The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand Book Summary

“The queen of beach reads” (New York Magazine) delivers an immensely satisfying page-turner in this tale about a summer of scandal at a storied Nantucket hotel.

Fresh off a bad breakup with a longtime boyfriend, Nantucket sweetheart Lizbet Keaton is desperately seeking a second act. When she’s named the new general manager of the Hotel Nantucket, a once Gilded Age gem turned abandoned eyesore, she hopes that her local expertise and charismatic staff can win the favor of their new London billionaire owner, Xavier Darling, as well as that of Shelly Carpenter, the wildly popular Instagram tastemaker who can help put them back on the map. And while the Hotel Nantucket appears to be a blissful paradise, complete with a celebrity chef-run restaurant and an idyllic wellness center, there’s a lot of drama behind closed doors. The staff (and guests) have complicated pasts, and the hotel can’t seem to overcome the bad reputation it earned in 1922 when a tragic fire killed nineteen-year-old chambermaid Grace Hadley. With Grace gleefully haunting the halls, a staff harboring all kinds of secrets, and Lizbet’s own romantic uncertainty, is the Hotel Nantucket destined for success or doom?

Filled with the emotional depth and multiple points of view that characterize Hilderbrand’s novels (The Blue Bistro, Golden Girl) as well as an added dash of Roaring Twenties history, The Hotel Nantucket offers something for everyone in this compelling summer drama.

Such A Delightful book. So enjoyed this book!!! Was feeling sad knowing it was going to end. Loved the characters flaws and all. Hope there are more books about the hotel.

Not what I expected at all. The ghost story twist caught me off guard. Although it was an enjoyable easy read, it is my least favorite.

A fabulous fabulous read you won’t want to put down!. It’s just a really nice book. Good plot with some interesting twists and turns.. a few you’ll guess but some are unexpected. It makes you feel good to read this book.. you’ll find yourself smiling and at other times perhaps shedding a tear.. but you’ll come to live t(e characters and the hotel.. a great read.. I literally didn’t want to put it down and fins8shed from cover to cover in less than 32 hours.. Enjoy!

Fun beach read. Loved all the characters and the hurdles they had to get over. Great light fun read!

Who wrote this?. This is in a long reset line of books that she possibly could not have written. I have read all of her books and she is a masterful author so I surmise that she did not turn out this drivel...

Verbose. Slow reading, poor characters, only read half before I gave up reading

The Hotel Nantucket. This is a very good read after you get used to the slower pace. The atmosphere of the island is wonderfully reflected in it’s pages. It’s a tale with happy endings and a few surprises.

Amazing, amazing, amazing. I LOVED this book. I could not put it down. So many different angles, so many different characters that I became invested in. Such a great book, I highly recommend

Okay Book. This is definitely one of my least favorite books by this author. It’s slow to start and too many characters. It took awhile into the book to figure all the characters.

Good read. I love the wonderful references to people and places that we love about our island….. And to learn about the background that makes a successful hotel run…

Too smutty. To much smut. I don’t need that in my brain. The story doesn’t need it to be good.

The Hotel Nantucket. I’ve read only two of her book, maybe I’m missing something. It was an easy read, easy to guess the ending, no surprise.

The ghosts of Nantucket. I just loved this book! It was a real easy read with no description, the characters were very interesting. It was a great beach read. There was a couple of surprises that I really enjoyed.

Another Great One!. Loved the twist and turns! Couldn’t put it down.

I was all in!. I love all of her books but this one especially! I was invested in every character, even the less than desirable ones.

Hotel Nantucket. I loved Hotel Nantucket! I think it is one of her best books! I enjoyed it so much! I look forward to her next book!

Her best yet!. Great story, well developed characters , and some plot twists. Could not put this book down!

Great Story!. I particularly like the historical part of the hotel and the ghost!

The Hotel Nantucket. Terrible how I pay for the same book. It’s a reboot. Nothing original. Rip off!

Elin at her finest!. Her best book in years!

Very enjoyable. I enjoyed the characters and the writing.

May be Hilderbrand’s best work yet!. Wow! Elin Hilderbrand strikes gold again with her newest Nantucket-based beach read! What a glorious escape from the rainy April weather! This is the first time I’ve been granted an ARC of an Elin Hilderbrand novel & I could not wait to start it. Thank you to Little, Brown & Company for this little surprise in my NetGalley account! “The Hotel Nantucket” features all the things-romance, mystery, supernatural circumstances, amazing characters & settings that will make you feel as if you’ve been transported to a vacation destination far away! Similar to her novel “Golden Girl,” Hilderbrand introduces a supernatural aspect into her latest novel. We meet Grace, who was a chambermaid at the hotel a century ago. She is now stuck haunting the hotel after dying in a fire there in 1922. Her character allows us to see a glimpse into the rest of the characters’ lives as she flits about the hotel-a charming addition to the plot. I loved Lizbet, the hotel’s new general manager, who has also recently experienced a broken heart. She was so likable & easy to root for, as she navigated returning the hotel to its former glory while avoiding her ex. Then there was Kimber, with her two children & dog, who need a place to stay for the summer. We later find out she is a secret hotel blogger who is there to rate Nantucket’s new addition. Her storyline was woven so intricately into the book that I never suspected anything about her other than a potential stalker ex-husband. I was thrilled to find out Kimber’s identity & see her find happiness in the end. While these ladies were my favorites, I also loved reading about Chef Mario, Richie, Zeke, Ms. English, Alessandra, Edie & the entire staff of the Hotel Nantucket. There was so much to unwrap & so many plot lines woven so well together. I now hope for a sequel so we can find out how The Hotel Nantucket fairs in its second season under the ownership of Ms. English & Paul! I felt as if I was saying good bye to friends when I turned the final page, but Hilderbrand’s own “Blue Book” at the end was a welcome surprise! Add this to the top of your summer TBR list when it hits shelves in June!

A fun read.. Just a pleasant, happy book.

Left me wishing I could visit. Absolutely loved The Hotel Nantucket. The book was the perfect blend of fun, romance and plot twists! Elin Hilderbrand left me wishing I could visit The Hotel Nantucket and meet all the staff!

Have I read this before somewhere?. Parts of this book seemed familiar to me….have I read parts somewhere else? Maybe? Not sure. Editing did seem a bit off but otherwise a good fast read! Not her best but good.

Lovely read. Characters, are like a return home, and there are struggles and drama and the whole time you find yourself rooting for this band of characters. The queen of Nantucket has out done herself.

Loved this book!!!. What a fun book! Always making you want to keep reading to see what will happen next.

Fabulous. Fabulous

Brilliant!. You are simply transported to Nantucket. A must read!

New England. Great summer read. It transports you to an unique hotel with all kinds of surprises! Just a very fun book !

Not the best of Elin. So sorry to say that I think this was the weakest of her novels. Lots of unrealistic and unbelievable silliness that extended beyond her usual fun.

Great read. Omgoodness, you will not put this down.

A Must Beach Summer!!. This is a great summer book to take to the beach. I couldn’t put it down. It keeps you guessing certain parts of the book.
