Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer Book Summary

In the explosive finale to the epic romantic saga, Bella has one final choice to make. Should she stay mortal and strengthen her connection to the werewolves, or leave it all behind to become a vampire?
When you loved the one who was killing you, it left you no options. How could you run, how could you fight, when doing so would hurt that beloved one? If your life was all you had to give, how could you not give it? If it was someone you truly loved?
To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, a tumultuous year of temptation, loss, and strife have led her to the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or to pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the fates of two tribes hangs.
This astonishing, breathlessly anticipated conclusion to the Twilight Saga illuminates the secrets and mysteries of this spellbinding romantic epic.
It's here! #1 bestselling author Stephenie Meyer makes a triumphant return to the world of Twilight with the highly anticipated companion, Midnight Sun: the iconic love story of Bella and Edward told from the vampire's point of view.
"People do not want to just read Meyer's books; they want to climb inside them and live there." -- Time
"A literary phenomenon." -- The New York Times

Somewhat balanced opinion. I can see both sides of the issue. Twilight is silly, full of typos, illogical, self-contradictory and pointless. Twilight is also relatable, addicting, interesting, entertaining, romantic, and impossible to put down. If you can see past the problems, you’ll love it. If you can’t see past them, you’ll hate it. I relate to Bella really well :) I especially hate the typos and especially love the Cullen family. Team Jacob!

Opinions. It’s always amusing when people try to bash all the twilight books. I’m just thinking if you hate the books that bad why have you continued to read all of them, and if you haven’t read them your opinion is invalid. So... be gone unless you plan on reading them.

Contradictions in reviews. Haven't read this book yet but have seen the movie probably 50 times! I'm thinking the book and movie are a bit different, but that's ok. My first observation with these reviews are... you either hate it or you loved it. There doesn't seem to be a middle. I got tickled out of several that gave one or two stars, went on about how horrible all the books are. I don't know about most of you, but if I didn't like the first one, I probably wouldn't of kept reading series??! Next, for all you Jacob fans. He might be able to give her a human life, but the Dude had serious problems. He had a horrible temper. Not only that, he has to be careful because like Sam did with Emily, he could seriously hurt her if he got mad at her. And second....so she drops Edward for Jake-what happens when again like Sam, he's in love with Bella but he imprints on someone else? Isn't that what happened when Sam was in love with Leah? He dumped her because he imprinted on Emily? I think she made the right choice. It never was an option for me. Before the second movie was over, it was all still about Edward for me

BEST BOOK EVER. I am only in 6th grade, yet I love to read!! I read the whole Twilight Saga in a month!! Well I finally completed my book challenge 😂! I totally recommend, if you haven’t read these books, or thinking about reading them, you should!! You will not be disappointed!! I am just so sad that the series is over!!

Ok, I love this book. I keep seeing people making comments about hating this book, and I’m like… well, if you hated it why did you read it? And some of them are making me go a little hysterical like, if you hate it so fricken much why are you taking so much time to write a bad review? Anyways I love this book ❤️( Team Edward!!!)

Mehhhh. I meannn... I'm only 12 years old. I'm not a literary genius, but throughout this series, the over use of adjectives and cliches bothered the crap out of me. I enjoyed it for a little while, but after a while it got annoying...

Add more. Love the Twilight saga but I think the story has much more to be told. So I think a few more books should be added to the series that involves what happens after Breaking dawn. And I think the fans would go nuts if book 5 came out in the twilight saga

!!. Some people are saying this book is bad but honestly if it's good enough to make a movie out of it then it's a good book!

Just finished. All I can say is- wow. When I reflected at the end of this series on just how far Edward and Bella had come, it left me with just one word and that word was wow.

Great book but a little bit of a cliffhanger. This book is great I especially enjoyed the wedding and the part where she’s adjusting to being a vampire. Unfortunately I saw the movie first and whenever I try to imagine renesme all I can think of is the crap CGI baby they used. They need to make another book because it was a bit of a cliffhanger because we know that the voltori will come after them again and they will have to defeat them and also another reason she should make another book is so they can meet Fred from Short second life. All and all it’s a great book she just needs to make another one

Predictable. I admire these books because of how touching and lovable the characters are together, not because of the plot, which was predictable and unrealistic. I know it's fiction, but it still has to tie in with real life because the last time I checked, they live in a HUMAN world and interact with real humans, and even though there are still flaws in this book, I still love it with all my heart.

