Christmas at Castle Dunrannoch. The Lady’s Guide to a Highlander’s Heart is a wonderful story. It begins with a scrawny Laird’s daughter being handfasted to a handsome warrior, replacing the man the Laird had originally planned to marry his daughter to. Lady Flora Dalreagh, daughter of Laird Malcolm Dalreigh of Castle Dunrannoch, has decided that his step-son, Calder, will not be the man to wed his daughter, although that had been the agreement when he wed his second wife, the late Lady Brina, mother to Calder. With the passing of Ragnall’s father, he now holds the Lairdship of Balmore. With the union of Ragnall and Flora, their clans will be a stronger force against the McDonald and Douglas clans. The Lady’s Guide to Mistletoe and Mayhem This was a wonderfully written short story about two perfectly misplaced people. Lady Ursula Arrington has learned that her father died suddenly, and her hateful Uncle Cedric has become her guardian, with all rights to make decisions that involve her interests and inheritance. His decisions have a left Ursula with no choice but to escape Arrington House and venture out into the world until such time as she reaches the age at which she will receive a portion of her inheritance. Rhys’ father, Rory Dalreagh, is on his death bed when he gives Rhys a letter from his ancestral home in Scotland. Knowing he won’t live to return to claim his title and inheritance, he implores Rhys to do so on his behalf. Rhys is nothing more than a Texas cowboy and has no idea what learning to be a member of the aristocracy involves, but he agrees to give it his best. Upon receiving his letter agreeing to come to Dunrannoch Castle in Perthshire, his grandfather’s wife sets out to find him a suitable governess to teach him Scottish dances and proper etiquette. Through an unfortunate event on the train to a Fort Williams, where Ursula plans to stay with her best friend, she ends up assuming the identity of another and finds herself headed to Dunrannoch Castle, a job as a governess awaiting her. Rhys and Ursula develop a wonderful relationship, and a lady’s guide she finds herself in possession of, gives her encouragement to discover her true self. Unfortunately, there are sinister forces at work, their intent to destroy Rhys and Ursula both. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Christmas at Castle Dunrannoch. A fantastic double adventure with wonderful characters. I received a arc copy from booksprout and volunteer to review this book. ❤️. 📚. 👍
Fealty. Flora has been pledged to Calder for most of her life until her father feels that the clan can be strengthened by a marriage to Ragnall. Someone within the clan doesn’t agree a sets about to change those plans. When Flora and her maid Maggie disappear everything changes rapidly. Can Ragnall find out the truth or will he believe the lies that the traitor sets forth? While Flora plots to bring the truth to light the traitor plots her demise? Who’s the villain and who will win? This Set Is a Winner. A pair of lovely Highland holiday stories. This set is a winner. I definitely recommend it. The Lady’s Guide to a Highlander’s Flora and Ragnall are fantastic characters. The chemistry between them sizzles. They just need to learn to listen and learn to trust each other. Their story is an adventure, a mystery (or two), and a romance. A page-turner with action, secrets, intrigue, deception, and murder, and a few surprises. A real Medieval Who-dun-it. The Lady’s Guide to Mistletoe and Mayhem This very enjoyable story has a little bit of everything. Rye is a Texas cowboy. Ursula is the governess with a secret. There is a large, sometimes odd, family, a cowboy learning to be an earl, an heiress waiting for her birthday and independence, a murder mystery, and a possibly haunted castle. The story is fun and the characters entertaining. The ending? Quite typically Gothic. Wonderful! I received an ARC of this book via BookSprout. My review is voluntary.
Two Beautiful Tales of Love. Emmanuelle de Maupassant’s “Christmas at Castle Dunrannoch: the curse of Clan Dalreagh” The Lady's Guide to Mistletoe and Mayhem: Emmanuelle De Maupassant's “ The Lady's Guide to Mistletoe and Mayhem” is such a fun and utterly delightful tale, murders aside of course! I can always count on her to bring a great story to life brilliantly. She captivated my interest from the start with this beautiful fast paced story filled with drama, intrigue, mystery, a beautiful love story, fascinating characters and perhaps a ghost in the castle. Her characters are wonderfully created with great personalities and flaws you can relate to. Rye and Ursula are just fantastic together and so much fun! They share great attitudes in the face of their circumstances, both being thrown into lives they least expected. There’s a sweet and passionate chemistry between them. Rye is noble in his desire to dutifully serve his family with honor. Ursula is strong, courageous and a forward thinking young woman. And then there are those characters you love to hate, you know the ones. It was wonderful to watch Rye and Ursula get to know one another and navigate the obstacles they find in their way. The dialogue was witty and humorous. The writing had a beautiful flow to it, keeping you flipping pages to see how it all plays out. The Lady’s Guide To A Highlander’s Heart: Emmanuelle de Maupassant writes an exciting tale of love and the need for revenge. I enjoyed Flora and Ragnall’s story immensely. Betrothed to Flora, Ragnall, Laird of Balmore would be uniting two strong clans for a better future and hope for his people and his family. Things go awry when flora finds her father murdered and immediately assumes Ragnall is to blame. She runs away only to return to years later having plotted to avenge her father’s death. Finding Ragnall much different from the man she imagined him to be her heart has difficulty reconciling her desire for revenge and the passion she feels for the man she’s come to know. Great character development, wonderful scenes, good dialogue, interesting and intriguing plot, beautiful romance. This is a well written, well paced story that develops extremely well. Emmanuel does such a great job of pulling the reader in and holding you captivated throughout. Beautifully written and wonderfully told. Thank you so much Emmanuel for these fabulously fun stories of love an romance! I enjoyed them immensely!

Two Stories - Twice the Pleasure 4.5*. Having already read both these books that have been published individually, I have copied my reviews to this boxset. The Lady’s Guide to a Highlander’s Heart 5* - Young Flora Dalreagh is an obedient daughter and handfasts with the hardened warrior chosen by her father, though dark tales of his past make her fear him. When hours later she finds her beloved father brutally slain, she flees for her life. Two years later she infiltrates her husband’s castle bound on vengeance, only to find herself conflicted. Previously read when this story was published in the anthology Twelve Days of Christmas in a Highlander’s Arms The Lady’s Guide to Mistletoe and Mayhem 4* - To avoid being married to her cousin, Ursula departs for Scotland to hide until her birthday when she can access her inheritance. A chance meeting on the train leads to her taking on another’s identity and becoming an etiquette tutor. Her impulsive decision finds her juggling her own lies, teaching a virile young man (rather than the bratty boy she was expecting) and falling in love. Shame the epilogue wasn’t longer. I previously read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Excellent read. Two stories from the Ladies Guide series. Double the snowy Christmas goodness. Fab story from a fab author, really enjoyed reading them. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Curses, danger and romance. This features two stories from “The Lady’s Guide…” series - “…..to a Highlander’s Heart” and “…..Mistletoe and Mayhem”. Emmanuelle de Maupassant really knows how to bring her characters to life and intertwines romance with danger and curses expertly. These are really satisfying reads, not too short and not too long, and I found myself immersed into the world of Flora and Ursula.
