Mandatory for every female!!!. This blew my mind away. Reading this book was more important than studying for finals unfortunately. This novel speaks to the heart of every girl and every woman regardless of their background. Her writing is flawless, you'll devour it instantly. What I love about her work, is the dialogue this book sparks and a mentality of how we view family, love, loss, pain and joy.

Outstanding. I was required to read this book before starting my freshman year at MHS. I didn't think this was going to be a good book because required books for school are never good however I was hooked on the first page. This is truly the most amazing book I have ever read and it's written beautifully.

This was an amazing book to read. This book changed the way I look at beekeepers because no one knows how hard they actually work to get honey,my father was a beekeeper for sometime in his childhood and he tells me all of his stories and they're all really interest me but this book did the exact same thing because it is just plain awesome.

THIS BOOK IS PERFECT. Sue Monk Kidd outdid herself. Recommend for anyone ages 1-200. Really easy to read and a brilliant work of art. I laughed, cried, smiled, and resented all in one while reading this book. I was best friends with Lily for the short time spent reading this book. I honestly wish it was longer.

I had heard Oprah talked about the book awhile back and thought it might be interesting. WOW it was! I felt like a bee myself - watching the entire story unfold. Great summer reading. Found this by accident. I've not seen the movie but the book was a winner! I was hungry to find out more about each character. The romance of the South, the discord of the 60s, and the musings of a teenage outcast blend together in perfect harmony. I did not want it to end.

Great book. I watched the movie a long time ago and really loved it. Saw the book was only a few dollars and read it very quickly. It’s through the eyes of a 14 year old girl but as an adult, I felt I related to her so easily. This books gives you the feels for sure!! If you’re looking for a good book, read it!!

Good book for middle school girls. I found this story to be written in a simple and often schmaltzy way, but I would have enjoyed it in middle school when I was reading Nancy Drew books in the 60s.

Pretty Good. Had to read it for required summer reading. Although I'm not a bog reader I thought the book was meaningful and good. The only thing that I didn't like was how predictable it was. I would recommend this book to mostly girls.

It Made Me Cry. This book it truly amazing. Whenever I read it I would get lost in the book and it made me cry many times. I struggled alongside Lily, and mourned when May passed. This book is a work of art.

The Secret Life of Bees. I am an English teacher of 28 years, and this is the first novel I've rad for several years, and only because it is in the given curriculum for a course I teach. I am partial to non-fiction. Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was raised Catholic but am now agnostic. I can't explain or understand the existence of existence. Today, my seventeen-year-old daughter said that she was planning on eating more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches this school year (her last at home). I said, "Try the [raw, organic] honey [I'd recently purchased for the first time]." She said, "but it looks and smells funny." I explained why and said that someday she may find herself enjoying purple honey. She later said it was one of the best PBJs she'd ever had.

Love it. I love it beginning to end. Another book I can’t put down.

One of my all time favorites!. This book had my heart from the very first paragraph. I read it in one day. I Could not put it down. Now that I'm done, I will miss it.

Best book I've ever read.. I read this in high school and have read it numerous times since then; I'm 21 and in the Army Infantry now. My buddies can judge all they want but this book touches my heart every time.

Disappointed. I found that this book would never end. Sometimes it felt like the characters would never stop talking. The only chapters that held my attention were the last 2, which is nothing to write home about.

Amazing.. The first time I read this book was in the sixth grade, since then I have read it about 12 times. I'm only in 9th grade and this is one f my favorite books ever, and I would recomend it to just about anyone.

Thought provoking read. Nice book. Easy to pick up. Some tips on life and living.

Stinks. I would give this book half a star if it let me. There is no excitement in the story line, two or three women are mentioned that they have been shot. Also there is a lot of swearing including 3 or 4 n words. This book is terrible it is not worth the money.

Typically normal. This book was a sometimes interesting, somtimes boring read. I thought it was going to be an excellent book for the first 3 or so chapters then it took a turn for the worst until chapter 9. Then again, I am a 15 year old kid reading this for english class and I think girls my age and older would enjoy it thoroughly. The could relate and understand to the events going on throughout the story better.

Amazing. This book is wonderful if your not an idiot like the guy two comments down. It is a moving story, rife with emotional character development. And yes, even a few choice swear words that give an heir of authenticity to the time period it takes place in, about a way of life and thinking that was once a very real part of our own history. Great read :)