No.. As a fan of the Twilight series, am I going to be the only one who thought that the last movie was better than the book? The book was badly written and just talked about the same thing over and over again. I wouldn't doubt that the many people who gave this one a five star rating is because they saw the movie first and then read the books. I remember the day the movie for Twilight came out, I read the book and finished it long before I knew the movie was coming out and people would always ask me "What's so special about Twilight?!" And those people saw the movie and became obsessed with them, and then they read the books after seeing the movie. That's annoying in a way. That's why they think the book is amazing because they see the movie in their heads as they read it. If you hadn't seen the movie until after you read the book, then maybe you would've understood why some of us didn't enjoy Breaking Dawn the book.

EPIC BEST. Truly the best novel I have read and re-read and re-read in a very long time. The first time I read it I could not put it down. I read it in less than 2 days. I laughed so hard and I cried even harder. It is truly a beautiful story. Hats off and a big thank you to Mrs. Stephenie Meyer.

SQUEEE!!!. I LOVE twilight. The awesomeness, romance, the suspense. Even though Jacob can be such a JERK at times, he cares about Bella, but I’m team Edward! Go Renesmee!!!

Finishing. I have watched the movies before I read the books. The books are better but one thing I didn’t like was the different parts in these books. I think they should’ve described the fight scene like how it was in movie. Other than that the wedding, pregnancy, and the Vultori were an amazing edition to the series.

best of the all!😁. breaking dawn is the best twilight book there was! i couldn’t put the book down and was up all night reading it!😀 i wish there were more books!

Best series ever. The most amazing series I have ever read. You would never see me hold a book or read so fast. My mom was amazed that I had finished the series in less then 3 months. It made me heavy hearted that I can’t read them again cause I don’t have all the books. And the series had ended. Lucky Stephenie Meyer is making a next book. Can’t wait 😊 to read it!!!!! Just because I seem I’m always series doesn’t mean I don’t get excited 😊 about things. This series was one of My happy 😃 places

I want more!. I enjoyed this trilogy so much that I want to know what happens next, when the daughter grows up and continues her friendship with Jacob. And does she ever see the boy whose is another 1/2 and 1/2 again?

My Monster Boyfriend: How Twilight Disrespects its Female Monsters. There's this sub-genre in romance, which YouTuber Lindsey Ellis called "My Monster Boyfriend." It's basically a metaphor of how society thinks the gender roles for men and women should be in romantic relationships. If you look at stories where a human and monster fall in love, there's about an 80% chance that the human is a woman, and the monster is a man. These "monster boyfriends" all possess the same characteristics: severe anger issues, high sex drive, obsessive possession, unyielding devotion, and raw strength. These are traits that are often coded as positive qualities in men. The human woman is usually portrayed as weak, helpless, kinda dumb, and frequently persuaded by other (human) men who want to take advantage of her. This is how the story justifies the monster's terrible behavior towards the woman and other people. There's also another love interest who's a human man. He's usually the opposite of the monster; kind, gentle, and open with his emotions. However, he's usually seen as inferior to the monster or isn't a "real man." Just like how society shames men for avoiding conflict by walking away from a fight or apologizing. Men (at least in fiction) are often praised for acting like they "own" their partners by threatening the lives of any men that so much as look at them. There's also the trope of the male monsters having an insatiable desire to kill/eat the woman, but he can control himself due to the power of love. This is an example of the harmful belief that it's a woman's job to "fix" the man. Also, the reason monster and human are in love is usually because the monster sees the human as a helpless child in need of protection. The human is willing to put up with the monster's abusive behavior because she's thankful for him saving her life. Romance stories where the monster is a woman and the human is a man are almost the polar opposite. First of all, the woman is always the stereotypically "sexy" type of monster, such as vampires, mermaids, succubi, and witches. The common trait with female monsters is they're virgins who are so overwhelmingly beautiful that they drive men crazy ("Born Sexy Yesterday" - Pop Culture Detective). They are also helpless and need protection due to being pursued by other men. These men are usually other monsters who intend to marry her (generally by arranged marriage), monster hunters, or government agents that want to experiment on her. The monster woman may be physically stronger than the human man, but her ignorance of the human world makes her dependent on him. The monster woman's one goal, besides survival, is usually to marry and have a baby with the human male and be a happy domesticated housewife. This is usually the catalyst that drives the human man to protect her. The reason why the monster woman is in love with the human man is usually because he's the first man to love her for her and not just her looks, or she's infatuated by his human traits (despite him having no redeemable qualities). Twilight is a perfect example of the "My Monster Boyfriend" romance sub-genre. All of the male monsters have the same obsessive and possessive traits, yet are treated as normal and even attractive. As for the female monsters, the one that stuck out to me the most were Leah and Rosalie. What separates them from other monster women in romance stories is they are both demonized and perpetually tormented (both by the author and the characters) because they can't have children, and therefore aren't seen as real women. Leah is ostracized and treated like a freak because she's the first female werewolf, which made her infertile. Because the werewolves share a hive mind, she can't think about her "feminine problems," or else it'll make the men uncomfortable. Not to mention because the alpha of the pack refuses to allow anyone to leave, she has to stay and watch the love of her life be happily married to her cousin. Also, her dad died because he had a heart attack when he watched her first transform. Rosalie is given the mean girl treatment because she didn't immediately accept Bella as part of the family, rightfully questioned why she had to risk her life for a stranger, and she's the only character whose backstory involves rape. Rosalie was still slightly less demonized than Leah since she was rich, white, feminine, and wanted to protect Bella's baby. Twilight's weirdest aspect was how the male monsters could pass on their genes, but the female monsters couldn't get pregnant. Bella got special treatment since she was able to give birth and become a vampire. It's almost as if Stephanie Mayer (and by proxy a lot of romance authors) was trying to say that male monsters are the peak of masculinity and female monsters are abominations that are not real women. But that's just speculation. In case it wasn't clear, I did not like this story. It's another example of romanticizing abuse.

