Yay another book in the King family series!. I don’t review a lot of books. But I am lucky enough to be part of Ms Nix’s ARC team, so I review hers 😃 that said, don’t imagine that this fact will impact my reviews and ratings. I love Ms Nix’s books, and this new installment of the King family series is no different, in that respect. It was an extremely enjoyable read. My life is hectic right now and I barely have time to shower, let alone read, and yet I finished this book in 3 days. I found the protagonists to be a little bit harder to connect with at first, a bit standoff-ish, if you will. Yet after a couple of chapters they had grown on me exponentially and are possibly one of my favorite couples so far. As with all of Susannah Nix’s books, I go in expecting great writing, great story, and a HEA. I know what to expect, yet get some nice surprises along the way, for a thoroughly enjoyable read, that while being light and ending well, brings enough dimension to the characters to make it so much more enjoyable.

Enjoyed. I really enjoyed Pint of Contention. Maggie is definitely the grumpy to Ryan’s shirtless sunshine. He’s effortlessly charming and Maggie has a difficult job at the Creamery. Ryan also potentially has a serious issue in his future. They have great chemistry while dealing with some real issues. Recommend.

I enjoy reading this series. I enjoyed reading about Ryan and Maggie and how they came together. I would have enjoyed more if Maggie’s background was developed more than it was. She is divorced and estranged from her family (there isn’t a lot of talk about her upbringing only slightly touched on). She’s dead set against building relationships and putting down roots because of her divorce and upbringing (at least that’s what I gleaned from the little background given). That all being said I still enjoyed reading and will continue reading the series.

Sweet & Spicy Smalltown Romance. This is a sweet smalltown romance with a strong heroine, a sexy but sweet male lead, and real human angst to complicate their relationship. Add in a nice amount of spice, and this is a real winner!

Nice, mature romance. This is the third in the King Family series. The King family is headed by patriarch George King and his nine children by his various women. The family business is the second largest ice cream company in the US, and is having a financial crisis. George brings in consultant Maggie Silvestri to analyze his company and figure out how to save it. She moves in next door to Firefighter Ryan McCafferty, George’s stepson by his second wife. On the surface, Ryan is a total unicorn. He’s loved by all, he is kind and caring, and is a total hottie. But underneath, he is carrying a huge secret. Maggie is divorced, and doesn’t want to get involved with anyone, especially the charmer next door. Ryan and Maggie are a great couple and it was fun watching Ryan break down Maggie’s prickly facade. I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait for brother Nate’s book. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.

I did not like this book. This is by far the last favorite book I've ever read by Susannah Nix. It was like the author was trying for her main male character to act like he was in 50 Shades of Grey. I don't like how much the main female character's personality changed, like a complete 180. There was never any comic relief in the book, just control and sex. I might go as far as to say, I hate this book. I own a lot of Susannah Nix books and I usually really enjoy them but this was not for me. I will never reread this one again, unlike Remedial Rocket Science, Advanced Physical Chemistry, Applied Electromagnetism, Experimental Marine Biology, Elementary Romantic Calculus, and Lucky Star (my favorite book of Susannah Nix)

Hotter than a TX summer. Coming back to Crowder TX is like coming home. If there were anything that could melt your ice cream faster than a TX summer, it’s Ryan and Maggie. Ryan is the kilt wearing, fire fighting, teddy bear of the King family. But he’s got a secret that he hasn’t shared with anyone. Because of that, he’s imposed a self moratorium on dating. Personally, I felt like that was a little harsh given his circumstances. Maggie is an absolute boss at what she does and because of that she’s earned herself a few choice names over the years. But it doesn’t stop her from doing what she does best only she ends up putting boundaries to protect herself and mostly her heart. I enjoyed watching Ryan bust through Maggie’s walls and I loved Maggie’s unwavering support for Ryan. As always, I highly recommend picking up the King series.

A romantic take on some heavier issues. I think Pint of Contention could be enjoyed as a stand alone, though the characters do have some overlap with the earlier books in the series. I really appreciated the complexity of the issues each of the main characters were facing. The book starts with a trigger warning. The most prevalent heavy subject is living with the possibility of inheriting a terminal illness. This is one of very few books where, while I was happy with the ending, I would have also liked to see an alternate ending or two (perhaps in bonus content) because there are so many different ways the story could end. I think the author did a great job handling the gravity of the decisions the characters were each facing. I received a copy of this book at my request, and the opinions here are my own.

Another fantastic King Family book, & my new fave!. Huge Susannah Nix fan - loving the King Family series and book 3, Pint of Contention, is definitely my fave! I loved books 1&2, but book 3 with the contentious neighbors and the town hating Maggie because of the job she has to do? Pure gold! Plus, Ryan is a character we just got a taste of before and now we really get to love him in all his giant glory. I really do love a good neighbors romance, especially one where they struggle to deny any attraction for so long (also a slow burn). With Ryan being peripherally related to the King family, as a step sibling, he tries to keep out of the creamery business, but Maggie coming to town as a consultant to turn the sinking ship around and them getting involved brings him right into everything… Brilliant storyline and done in a totally unique twisty way. Absolutely loved it and 100% recommend this to everyone! A top recommendation from me - audio is always best!! Audio - Chris Brinkley!! I don’t think I can say enough about Chris. He’s my absolute favorite male narrator and I will buy anything he narrates. I just absolutely love his voice!! Everything is perfect with Chris involved. 10-stars to Chris Brinkley. I also really enjoyed Amanda Stribling - she’s relatively new to me in the audio world but I’ve been hearing more from her recently, and I’ve always found her performance to be excellent! I love that we’re back in Crowder. I love that we’re back in Crowder, because I pretty much adore everything about the King family siblings. Their patriarch, on the other hand, I have some very choice opinions about. Ryan’s been a bit of an enigma in the previous books, and we finally get to learn what that’s all about. I understand where he’s coming from, but I still wanted to shake some sense into his stubborn head. I adored Maggie. She’s strong and smart. She’s got a really good head on her shoulders. In fact, I think I want to be her when I grow up. These two proved that “no strings attached” always ends up a tangled cat’s cradle of attachments. I’m so happy about the ending this pair was able to get, however, I’m more curious than ever to find out what the King patriarch has up his sleeve.
