The best book hangover is when you’re still smiling about all the characters even after you’ve finished it. I loved all the characters. There’s nothing better than a great cast of characters. I know Noah was to die for but can we just talk about Lance for a minute? 🥰 I wouldn’t be opposed to Lance and Mallory hitting it off. I loved Maddie. Her sass and sarcasm but her fierceness!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I made SO many notes while I read and they were all praise and fist pumps I felt like I conversated with her. 😂 If you’re one of those people that waits for a complete series, PLEASE for the love of all that is good in the world, I. AM. BEGGING. YOU. grab it now and hold onto it because THAT’S the ONLY way we’re gonna get more of this amazing book series!!!

Maddie the Magnificent. I am a big fan of Denise Grover Swank’s mystery books (well all her books really), and once again she’s created an incredible and unique world filled with interesting characters and page turning adventure! We’re immediately dropped into the action in chapter one with Maddie and Marty the Man and the story maintains a great pace throughout the book. Maddie is wonderful! Almost like a mid-season character who drives you crazy at first but you’ve grown to love, except you skip the part where they’re naive and impulsive. She’s got an incredible head on her shoulders and I’m so excited for her development! Noah (and Lance) were realistically written, not overly charming but you still couldn’t help falling in love! I appreciated the lack of steamy scenes, again it made the novel so much more realistic considering the timeline. And while I generally don’t love excessive cursing, it seemed to naturally flow in conversations and wasn’t overly cheesy. Overall I think this was a really sophisticated take on some of my favorite DGS series and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Good read. Love the mystery! This is a well written book that keeps you interested. There are a lot of great characters that make you ready for the next book!

Amazing read. This is a book I honestly found not put down. I randomly stumbled upon the book before a flight, but I finished it in 3 days because there are so many twists and turns, you have to keep flipping the page!

Great read. Ya'll, we have a new book! A first in a series. You are going to want to put everything on hold while you read this book. Maddie is going to be my new favorite person. She can kick butt, have a smart reply and be funny all at the same time. Detectives Noah Langley is the new guy on the job. All he wants is a peaceful town. Some place he can lick his wounds from the big city life. Thes two are thrown together in a crazy murder that keeps Maddie at the top of the list of suspects. All she wants to do is take care of her aunt and be left alone. That sure doesn't happen. I have been waiting on this book forever. If you love a good mystery you are going to love this one. I couldn't put it down.

Wow. What a great book love all the characters keep me in suspense all the way though rose is my favorite but this is my new favorite can’t wait to see what to come

Loved This Book!. Another fantastic start to a brand new series! DGS certainly delivered with Blind Bake. Leaving her old life behind, Maddie Baker moves back to her hometown of Cockamamie, Tennessee to care for her aunt Deidre who has dementia. I love all of these characters, and really enjoyed the dual points of view from both Maddie and Noah. This book truly has it all…small town mystery, murder investigation chaos, and of course a bit of humor and romance thrown into the mix. I can’t wait for more Cockamamie drama!

Loved it!!!. The first installment of Blind Bake, doesn’t disappoint. I swear every chapter has a hook! I read as much as I could and avoided the real world and my kiddos while reading. The first novel in this series is a addicting, heart pumping, and emotional read. I absolutely love Maddie and Noah. I really enjoyed reading the duo POV. It was nice to see what each of them was thinking. I feel like the book has a little bit of everything. Great banter, complicated past, humor, slow burn romance, great secondary characters, and a good small town mystery or two. The story has more than enough to keep the reader enthralled, and I cannot wait for the next book. Be ready to meet the Butcheress of Cockamamie.

Awesome. A really page turner. Many twists & turns

Great new series!. To say I was excited for a new mystery series by Denise was an understatement. I was so pumped for this release and it did not disappoint! Right away the story of Maddie Baker living in little ol’ Cockamamie, TN drew me in and kept the pages turning. Maddie is a sassy, witty lady who loves her aunt to pieces and I loved every part of her character. Getting herself twisted into a murder investigation leads us to meeting Noah Langley, lead detective on the case, who is grumpy with a sordid past that has led him to relocating in Cockamamie. You can’t help but love him as you get to know him. I loved the duel POV between Maddie and Noah as well. This series opener has everything I want in a new series - mystery and suspense, some twists and turns, intriguing backstories, great secondary characters to go with the leads, some humorous scenes intertwined with more serious ones, and a slow burn romance. Loved the bonus scene as well. Looking forward to diving back into Cockamamie in the future!

New series as great as Rose and Carly series’s. This first book in the Maddie Baker mystery series is so unputdownable! If you loved Rose Gardner and Carly Moore series’s, then you’ll love this new one as well. It has humor, mystery, love chemistry, great characters, and points of view from Maddie and Noah. If you don’t like starting a series until it’s completed, and then buy this and save it for later bingeing. I’ve preordered book 2 and will be so happy to dive into this Cockamamie world with subsequent books! DGS is such a master story teller, and you won’t regret this purchase.