Trash. Weird and trash

Reply to: Trash. Your weird and trash

Soo good. It was soo good I couldn’t put it down finished it in 4 hrs and I think that this one is one of the bests and to all haters don’t hate the book the book is amazing and if you can’t see that you are missing out.

Not too bad. It was okay but it was not really action-packed like I was hoping it would be. I like Jacob's perspective better than Bella's. (Team Renesmee!)

I've always loved the series. I rate 5 stars because of the films and the books. I like the last film the most. I recommend the series if you like action, love and adventure. So that's y I rate 5.👌

ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS ON EARTH!!. I’ve always been a twihard. I’ve easily and literally read each book over 50 times. They never get old and still move me as if it my first time reading them. My heart always break with breaking dawn. Because it’s the end. She did an amazing job with the ending. I hope (fingers crossed) she does a continuation but about reneesme, Jacob and Nahuel.

WAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!😭😭😭😭😭. U SHOULD READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!! it is a very satisfying conclusion to the twilight saga. i read the whole series during quarantine. I wish this wasn’t the end.

This just wasn't a good book. She flaked out on this book with the story. Disappointing.

fantastic. definitely liked the ending, different from the movie, but i liked it a lot!

I love it. My mom loved the Twilight saga. She watched and read all of the Twilight book. She had died 4 years ago. But every time I read the books, they remind me of my mom. And she had the poster to Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 1.

In love. Best Twilight book, and one of my favorite books ever. It is beautifully written.

Pahpod@hotmail. Com. I like the book very much, midnight sun I wish you are continuing to write Moore please.

Just meh. There could have been so much potential to this book, and the rest of the series. But it just ended up failing. Grammatical errors, shallow characters, obvious, slow plot line. The list goes on. I mean really? There could have been some interesting plot twists, or actually a big fight scene that happens at the end. Instead, we get a build up to a climatic event, and it plummets to an east conversation. Even the buildup was weak, but I kept on reading to at least get to the part where I felt it would be good and interesting. But I was thoroughly disappointed. If done properly, it could have been good, maybe a little cheesy, but good. Giving the characters depth and not having a message that you are nothing without a man, or completely downgrading females. Even choosing Jacob could have been good, as a theme could have been “the imperfect is perfect.” Do people really think they can be on a ‘team’ of these fictional, shallow characters? Not to mention the non-existent character growth. And don’t let me get started on the other three books where the exact same thing happened. I normally love reading. But this book just made me feel really disappointed and a waste of my time. Don’t let it be a waste of yours.

