What Happened to the Bennetts. Disappointed as I usually like this author’s work. I just never connected with it and it took forever to finish which I make myself do because of the cost. Really implausible depiction of witness protection with how the protagonist was able to do what he did.

Hard to put down!. This is my first Scottoline book and I liked it. The first person in the book is a male and the author’s attempt to personify a male is very good with some exceptions. The plot moves fast and the characters have depth.

Excellent “right off the shelf” choice for me!. Held my attention and was a twisty ride! True to Lisa’s form, had the right mix of grit, suspense, twists, turns, mayhem and closure. About to fill my library with more Scottoline reads.

What happened to the Bennett. Full of unexpected twists and turns, almost to the point I didn’t know what was going on, who were the good guys and who were the bad guys but the author has such a easy style of writing any questions where answered. The characters were complex. Interestingly told in first person from the males POV. His growth in the story was believable and heartfelt. Always love Lisa’s books

Slow…. I found this book to be very slow going. You wouldn’t think that possible with something that starts with action, but slow it is. The story focuses on Jason Bennett the husband/father and although people react differently in stressful situations this guy was a bit much. And some of the “twists” are a bit much too.

Too many words. Way to long of a story, drug out. Had to skip along to get it finished. Not impressed. I did love the fact they were a family that stuck together.

Amazing Read!. Could hardly put this book down. I knew as I raced towards the end I would miss the Bennetts, and I do. Suspenseful and touching. Having lost my only child I appreciated how well the emotions were described. A wonderful, exciting, heartfelt read.

Just meh. Expected more

Great action. Sad but fun story. Lots of action.

Another great read. I always am so excited when I see a new Lisa Scottoline book is coming out. I was doubly excited when I got an e-arc to read and immediately dove into it. The story started with a bang (no pun intended) and kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next. A carjacking gone wrong leads to a family finding themselves in the WITSEC program. The way they cope and what they do makes for a very interesting read! I recommend this! Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the e-arc in exchange for a review.

What Happened to the Bennetts. Very interesting thriller and mystery. It’s a fast paced plot and has quite a few surprises. The book is thoroughly enjoyable but a little improbable at times.

BETTER AND BETTER. I have read and enjoyed Lisa’s work throughout her writing career. This is her best yet.

Couldn’t put it down. I’m a big Scottoline fan and I loved this book. She is a superb storyteller and her books always surprise me with their twists and turns. I neglected all of my family’s duties to finish the book today. It was well worth it.

Meh. Didn’t love it….didn’t hate it. In fact I didn’t feel much at all with this one. Other than the few first chapters when every parents worst nightmare happens it was just ok. I did finish it so that’s saying something. It’s hard to explain. At some points it’s good, other times it’s cheesy. It’s just ok IMO!!

Not her best. This book started out with good tension but quickly became contrived and predictable. I stayed with it to the end but I felt like I was reading it just to mark it completed.

What Happened to the Bennets. I loved this book and caught myself picking it up to read “just a few more pages” until I finished it in 2 days. Like always, I anxiously, and expectantly, look forward to Lisa Scottoline’s next book- I haven’t missed a single one! (And yes, I know, if she read this review, she would grimace at my use of a dash…)

Intense and Riveting Book. From the first page, this book captivated my attention. With a fast-paced plot and characters that made me cry alongside them, this is a book not to be missed by thriller and suspense fans.

Could not stop reading!. This was the best book I’ve read in a long time. I liked how the author allowed trouble and bad things to occur in his family, usually that doesn’t happen. Some parts seemed a bit unrealistic, like the main character venturing out on his own to get the bad guys. But, it allowed for intrigue. Other than that, I thought things seemed pretty realistic. Very creative!

Not for everyone but sill some clever parts but too much filler!. Written mostly in the first person with lots of filler a bit slow for me which could be a short story. Sorry L, M

Started out great … but lost steam in the middle. Definitely not my favorite Lisa Scottoline book. The beginning was very good but then it became pedantic and boring. I barely finished it.

Kept me reading way too late. A great mystery. Likeable and dispiseable characters. Incredibly good. Definitely read.

Sorry, eh. First few chapters were compelling then boom, ugh. Contrived and sluggish. Couldn’t finish.

Suspenseful. This was a great book. Very fast-paced. Not a dull moment!
