A test of wills. Loved this! Book 2 in the Alpha Mountain series and it starts with a bang (literally lol). Hayes, the former SEAL & Megan, the town deputy. They are combustible together, but she’s got a past she wants to hide, so she only wants to keep it physical. He wants so much more. It’s a test of wills to see who wins

Except there are secrets she hasn’t told anyone…when someone from her former life comes back things take a turn… Can Hayes and his team turn these secrets to their advantage and show Megan they have her back no matter what…read on to find out what happens..

“She was my woman. She just didn’t know it yet.”. I read Alpha Mountain Hero so I knew both Hayes and Megan, at least I thought I did. Turns out I was wrong. I didn’t know them at all. Raf Reyes, aka Hayes, is a romantic, or at least as much of a romantic as a former SEAL can get. He’s all hard and tough on the outside but inside he’s just as sweet as can be. He knows Megan is the woman for him and he’s determined to win her no matter what. Megan had so very many layers that were never even hinted at in Hero and I was very surprised by them all. The opposite of Hayes she looks soft on the outside and inside she’s hard as nails. She doesn’t trust men for a second, guards her heart like Ft Knox, and has zero interest in anything that even remotely looks like a relationship. She fights her feelings for Hayes, constantly pushing him away, determined to not let him mean anything to her. Hayes is in it for the long haul and is there no matter what. Lots of action and complications fill the story in and combined with the love story at the heart of the book, this was one fantastic read. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Hayes 💙. Hayes and Megan’s little cat and mouse game intrigued me in book one, so I was glad we didn’t need to wait for their story. Hayes, or Raf, is a character I liked right away, but I had to warm up to Megan. He’s a charming rogue who goes after what he wants, but she played on his feelings a bit too much. I get that she has baggage, which she let get to her in a bad way, so she lost some credibility with me with her about-face. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good story, full of suspense, steam and great banter. But I don’t always love the MCs, even in books I enjoy a lot. This, and Megan, is just one of those times. This book can be read as a stand-alone, but I love the connection between the team, so I always recommend going back and reading previous books, as well, to enjoy the series as a whole.

Hot, honorable, dependable…can it get any better?. Deputy Megan is still dealing with emotional issues as a result of her less than stellar upbringing. Hayes patiently shows her he will be what she needs until she’s ready for more. When her ghosts from the past come back to haunt her Hayes and the rest of the team show her she’s not alone as she believed. They have her back….I received a free copy of this book.
