failures as a result which for me is the purpose of reading a biography. Book of the year!!. It was a great read. It really let you into the mind of Will Smith. I feel like he poured his soul into this book. If you are a fan, this is the book to have.

I was expecting something light and saucy, instead I received meaningful life lessons. Will Smith’s success is no accident. The man got a bit of luck at the start and he listened to good advice, studied the industry and followed the discoveries. Along with his unparalleled work ethic become the biggest grossing movie star to date. And he did so while maintaining relationships with family and friends who had always been his support. This book is a resource for me. I could write much more about how great this book is. Just I read it and discover.

Absolutely amazing!. Love the book! Love the audio version , narrated by Will himself. I appreciate the openness and vulnerability. This book echoes a lot of my own life journeys and revelations. This book helped me overcome my own struggles from the past . Every chapter brings loads of wisdom. It’s one of my most favorite books I’ve read in a very long time.

Honest and engaging. This book far surpassed my expectations. Mr. Smith is a masterful storyteller, indeed. He writes with humor, tenderness and honesty…painting such a vivid picture of his childhood, that once his career gets going, the reader feels they’re relating to someone they knew in high school, even as he engages in one extraordinary experience after another. Already known for his ability to feel “accessible” from the stratosphere of stardom, Will has taken that quality to another level by including the reader in this very sincere examination of self.

Book review by Pete T.. I just loved the book, laughed and cried throughout it. I can’t relate to the success in hip-hop, TVs, and movies that Will had (no one can) but I can relate to the family stories with Daddio, having an extremely loving mother as my bedrock, and brothers, sisters and friends that provided unconditional love to me throughout my life. I started reading the book before Will’s unfortunate slap down of Chris Rock, stopped reading it for a week, and then picked it up again with aplomb. You realize from reading the book that Will is a savant, complicated cat, DEEP thinker, and HARD worker but no ordinary person can reach the heights in rap, TV, and movies without some internal tumult. That’s what makes Will … Will, and I so appreciate him. When his Daddio was dying, he asked himself, “Did my Life Have Meaning”; when Will’s penultimate day comes and he asks himself that, the answer will be a resounding “YES”. (And btw, I loved Gigi.)

Self Imposed Bubbles. I had this memoir on my list well before the infamous slap took place. I can unabashedly say he has been a favorite of mine for a long time. A positive representation of the black male experience in a forest of negative casting. Reading his memoir gives his life and the incident new meaning by adding fifty years of context into one of the world’s biggest personalities. What you see in the end Is that this memoir is about how we all can fall victim to navigating the universe through bubbles we place ourselves into. Over the course of these very personal and candid stories Will Smith shows us how these bubbles distort reality for better or worse. We get a backstage pass into the fear and need for approval that is at the root of his being and perhaps your own. In the most revealing moments we see how the misalignment of expectations has impacted his most intimate relationships. In that light the big Oscar moment makes more sense. People hate to say the word regret. As if it marks us as failures. I applaud Will Smith for leaning into his regrets and showing them for what they are. Lessons from the hindsight of reliving our mistakes and showing the humility to admit where we were wrong. In that revelation a new level of freedom sets in and allows for some of deepest spiritual and mental growth. Sometimes that freedom results in lifestyles we generally can’t understand but for Will and Jada make complete sense.

Beautiful, REAL and RAW!!. I could not put this book down!! I am inspired. Will is a beautiful human being and that’s why he’s so blessed beyond measure. He deserves everything he has and more.

I’ve always been a Will fan but….. I’ve always been a Will fan but this has given me so much more respect for him and all his accomplishments. He opened a window into his soul for all to see. There was no filter or blinders put on. He kept my full attention from beginning to end. I grew up watching Will and enjoyed everything he put his blessings on. I found myself relating to quite a few things. The book flowed and found myself being educated in a different way and perspective. It’s a must read and will definitely give you more admiration and a better understanding of Will Smith. I look forward to reading again and again. Thanks Will for sharing!

Good read.. I appreciated everything about the book. I read a lot of people’s comment about how much Will bragged. But I didn’t see it that way. As i read through the book I thought this is a man sharing what it’s like to live in stardom outwardly but struggle to find and enjoy the stardom within. This book highlighted multiple roles you have to play throughout life to finally understand who you are aside from the expectations of others. This book made me more a fan of and appreciate Will as a whole instead of just a celebrity. So check it out!

Surprisingly great book!. He’s a man who’s now aware of his flaws and the personality/ego he built to protect himself and those around him. It’s funny. It’s outrageous. And yet it still manages to deliver a story of transformation . . . An ongoing transformation, of course. Put aside everything you’ve heard and seen him do - the good, the foolish, the immature and everything in between. Read it. I think he’s transforming upwards.

Holds Nothing Back. Will Smith is not very, but extremely open about life. From the beginning to the end he holds nothing back about his ups & downs, triumphs & tragedies. He also gives readers an inside view of how the music industry & Hollywood REALLY works & fame & fortune is not all that it seems. HIGHLY recommended!

First book ever read in life!. I’ve never read a book before & I am currently 26 years old. From the first page “building that brick wall” I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. Also, the fact that I related to most of Will Smith’s life occurrences is another reason why I was so intrigued with this book. If I can give it 10 stars I would. Now I want to read more books like this 😂.

Awesome!!!. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a great book with so many nuggets about life, success, following your dreams and being true to yourself. I learned so much about the music industry, the TV and film industry as well. I can appreciate more Will Smith as a person versus as a celebrity. I think he put his soul into this book and it shows as it resonates with my soul. He was honest about everything!!! About his quest for success, his misgivings in his personal and professional life and his family. I was already a fan of the Smiths family. Now I admire how them being open to share their truths with the worl in the platform can have ripple effects in tho the world. Great joy to read this book!
