Terrible. If you are from Texas, this book will only serve to make you mad. I have been reading the Reacher novels in order and have generally enjoyed each one until Echo Burning, but I think I am through with them now. I got about halfway through the book and stopped reading after the author continued to pile on with negative and racist depictions of the "white" Texans in the book. He even bashes our great Border Patrol agents (a sign of his social agenda). Definitely alienated me from a good series of reads.

Good read. Thoroughly enjoyable Jack Reacher tale. Lots of twists and turns to keep you interested. Drags a bit in the middle, but the excitement ramps up at the end.

Flawed but Fun. The fun part is the same page-turning suspense in all the Jack Reacher novels. The flawed part is the portrayal of white people vs. Hispanic people. It is obvious to those who know Texas that the author doesn't know the issues, attitudes, or delightfully original and dryly humorous manner of speaking in West Texas. However, the point about corruptive possibilities inherent in elected judgeships is well taken.

Echo Burning. Not very good. Rather disappointing. Only thing that made this a page turner was my rush to be done with it.

Stereotypes abound. As with most of the Reacher books I feel that it is just a guilty pleasure. The book, like all of them needs better research. The book relies on racial and regional stereotypes and not a little racist insinuation. He paints white Texans as backwards, hillbillies.

Echo Burning. Excellent! After the first Reacher book--that I read without stopping--I started reading every one, and this one is just as good all the rest! What a great writer! I can hardly wait for his next one!

Echo Burning. My 1st Lee Child book, yet, certainly not my last. Very good author.

What did Texas do to Lee Child?. Spoiler Alert I am grateful that there was a Reacher book where he actually didn’t sleep with a woman he just met. Does it bother anyone else that he doesn’t seem to wear deodorant? I’m glad he at least has a toothbrush, but I can’t imagine how bad he must smell with all that intense action and no deodorant. I’m not sure why I begin a new Reacher book as soon as I finish each one. The first few I read were all really good, but it seems like every other one I read now is disappointing. This storyline was highly implausible, so that made it hard stick with to the end. Mr. Child’s opinion of Christian conservative Texans like me is painfully obvious. I think it is probably an opinion quietly shared by many authors, but Mr. Child spells it out loud and clear for you. Thankfully, his opinion of Texas and Texans is far removed from the reality I inhabit. It is quite tiresome the way that liberal individuals accuse conservatives of being racist. Liberals are the ones who seem dogmatic about continually pointing out and stirring up the differences in races and projecting opinions on different groups. As a Christian, conservative, Southerner, I know that God created every single one of us, and no one person is better than anyone else. Now, off to start the next Reacher in line, fingers crossed it’s a good one...

West Texas weather. Good story except I don’t believe west Texas desert stays hot all night long!

Great Character. If you like Jack Reacher, you will like this book.

Awesome. I have read all of Lee Childs' books. I wish he had a hundred more I could read.

Another great one. Typically great Jack Reacher book. The most underrated author in the business.

Echo Burning. I really enjoy this character. This was my fifth one. Great stories. I've enjoyed them all immensely. Thank you.

My least favorite Reacher novel. I enjoy the Jack Reacher series and try to overlook most of the flaws due to the interesting characters and storylines. I had to force myself to get to the end of this one. Not sure if Lee Child had a deadline to meet and few ideas at the time, but this is a must-pass book in the series. Terrible depiction of Texas. The storyline is so implausible it I don’t think it would have been published without Child’s name attached to it.

Good. But not Childs' best. Not enough Reacher. Nuff said.

Echo Burning. Awesome Jack Reacher novel. The story line keeps you anxious to turn the next page until the end. If you like Lee Child's Reacher Novels you'll love Echo Burning

Lee child is amazing. Couldn't put this book down. Love how all of the characters tie in together.

Echo Burning. OMG, this book is just superb. Lee Child has an amazing ability to put you in the moment. I'm reading his books in the order they were written and have yet to be even a little disappointed. I'm definitely hooked.

Good. Not one of my favorites...but still a "classic Reacher" and a good read.

Echo Burning ... Another Great Read with Twists. Cool plot, twists, unexpected turns, great read.

Good read!. Had some plot twists. I wasn't sure who was telling the truth till pretty much the very end of the book.

Has Lee Child lived in West Texas?!!LOL. It’s amazing how well LC captures what life is like in that part of Texas. You would think he lived there! Definitely one of the true to form Jack Reacher novels…drifted into a situation, kicked butt, saved the day and moved on. Quintessential Reacher! Recommended read. Enjoy!

