Star Wars: The Fallen Star (The High Republic) by Claudia Gray Book Summary

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In this gripping sequel to Star Wars: The Rising Storm, the light of the Jedi faces its darkest hour.

Time and again, the vicious raiders known as the Nihil have sought to bring the golden age of the High Republic to a fiery end. Time and again, the High Republic has emerged battered and weary but victorious thanks to its Jedi protectors—and there is no monument to their cause grander than the Starlight Beacon.

Hanging like a jewel in the Outer Rim, the Beacon embodies the High Republic at the apex of its aspirations: a hub of culture and knowledge, a bright torch against the darkness of the unknown, and an extended hand of welcome to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. As survivors and refugees flee the Nihil’s attacks, the Beacon and its crew stand ready to shelter and heal.

The grateful Knights and Padawans of the Jedi Order stationed there finally have a chance to recover—from the pain of their injuries and the grief of their losses. But the storm they thought had passed still rages; they are simply caught in its eye. Marchion Ro, the true mastermind of the Nihil, is preparing his most daring attack yet—one designed to snuff out the light of the Jedi.

Star Wars: The Nihil Strike Back!. This review will be very short, because if I start writing about the book, I'll be inclined to spoil things, and that goes against my policy. I'll let my rating speak for itself, and merely add that the one thing which sets this series apart from so many other Star Wars novels is that no one is safe. There is no plot armor. Initially, I wanted the authors to give us a key group of characters to really sink our teeth into—a Luke, Han and Leia, if you will—but now, I understand why they didn't. I have my own key characters in whom I've invested, and if you're enjoying the series, I'm sure you have yours, and they may be different from mine, but no less important. And none of these characters have plot armor! I've heard this is the end of the "first wave" of the High Republic series. New authors will be added going forward. If this is true, as much as I look forward to any new characters who come our way, I hope this isn't the last we see of our new friends we've come to know and love and rejoice with and grieve with so far. I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Only one thing grabbed my attention.. Huge Star Wars fan here. Loved the mandalorion and book of boba fett. This book never made me want to keep reading. I would read for ten minutes or so . Put it down and forget about it. The only thing that made me come back was wanting to find out what caused the force disturbance. Maybe I should have read the first books. Either way probably should have rented this from the library and spent my money elsewhere.

Great. I loved it!! For light & Life!

Good story - takes far too long. The book should probably be 100-150 pages shorter. Ended up just skimming the last dozen chapters as you know what to expect and the story just drags and drags with every whimsical detail or thought of certain characters described.

Marcion Ro is boring. Though the Jedi have become interesting, the space Joker is neither groundbreaking or exciting. Find a new generic villain.

Wow. One of the craziest parts of the High Republic is that it’s not bound to the movies. It is it’s own galaxy with limitless opportunities. Such an amazing trilogy of novels. I cannot wait to see what they have in store for the future of this era. Claudia Gray has no problem breaking hearts with this novel, but it’s the way she does that makes Fallen Star such an amazing literary piece.
