Catrin and Rhys travel to Windsor Castle for their third medieval mystery together… August 1284. On the heels of King Edward's triumph over Wales, the high point of his reign thus far, he receives the worst news possible: his eldest living son and heir to the throne of England has died. Concerned that his victories in Wales, and even more the means by which he came by them, have brought the wrath of the Almighty down upon his house, King Edward sends Catrin and Rhys to Windsor Castle to investigate. But although they find victims and villains aplenty, their far greater test—of friendship, loyalty, and allegiance—is managing the expectations of a grieving king, who fears his son was murdered—and fears even more that he wasn't. Best One Yet. This is officially the best book of this series so far. It brings the tiniest, seemingly insignificant things together from the previous two books and suddenly those things are so important. This story takes place mere weeks after the events of book 2, so it feels very rapid and almost urgent throughout. There is a maybe murder, and then a definitely murder, and you don’t get any real hints until the final few chapters. Good guys live. Bad guys die. Rhys, Catrin, and Justin start really coming together as a family. If you love Sarah Woodbury and/or the Welsh Guard Series, do yourself a favour and read this one immediately.
Paladin. A death, and Catrin and Rhys are sent to investigate.... but who knows that before this book ends, the castle will be full of plots and subplots of intrigue, with people who long distrusted each other mend friendships and solve several “ crimes”, not just one. Some problems will be solved... but you really never know what will be behind the next castle wall... an interesting sort of “ gotcha” at the end! Bravo, Sarah