Not any Texas I know. I've enjoyed the Reacher books until now. Echo Burning has made me seriously question continuing the series. Not only is it obvious Mr. Childs has never set foot in Texas, but he makes every non Hispanic character out to be a snarling racist and a poorly educated jerk. He also seems to believe that the beating of women is something of a sport in the state, or at least it's something that gets passed over with a wink and a nod. I've lived in Texas my entire life, traveled all over the state, spent time in the dusty dry west and big cities back east and I've never met any person that behaves in the way Mr. Childs seems to believe that we all do. It's a horrible distraction and an ugly portrayal of some of the nicest people that I've ever met. I'd be happy to introduce Mr. Childs to any of them with absolute certainty that not a one would reinforce his stereotype. I can only hope the books get better

Awesome!!!!!!. I've read this entire series more than once, absolutely brilliant!!!!!!! Must read, do yourself a favor!!!!

Not the best in the series. Long, drawn out, lacking the excitement of the other Child's other books.

Echo burning. Another great one in the series. Lots of twists and turns. Highly recommended.

Mostly entertaining. You kind of want the first half of the book to fast forward. Second half is much better. Gets a little preachy in the middle and leaves no grey area as to which side of immigration he is on. Dialogue presented as a bit forced, especially during Reacher's monologues. Does well to lead you down one road, and then back down the other a coupe of times, until you're not quite sure which side you feel empathy for.

Echo Burning. I've become a big Lee Childs fan and decided to hunt for some of his older books. This one didn't let me down and Reacher lived up to the image I've grown to love! Childs does a great job of keeping you guessing and making you feel foolish, when you think you have it pegged! Great read!

Second time was just as good as the first.. I read this one again as I have some others. I guess I'm hooked as I have read them all. Can't wait till new book is out.

Echo Burning. Classic Reacher. Great suspense and a real hard look at past and present racism in Southern Texas. Could not stop turning the pages.

Echo Burning. Echo Burning. This was a great book, hard to put down. One word will sum it up, Awesome!

Not my favorite Jack Reacher book . .. The plot seemed somewhat dull at first, but it never seemed to pick up speed. The entire book seemed to drag on forever, repeating itself. Many times I thought of just quitting it. The ending was too nice, and bundled up quickly, seemingly out of nowhere, everything fell into place . . when there was nothing there to begin with. Save your money.

Poorly researched rubbish. Lazy effort for an otherwise solid author. Clearly has never visited Texas and certainly not West Texas. Child relies on 50 year old tropes of rugged Texas and small town racism. Blah, blah, blah…what a clunker for the Reacher franchise.

Echo Burning. Best of the books so far (reading them in order), and the most believable. Good light reading. I think of Reacher as John in "Person of Interest" TV show.

Love reading. The book was great. Love the twist!

Tactfully inadequate. Love the story lines, but reacher must be the most tactfully inadequate veteran.

Echo burning. Only gave me 47 pages of the book to read. Bought the whole book not 47 pages

Echo burning. Very good book, Lee writes great books that you just can't put down. 📱🔫

Echo Burning. A good read! Lots of action and a good story. I think any Jack Reacher fan would enjoy it.

Echo. Lee child writes another cliff hanger, winding trails of mystery lies and deceit, excellent reading

Echo Burning. Ok read. Not as engaging as other Reacher novels. Good plot twists.

Echo burning. Another. Great lee child book. I think reacher is the best ever

Tom Swanson. Lee Child's books get better all the time. Jack Reacher is becoming an American folk legend. Keep up the imagination and creativity.

A gripping book from beginning to end. Yet another great read from Lee Child. I was hooked from the very beginning, and like other Jack Reacher books, I find that I just can't put them down. This was a fast reading book with a few twists and turns along the way, which really made it great. Like a true masterpiece, this books keeps you guessing about Carmen Greer until the very end. Like other Reacher books, you just can't help but put yourself in Reacher's shoes and see the world through his eyes. He certainly is my favorite character. I hope all of the Lee Child books find their way onto the iPad as this is my new favorite medium for reading!

It’s HORRIBLE. Don’t waste your time. Texas is NOT THIS HOT! Every other page is Heat and Humidity. Nope. Not true. Could not stand the book and about stopped.

Good but he made it too easy to figure out. Villain was obvious almost from his first appearance. Motive fell into place later. Still, a good yarn.

Echo Burning. Good as usual, but a bit of a stretch regarding Reacher figuring out the connections. Also, somewhat redundant in a number of places. Plot very complicated. Not really believable.

Echo Burning. Loved it easy read and hard to put down ....my first Lee Child book ...looking forward to the next one

Echo Burning. This my first Lee Child book and I loved it. I was on the dee of my seat and couldn't put it down.
