................................
Logan Walsh doesn't do relationships.
Clare Thompson doesn't do casual.
What could possibly bring them together?

Finance bro Logan and tabletop game designer Clare couldn't be more different. They know this because their apartments face each other, and they've noticed. But not, you know, in a creepy way.

Still, when they get stuck in the elevator together, sparks fly and they each see an opportunity: Clare needs her co-workers to believe that she is capable of a one-night stand to get them to buy into her new role-play character, and Logan needs a steady girlfriend to prove his maturity to his boss.

After one night together, they're keen to get on with their respective plans. Except Clare can't understand why her hook-up seems to want to date her, and Logan is confused that Clare isn't responding to his flirting.

A kiss in the rain might clear up any confusion over their chemistry, but this whole 'relationship' thing is a two-player game, and both want to win. With their hearts and their pride on the line, could the prize be love?

What’s with the “white” references. I enjoyed the book. However, I did not enjoy the references as follows: Pg.24 - White dudes; Pg. 78 - White cis men; Pg. 106 - White guys; Pg. 163 - White girls; Pg. 174 - White Americana; and Pg. 244 - young white men. I didn’t quote the entire sentences but you get the gist. My question to the author is why? You are white. Your main characters are white so why did you feel it necessary to point out white people? Made me very uncomfortable. Now you only reference “white” 6 times in this book. However, your reference it 14 times in I Love You, I hate You. In today’s society, why would you reference it at all? Aren’t we all God’s children? No matter what race we are?

The Player Next Door. — Was a good book overall , but it was difficult actually getting into it especially with the bored game talk because i never played or been into that to actually relate to anything that was going on, but the sexist boss &’ the fighting for love parts was amazing and *I* am used to that so.

Good. Had me hooked

Could be better. Too lengthy on explanations but the romance was cute.

Horrible Book. I never skip pages, but I found myself skipping whole chapters and when I got to about 70% I gave up. The characters have no personality or reason to be together. It’s not very romantic. They both allow their work to take over there personal life in an entirely unrealistic way, and the only thing driving the plot is their awful jobs. I don’t know how it ends, but for the majority of the book the girl can’t stand up for herself at work and puts herself down to “fit in” or “prove herself”. The characters quite literally have nothing in common.
