Mungo. The ending left me needing more! A page turner 100%

I hated it. I loved it. I’ll never forget it. I wasn’t sure where this book was going in the beginning. It has a very slow start as it lays the groundwork for what is to come. After that, however, it’s incredibly engaging, yet sometimes very difficult to read, as Mungo goes through some horrific ordeals. There were certain points where I was sure I wasn’t going to be able to finish the book. I’m glad I did, though. Probably one of the most memorable books I’ve ever read. Insightful and heartbreaking.

I couldn’t stop reading. PowerfulAF. Sexual violence happens so if that’s a trigger for you here’s your warning.

A good read. I enjoyed the author’s other book Shuggie Bain better. Couldn’t put that book done whereas I found it hard to stay interested during certain parts of this book.

Tender and breathtakingly brutal. I had high expectations of this book based on my thorough enjoyment of Shuggie Bain. I was not disappointed. The richly drawn characters and authentic sense of place and time carried the well constructed narrative high on their shoulders. I look forward to whatever Douglas Stuart delivers next. And if he wants to turn Mungo’s later adventures into a follow up, I would love to read whatever happens next