Honestly the best book I’be ever read.. I’ve always had a passion for big books and I had watched the movies as a child. (Yes, I know they weren’t appropriate for me at the time but I didn’t really understand, my mom was watching them mostly.) I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I couldn’t put the book down and every page made my heart beat faster and I think I maybe forgot to breath for a few moments. In the emotional parts, I couldn’t help but cry. It kept me guessing and I thought about the story 24/7. Love, drama, action, mystery all in one book! What’s not to love? It’s hard to believe some people do not like this series. (I try not to be judgemental though, I try to think of it from their point of view.) It breaks my heart to know that there aren’t any more books because I really love it. To be honest, Im kinda sad to know it can’t be reality!! Overall, a very enjoyable and good series. But really, I’m reading them again! 😂 Team Edward: (as the lovely priest said:) “as long as we both shall live.” ❤️☺️😭

My Gwad.. This an amazing book. I have no words. It's just so... Idk better than anything ever.

✨Review for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn ✨. This book was amazing! Just finished the series about 5 days ago. I'm a big fan of the author! I hope there will be a part 2 of Midnight Sun. Looking forward to reading it! I also just read Twilight reimagined (Life or Death). Keep up the good work! xox ~❤️❤️ Stephenie Meyer Fan ❤️❤️

Amazing - Read It. This series was so amazing... I wish it ever ended... Everyone says not to read most books because we're too young to read about love and passion mixed with fantasy ... But I feel that the Twilight Series is good for young adults who like continuous series's (like me!). Read it and you won't regret it...

Nasty. Edward is an overly possessive old man and this is absolutely not a healthy relationship. The book is trash the author can’t write plus the way it depicts women is quite disgusting. -Addie

Romantic. Best ever This is coming from a nine year old

Ya. I've seen the movie And the books good too

AMAZING!😁. First of all amazing story line. I enjoyed turning every page and was disappointed when the pages ended. I do agree that this is for _mature audiences_ there is some... older content however it was lovely to read. I do think that instead of Jacob’s portion in the book you could’ve switched it with Edward. After all he was the on who ###SPOILERS### changed her into a vampire. I would like to know what was going through his head then. Totally love the books and hope you keep writing them. As soon as I get started you don’t see me for a few days! Team EDWARD!!!❤️❤️❤️

Addicted. I got the series long ago and ever since I have been in luv with it.and guess what I'm twelve years old....I'm definitely team edward I mean look at him who could not like him.and people who don't like the series..well....there is something wrong with you twilight is the best thing that has ever happened to me so if u don't like it then u know what...😡😡😡😡😡😡fu** you

FOREVER. Omg bro I love the series of twilight you don’t even know I ave read all the books and seen all the movies I started watching twilight at the age of 4 and I loved it ever since🥰❤️

Breaking Dawn. This book was really good. I love how she tells the story from Jacobs POV. And I love the 3rd part of this book I would definitely recommend this to anyone over 10

Best book I have ever read!. This book was soooooo good. I watched the movie breaking dawn part 1 and liked it so I thought hmm I wonder what the book is like? I got this book and couldn't stop reading it. But I only read some of the first book so I guess I'm reading the series backwards :) I've read a series backwards before so it's not that bad. I heard that there might be more twilight books or another book some day. I can't wait I want to see what happens to Renesmee, and Bella as a vampire was awesome!

To Ms Meyer.. I think that Ms. Stephanie Meyer should make book about Renesmèe and Jacob. She should include Bella, Edward, and all of the vampires in "The Twilight Saga". I really enjoyed the movies and the book and I really wish there was more and that it would go on forever. <3

I expected better- (spoiler warning). *!SPOILERS!* It was an okay book, but I’m very disappointed with the ending. I feel like all that build up for a fight ended up being a huge let down then there was no action. I feel like Bella should’ve sent Jacob and Renessmee away, and the epilogue been from Jacob’s POV about how much Renessmee has grown up, and how the two of them are finally returning to the rest of the family now that it’s safe. Another thing, why does Bella have to be so h*rny in the first half???

Magical. When I was younger, I hated twilight a cause I thought it was scary. But later on, I listened to the song, a thousand years and that’s when I fell in love with twilight. I fell in love with the magical world Stephenie Meyer created and I can never thank her enough for the joy she has given me

Best of All. Breaking down was by far my favorite of the series, but seriously Stephanie Meyer was necessary to make Jacob get imprinted with Nessie I mean seriously that is unnecessary and sickening I'm sorry the rest of the book is amazing but that is just is not right.

