Well done!. Immersive and entertaining details kept me reading. It’s an interesting, innovative take on vampires. The characters are multilayered and well developed. The protagonist is new and fresh and contrasts and thrives in a world where the bazaar is explained and believable.

Detailed entertainment. Great read with endless details! Awesome edge of your seat excitement keeping the pages turning.

Skinwalker. This is the start of an awesome story by Faith Hunter. Jane Yellowrock is not perfect & I it's why I keep reading her story. The book has all the story elements I love, mystery, supers who are flawed but for some reason likable & enough action that I can see happening.

4/5*. Part of the reason I rated it this way is because I found parts of it confusing; apparently Jane has some sort of... magically gifted amnesia and has little idea of how old she really is. Which is an interesting thing in and of itself depending on how it’s handled, but. It can also be difficult to understand how things play out when she keeps flashing back to the cave and the drums and there wasn’t much context for awhile. I’m guessing the memory loss is why she acts so much younger than she really is too, she often acts around fourteen or fifteen while looking late twenties. It... is a flaw that does haunt her. She is a strong character though, and I’m interested in the next book... I just hope her emotional healing and growth keeps being done well. As to the other characters...Leo creeps me out. He’s slimy and smarmy. The vampire priestesses is interesting but also creepy in an undead I wanna eat you kinda way.

Action packed urban fantasy.. Jane Yellowrock is a Cherokee skinwalker and is always on the search for information about her kind. She is a hunter of rogue vampires and has been hired by the vampire council of New Orleans to find and kill the rogue killing humans and vampires alike. This is Jane’s first encounter with vampires who are not rogues being hunted. Jane uses her skinwalker talents to shift into animal forms in order to track and kill, she only allows those who are near and dear to her to be aware of this. In New Orleans everybody wants to know her business and the vampires can sense she is not fully human and their curiosity and appetites are aroused.

An ok read. Wasn’t really connecting with the main character. Why is the author supposedly creating a strong female lead and yet has demeaning phrases like “throws like a girl” in the text. I think that just annoyed me straight away.