New series with promise. It was hard not to see similarities between this and another of this author’s most popular series. It has a similar small town vibe with an underlying mystery element. There does seem to be enough differences that Maddie and Cockamamie can stand apart though. In all honestly, it did take me a bit to get sucked into the story and connect with the characters. Once the action picked up and even more mysteries started to pop up, I enjoyed it more. I liked Maddie’s spunk and love for her aunt. I disliked that she made naive decisions that painted a target on her back. A nice treat, that I wasn’t used to from this author or from a mystery book in general, is that we got a duel perspective from Noah. I really enjoyed having his side of the story along with Maddie’s. I hope that continues into the next book. If not for his perspective, I may have hated him, but it definitely helped redeem him, especially the bonus scene. There were one major plot hole/issue that bugged me most of the book and kept me from giving a five star review. The extra action and hook at the end of the book helped redeem the story though and make me curious as to what the author has planned for book two.

Loved it!. Wow, what a way to start a new series! Both the main AND secondary characters are amazing. I can’t wait to see where Maddie’s stories go and there are so many other characters like Petra, Lance, and Mallory that I’m excited to hear more about. I’m so team Maddie and Noah and even more so since they’re smart enough to know that now is not the time. It makes me hopeful that one day it will happen!! I am also obsessed with the bond forming between Lance and Noah. This book is full of twists and turns. One minute you know what’s going on and think you’re closing in on solving the case…or cases, and BOOM! Plot twist! It’s a book that’s got just about everything and I definitely recommend. Good mystery. Enjoyable and intriguing story and characters

Great listen!. ALC Review 5/5 Story 5/5 Narration I'm a romance reader and I don't usually reach for these books or audiobooks for that matter but the blurb really hooked me and then I saw the narrator team and I was in! There's so much I loved about this the creativity of it being one of the biggest things! The mystery was so fun to follow. I absolutely loved the narrators! Shannon McManus is fantastic! New series!. As a huge fan of the author’s Rose series I was super excited to see another murder mystery book come to life. And no surprise it was a knock out! The good news it has the hot cop and “my life is a hot mess right now” leading lady, but without that weird vibe you get from some other books. They have an amazingly sassy relationship as she is someone of interest in a murder and he is leading the investigation for it. Maddie is a strong main character right out the gate and I adore that she puts family first, can kick some butt, and can’t wait to see what happens in book two! Are you ready for your next book hangover?. Are you a fan of the Rose Gardner series by DGS? If so, Maddie Baker is your next fix! The mystery that you get wrapped up in with Maddie and Noah rival those of Rose and her gang. Maddie Baker moves back to her hometown after her uncle passed away to take care of her aunt who unfortunately has dementia. While juggling being back in a town she didn’t want to ever come back to, along with taking care of her aunt, she has to make money. So along with her barista job at the local coffee shop, she also does Uber rides. And boy oh boy does she get an interesting request from Marty the Man! Noah Langley has his own internal struggles he is working on overcoming, but he can’t help being intrigued by Maddie. There’s too many coincidences of her being too close to the murder of her former chemistry teacher. She’s most definitely a person of interest since her alibi is not very reliable. He doesn’t want to seem out to get Maddie but he doesn’t want to not listen to his gut instinct either. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt, don’t want to go back. While the web of mystery keeps getting even messier, Maddie and Noah feel a certain pull toward one another. They know it’s wrong, but they can’t help being in one another’s presence. I felt the vulnerability in each of them during their times of need. I felt their adrenaline. Their heartache. The relief. The confusion. DGS was able to make you FEEL throughout this entire book. Don’t wait for this series to end to grab this book. If anything, grab on to it now and hold it. But you are seriously missing out by not reading about Noah, Maddie & all of her past friends, enemies and acquaintances.

A great read. 5 Star Review of Blind Bake (Maddie Baker Mystery #1) by Denise Grover Swank AUDIO REVIEW: I was excited when I heard that Denise Grover Swank had a new series releasing at that it was also a mystery. I love romance and mystery stories so for me this was a win/win. I loved the characters she created in Maddie Baker and Detective Noah Langley and that it’s set in Cockamamie, Tennessee (I just adore the name). When Maddie suddenly find herself a suspect in a murder, it puts her straight in the line of sight of Noah, a bit of a grumpy detective who is determined to find the murderer. Complicating matters even more is that the victim was one of the last people to see Maddie’s mother alive before she was murdered, years ago. Could these deaths be related? Could Noah have a chance at solving both the current and unsolved murders? What Noah doesn’t count on is the intense chemistry that sizzles between him and Maddie. Can he trust his gut that she is innocent? Can he ignore his feelings to get the job done? The banter between the characters was witty, the tension electric and I thoroughly enjoyed this fast paced mystery. I am excited to see what the author has in store for this series. Shannon McManus and Chris Brinkley really brouht the story to life for me. Their voices were easy to listen too . They certainly did justice to the entertaining story that the author wove. The passion, angst and drama were well expressed by the narrators.