Never get tired of it! 😝🤩💯🔥❤️. I read these books about twice a year ( not including the newest edition (the fifth book) that I still have yet to lay my eager eyes upon) the storyline is so well written with love and care for every detail, and character and their mindset of things. I recently read all four books that I own in three days and when I read the last page I actually felt remorse. You will defiantly laugh, cry, smile, and and have your eyes glued to the pages just as I did. I really cried at certain parts, and laughed and smiled throughout the book. (It’s very sarcastic) you will never be able to set it down once you pick it up. The carictoes have so much life and are most cortainly not shallow. Just insecure like all people. I read these books, first four to this one, in three days, This is recommended to everyone. I am team Edward and team Jakob depending on my mood….both of them are amazingly passionate in all that they do, I hope to see a sequel I. These books where we get to see Renesme’s side of the story, and see her friendship with Jacob grow as she does, and watch it transform into another unlikely love story as it was with her parents, Edward and Bella. 🥰🤔👌👁️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Idk what happened with the movies tho, I could hardly make it through the first twenty minutes, in the movies the parts are not played well, the actors that were chosen are typically amazing actors, but for this movie they were poorly chosen. The movies are a total waste of time and energy. Don’t make the same mistake as me. Save yourself from my mistake.

BEST BOOK. (This is coming from a 12 year old) An incredible book. I cannot say enough good things about Stephanie Myer’s writing and how much emotion it causes me. I CRIED SO HARD IN THE SECOND BOOK! I read the whole saga in under 4 days, and I never had a better reason for sleep deprivation lol. 10/10 recommend 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Wonderful. This book is a life changing novel it is deep it is so detailed I love it same with Twilight New moon eclipse and now Breaking Dawn Thank you!!!!!

Awesome. Yes A lot of detail...but isn't that how Bella is!!!??? Great over all!!! I will jeep reading it over and over!!!

Jacob.... Wish there was more from Jacob’s point of view. A warewolf spinoff... I am ready to buy. Never did I imagine that the books would be far better than the movies. After watching the movies I thought what fun will it be to read the books now that I know the story. There will be no charm, there will be no suspense. Never have I ever been so wrong. Each page kept me hooked. Wanting more. Wanting it to never end. Edward here I come to listen to your point of view.

It's OK. Read it to see what the hype was about. Wouldn't say it's the book of the year, but wasn't horrible either.

Breaking Dawn. I love this book I would read it over and over if I could until I died

Great book. So amazing and love these book!

Breaking dawn. Loved it, took a week but it was worth reading

Should've went in another direction. I know she planned to end the book like this from the beginning, but she shouldve changed that direction.

Now this, is what I call "happily ever after". A beyond exceptional novel that has it all; romance, suspense, action, character development in ways you wouldn't expect. "Breaking Dawn" challenges everything people have come to know about the world of Twilight, and the real world. Because it asks the question, if you were given everything you ever wanted (and more), but it suddenly seemed like it was about to be taken away from you, would you regret the choices that led you to this moment? Is it better to never have loved, than to have loved and lost? Personally, I think not.

My FAVORITE book of all time!. Omg this is the best book ever! I love all the twilight books. But I hate how the twilight saga had to endHope Stephanie Meyer keeps writing I love her!!!!

I'd give it no stars if I could. Stephenie Meyer should just stop writing

Two Cents. Here's the thing, not everyone is going to agree on this book. However, my two cents is this...Happily ever after doesn't exist in real life so why not put it in a book. Vampire mythology changes from writer to writer, its called being creative. I love the saga personally. Stephenie Meyer comes from a literary background, she's read the classics and most of them may have only started from a small idea. She took something and reinvented it and I like that she did that. I hope she does keep writing because her stories are different and yet so pure, love is love, its the stuff that happens around it that amps up the story.

Best book ever!!!. For any one who dissed this book you are totally wrong. It may be overly detailed but that is just how some people write. I think stephenie Meyer should KEEP writing and NEVER stop. Btw, it's called being in love. I love this book and this series. Thank you Stehenie Meyer for writing these books.

Ok. I didn't like Jacobs point of view

Breaking Dawn. This book is very well written and just amazing!! I used to think that movies are always better than books but reading this book changed my opinion..

Good conclusion to an okay series.. There was a weird twist with the Jacob point of view but good nonetheless. It was cool to have a description of what it's like to be a vampire.

Stop the torture. This book is soo cheesy with the perfect ending and the perfect husband and daughter, it's nauseating.

Sad. This is the worst book ever written

No good. Bad
