Meh. It was like a lifetime cheesy movie

Fascinating Novel. I read this for my neighborhood book club. Honestly, it’s not something I would have picked to read myself but I’m so glad it was thrust upon me lol. What a fascinating concept, that really makes you think about what you would do, how you would respond, and treat others. Stories like this always make me wonder how the author came up with their novel’s concept. What a special book!

The Measure. This book has changed on how I look at life. I can’t say that about any other book and I am an avid reader. It is so well written I had to stop reading and just absorb the words. So many characters and it was easy to follow them all. l’ve asked my son and husband to read it because there are issues that must be discussed. Have Kleenex ready.

Intriguing plot. The first half of the book captured my attention, interesting plot, good character development, intrigue. The second half dragged a bit as the character’s stories came together. Good messages and sweet ending, I recommend this as a good read.

A great page-turner. Smart and heart warming, a great antidote for our contemporary times… the story, and stories within, stir up curiosity, introspection, and optimism.

A Wonderful Read. Not depressing, but thought provoking. Creates appreciation of everything on this beautiful earth.

Honesty. So much of the division in the book is really present today. Such a novel focus strings. I enjoyed the differentiated interpretations of the impact. They are the thoughts we all have on a daily basis.

One of my favorite books!!. Loved the way this booked flowed. Kept me wanting more and couldn’t put it down. A must read!

Wow. Inspired to read the book from the Holderness podcast interview with the author, I started and couldn’t put it down. It also inspired conversations with friends and family last night as to if you would open your box and what you would do with it.

The Measure. The Measure is an incredible and thought provoking book! I couldn’t put it down and I’m sure it will stay with me forever!

Nice idea but poor execution. The writing is good, characters relatable and the problem is enticing but even after 50 some pages there’s nothing to show the characters finding a solution or making something work. I give books 50 pages to show me some plot arch as I believe that to be enough and this one did not pass the test.

Fantastic. The Measure is a beautiful allegory of the world we inhabit. The good, the bad, and the terribly ugly. The author makes it easy to substitute any minority or marginalized person in for the short-stringers and she doesn’t shy away from directly asking the reader to do just that. This is an easy, gripping read that you will want to read, discuss, and read again.

Not bad. Great book concept that lost its inertia at the end. Still an interesting read and gave me pause for thought

Really interesting.. I did enjoy this book although it took a while to get to the point but you have to get to know the characters. The way the story strings (lol) together is really nice and cohesive. I think the way the lives of all these strangers come together is really special. Feels like a metaphor for Covid which was interesting to consider.

Provocative. Definitely made me think about life and death and the consequences of having a more definitive answer to your future. What changes would you make? Book stays with you.

Really really deep and thought provoking.. This book too me a while to get into. I’m not really sure why- I was initially intrigued at first by the concept of the strings. But I felt the character development was excruciatingly slow and there were so many characters that I didn’t understand their connections for the first half of the book. I’m really glad I stuck with it though. I think this will stay with me for a long while. I do t want to give any spoilers but if you’re in for a seriously thought provoking read about life and society then this is for you. Definitely a tear jerker.

Interesting Premise but Doesn’t Go Anywhere. Too long and too many characters.

Wow. What an amazing book. I couldn’t put it down once I started and was sorry when it ended. I could have read this book forever. I was invested in the characters and the message in the story. It made me cry and smile at the same time. Well worth the time. I highly suggest reading this book.

Surprised Me. I didn’t know I would so thoroughly enjoy a story that’s premise seemed so unrealistic. Yet the characters were so relatable and realistic and the questions that came up for them are ones I began asking of my family and friends.
