Crisp and Timely. Fast paced and believable after what happened on January 6th. You could easily see this storyline playing out at any U.S. Mexico border state.

Introduction to LETTY. Just OK. The TV series is better.

Stereotypical, wooden plot. Typical political point of view. Wooden, hackneyed characters and highly predictable plot. Letty has become a brat without the interest and depth she once had. It’s inconsistent without any surprise. Of course I’ve just been reading Stegner so I now expect more.

A great new series. Really excellent book. Letty is a tough cookie. Her series will make an excellent addition to the Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers series. If you like John Sanford books, I urge you to read this one. You won’t be disappointed. I’m looking forward to reading the next Letty book.

Another great hero(ine). Sandford is superb as always. Letty is a great character and as kickass as Lucas, Virgil, et al, but young and refreshing. A great pairing with Kaiser.

The Investigator. I liked this book even though it was pretty formulaic. It was good to have main characters who were not police or feds. I found the militia part of the story disturbing as it showed the lengths these people are going to to destroy this country.

Sad. Maybe, just maybe if this was set in the 1950s it would be slightly plausible. It’s sad the first Letty Davenport novel had to be this ridiculous.

Great book. Excellent reading. Hope to hear more about Letty in the future!

The Investigator. Very disappointing and oddly formulaic for Sandford, and Letty — for whom I’d had hopes — was downright wooden (and unappealingly arrogant to boot). This was surprising, particularly in the aftermath of Ocean Prey, which was a really great read of an intricate plot and great character development. Hoping for Mr Sandford’s comeback with upcoming Righteous Prey (promised in October).

Fantastic!. I could not get through Sandford’s last book, but I have enjoyed all of the others, so I was excited to see Letty Davenport featured. I could barely put it down except I wanted to make it last a week. It was worth it. The story was believable, kept my interest and I could care less if there were minor details others choked on. Another Davenport and she’s successful!. Lefty as an adult working with DHS, wow only a couple calls to her father and another hit break out book for Sandford without Lucas showing up! Impressive! The Flowers series I am not a fan of, but I used to like it when they all referred to him as “F@#ing Flowers!” Lucas Davenport has been a favourite of mine since Sandford began writing the books. Having read all of the books in order I remember when Letty was brought into the story. Knowing her history and then learning more about her past in this book was eye opening. It truly proves why Letty is Letty. Sandford did a great job writing her back story and paired her with a great character John Kaiser. Not as good of a shot as Letty even though he has military training. This made for great reading in places! Honestly I was extremely hesitant to read The Investigator because of the content relating to Jan 6,2021. I am happy to have read this book because it gave a similar scenario and Sandford left it open to another book. I will look forward to the next Letty instalment . I loved his Kidd novels as well as his one off books so a fan of Sandfords’ I am for many reasons; always a fresh plot, never a waste of pages, always a lot of laughs and also always very serious cases. Another great book that I could go on and on about. I spent three days trying to decide how to start this review which I never do, they are always written off the cuff as soon as I finish a book. That should say something because I am never one who is at a loss for words. ♥️

Wonderful look at “ Investigator”. I am happy to say that I have been a loyal John Sanford fan for decades, and the introduction of Letty as a character is just remarkable. Intriguing story and a level of tension that carried through. Incredible read!! Thank you

Never get tired of John Sanford nor his characters. I’m old. I read a lot. I have gone through many a favorite author never missing any of their books as they hit the shelves. Many I have stopped reading because they ran out of interesting stories to tell and it all began to sound the same or a new author popped up so I had to add them and there are only so many hours in a day and I gotta stop to eat and take a shower and other mundane things of life. John Sanford has never failed to disappoint no matter what series I’m reading of his or if it’s just one of his unique stories that isn’t part of a series. The Investigator stands out - So happy to see Letty on her own having watched her grow up through the Prey series. Looking forward to many more to come.

Great Book. Great, Exciting Book!

Letty. If you like the Prey books, you will love the breaking out of Letty in this book. I really enjoyed the plot and the Davenport investigative techniques coming out through the developing character of Letty. Looking forward to more of this series.

