Carise and Jaek. Carise woke up and escaped her alien captures. She needs to get back to Earth and her sister Kenzie. Carise is on a planet she doesn’t recognize or know. The inhabitants are tall. She is short. She encounters a food stand but she has no money. She needs food quickly or her body will shut down. She is desperate. She picks up the food on the ground to eat. But is called a thief. Jaek is on this planet exiled from his home planet. He needs to fight or have sex to gain the energy for his body. Jaek doesn’t like the market. He usually sends someone to get his supplies. Today he went himself. He hears a commotion and comes to the rescue of a small human. Jaek pays for the food that was dirty on the ground. She passes out and he takes her to his cave. Jaek helps her. He finds out that Carise wants to return to Earth and her sister. Carise tries to leave and is in danger. She stays with Jaek longer. Eventually, Carise is taken. She fines out her sister is the new Queen in one of the territories. Her sister’s fated mate is the exiled king of that territory. Kenzie tells her they will return to Earth and live like before. Carise doesn’t want to return to Earth. She is attracted to Jaek. But she needs to learn to be her own person. She gets a job. Suddenly she is in danger. Jaek is watching from afar and comes to her rescue. He thinks she could be his fated mate. Includes Kenzie and Mad from Exiled Hunter. Has a HEA. Fate brought them together. Jaek is a gentle giant exiled on a planet with no real purpose in life and not much to look forward to until the day he saves Carise. Carise has escaped her kidnappers/slavers and needs a rescuer and somewhere safe to hide. Little did they realize they would save each other along the way. I enjoyed seeing their love story unfold. They have good chemistry and Jaek is very patient and gentle with Carise who has suffered so much trauma. Carise is a survivor and it was satisfying to see her find herself again or at least the new version of herself. I did not read the previous book in this series so I’m sure there was more detail about characters and the story but it still felt like parts of the plot were summarized and vague when I think more detail would have enriched this book and its plot better. Aside from that I enjoyed seeing Jaek and Carise find their happy ever after. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Carise and Jaek. I loved Carise and Jaek’s story!! Carise has been abducted from earth and sold, and sold and sold through the galaxy and ended up on Guerran, a planet for exiles. She wakes up from a drug stupor and makes a run for it. She meets Jaek when she is in trouble with a merchant. Jaek is a gentle giant in a see of criminals. Will he be able to protect Carise? When her sister is on planet will she whisk her away? Can Carise stand up to her big sister and truly find herself?

the mouse roared. The wild criminal planet Guerron is the fantasticly dark venue for another ridiculously unlikely pair of "criminals" to meet and ... And before we get to that inferred HEA there's a whole lotta missed connections, misunderstandings, miscommunication, and quite a few crimes. Kate Rudolph's genius is writing romances with as much adrenaline-rush as steam. This one is no exception. Best to read Book 1 in the series before this, as events dovetail marvelously. And that is my honest opinion, freely expressed in this ARC review.

He’s a protector. He’s a protector. I really liked Jaek. He’s a well defined character with a solid character arc. Carise has to depend on him for survival. Recommend.

Find the heroine mildly irritating.. I really tried to get over her running away from her sister after her sister searched the galaxy for 2 years for her, but I only somewhat got over it… I mean, i am middle child, so I understand both sister’s prospective, but Carise was just a little too “Youngest child” for me. Though, she did grow on me from the first Exile book. KR did a great job moving Carise from “Spoiled ingrate” to younger sister to “I am a grown up” younger sister.

Great read. Book 2 and phew, what a read! Different MC’s from book one but the same engaging storyline. Recommended

A fantastic alien romance story. I loved reading this book. It’s well written and has a tense, exciting and romantic storyline. The characters are fantastic, the main characters Jaek and Carise have electric chemistry together. Jaek is protective, possessive and cares deeply for his loved ones. Carise is shy but after being captive for two years, she’s grown to be more assertive and refuses to be ordered or owned by anyone. This story has a daring escape, danger, fated mates, desire, steamy scenes and much more and has a happily ever after ending. Jaek is exiled to Guerran after hitting a guard. There he lives in a cave and keeps to himself but has to go to pick up some parts from the market, It’s there that he first meets Carise. Carise was abducted from Earth and has been held captive ever since. Now she has the chance to escape and she takes it. She ends up in a market, she’s starving and needs to eat after being in stasis. She picks up a pastry that had fallen and the stall owner cried thief. Jaek comes to her rescue and pays him for the pastry. She passes out and when she wakes she’s in a cave with Jaek. She ends up staying with him for a couple of weeks and in that time they get a lot closer. Jaek takes her to a quite spot and they get very steamy, when she’s sleeping afterwards Jaek goes back home to get supplies so they can camp out. When he gets there he finds his best friend and another human that looks like Carise, they want to know where she is. He heads back to her but finds her missing, she’s been taken to the mad king. He’s furious and is determined to save her, she is his fated mate. He’s even willing to ask his friend for help to get her back. Unfortunately nothing goes to plan and although Carise is rescued, it won’t be the last time she’s attacked. Like before, Jaek will do everything in his power to protect her. Mate connection. Kenzie’s search for her sister Carise extended to this second book. It was interesting to see some details from the first novel expanded on from another POV. Jaek seemed like a big cuddly teddy bear with hair trigger protective instincts, particularly when Carise in involved. With lots of action and an unfolding steamy romance, it was hard to put this book down until it was done. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Fated mates. I don’t know if I would have been able to rise above my circumstances with all the grace that Carise did but I did appreciate her story. Jaek was such a sweet and gentle giant and proved to be everything that Carise needed at a time when she could have broken completely. The involvement of Kenzie and Mad added extra elements to the story as well that I found interesting and I am looking forward to Fynn’s story next. Escape, Refuge, Battle and Love. This story is the partner novel to Exile’s Hunter - this time, Carlise escapes captive and is rescued by Jaek, and that’s just the start of Carlise’s adventure. Exile’s Hunter provides insight’s into Carlise’s story, since Kenzie is searching for her and the two stories have temporal overlap, this time, I really enjoyed getting to know the flip side of the story and really meeting Carlise and Jaek. Carlise’s personal growth is inspiring, making her a great heroine to read. Guerran is a rough planet to live on, but the love these couples find is just magical.