Dull.. Either Letty isn’t a string enough character or Sanford has gotten lazy…either way this Davenport novel was a giant snooze. I was wholesale skimming by 3/4 through.

Great Book!. I really like Letty as a main character. She is intelligent and tough, just as she was when she was first introduced to the series. I loved her confidence. I had a hard time putting this down. For those few who complained that Letty didn’t talk like a girl, pull your head out! Her character had a rough life from a very early age! I have 6 female friends who are in law enforcement. I believe this book portrays women in law enforcement very well. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Disappointed. Too political. I was excited to read about Letty in a Davenport/Flowers style story. Unfortunately, that is not what I got. This was so politically extreme and nauseating that it took me over a week to finish it. I actually preferred playing candy crush to reading, and I don’t like silly games, I’m a proud bookworm! I’m very disappointed and am now wary of any new releases that will come. I have read all of the Davenport and Flowers novels in order, and the thought of a story with them in it written like this breaks my heart. Sad.

All done with Sanford. Who’s book had so much extra crap in it I nearly quit many times. I have read all of his books but No more

Good book. Hard to put down. Looking forward to the next Letty book.

It had its moments. Had some good technical stuff but was slow at times. Middle of the pack at best for Sanford. Can’t compare to the Flowers books.

Dynamite Debut. Letty Davenport is a force to be reckoned with. I finished The Investigator five minutes ago and I’d be four minutes deep into Letty’s next adventure right now if it was available. It’s obvious our young heroine was raised by none other than Lucas & Weather Davenport.

Just a few thoughts…. The books pretty good other than the authors rant about electric cars and spouting propaganda that makes them look bad without mentioning that they don’t pollute like gas burning cars. It was also annoying having the girl speak like Virgil flowers instead of a female. Other than that I think that the author has a promising you character to write about in the future.

Laughable. A school bus filled with small children and women? Really? Just awful

THE INSPECTOR. This is an auspicious beginning for Letty, the adopted daughter of Lucas Davenport.

The Investigator. As all of Sandford's books, and I've read them all - great writing. I am always a little irked by his constant genuflecting to the left. Maybe you have to to that to get published anymore. However, I have one major gripe. Letty is a highly intelligent woman. For crying out loud, don't have her watching CNN! What the heck Sandford, is CNN giving you a kickback to plug them? No one of any intelligence watches them.

The Investigator. I enjoyed the book. Letty Davenport is a woman surviving in a man’s world. If you have not been a woman working in law enforcement then you may not understand the need to be tough at times. Letty is following in the footsteps of her father.

She’s no Virgil Flowers, but still…. .

Thoughts. This book is basically a left wing screed. It’s politically charged from end to end. Apparently the author has made enough to let his views show. Not worth the money, but if I rate it below a four they won’t print this.

The Investigator. Another great story! Nice to see Letty all grown up and following in her dad’s footsteps!

Great Start. Good introduction to Letty. The story line had the right amount of her obnoxious personality to allow you to understand her character.

The Investigator. The best Sandford novel I’ve read for awhile. Letty is a great character and I can’t wait for her next case.

The Investigator. If you’d just stop injecting your personal politics into your latest books they’d be much more enjoyable. You’ve never done this in years past.

Three cheers for letting. Started a little slow but like any Sanford novel it goes like a rocket. I felt it when letty had tears for the injured children . Too bad Jael got away

KNOW-It-All Letty Davenport. Snarky, rude, and bossy Letty Davenport runs unchecked throughout Sanford’s The Investigator. A completely unbelievable plot, and Letty, one of my favorite characters in the Prey series, has turned into an unlikable smart mouth, who goes off carte blanch on a mission to find missing crude oil. She really should be running the country, all our problems would be solved. Sanford’s personal political ideology runs rampant throughout. I had to go back and re-read Naked Prey so I could find the old Letty I knew and loved, because I seriously dislike this adult version!

Good Title. I thought he did a great job on introducing Letty as her own stand alone character, and he didn’t do what I kept waiting for to it happen and I’m glad he didn’t which was have Lucas and Or Virgil Help Her and some kind of way!

Fast moving!. Loved this book, already purchased next in series! The writing style still perseveres in the fast paced story telling!
