Book is great, but publisher should be ashamed. The book is great, and I'd give it 5 stars. But the online edition is rife with typos, missing words, and weird punctuation. No publisher would dare put out a printed edition that was this sloppy. When the online edition is MORE expensive than the paperback (what is that logic?), I should at least get the same quality, not worse!

Dissolution. Cerebral and entertaining. Multidimensional characters and plot. Can't wait to read second installment.

Try something else….. Obtuse, convoluted and contrived. By “God’s blood”, or “God’s nails”, or “God’s whatever”….

Dissolution. Sansom is a great historical fiction/crime author.

Dissolution. For an old history buff and mystery buff, this book was a great reading experience. I thank the author for his fine imagination and his ability to weave a superlative tale. I look forward to the next story.

Dissolution. I love historical mysteries from the 1100's-1800's. I just can't believe that religion has been put in the middle of so many life or death things throughout the centuries and further that people actually believe that it would be oh so much better to be Catholic versus Protestant and not realize the underlying reasons for the wealthy to tell differing factions to go out and kill the people who believe differently than them in God's name. Religion has been the reason given for so many wars, when the wealthy, popes, kings, people in power, want things such as more wealth, more wealth or perhaps a way to get out of a marriage. I could not put this book down. If you like the Tudor era also, this would be an excellent book. king Henry VIII was not the main focal point though. The monasteries and what was going on with the King trying to take over the Church from the pope. And we call ourselves civilized.

Great Story. First time reading this author. I am hooked and will have to read his other books. This story captures your attention from the beginning. It is not overly drawn out as many authors have a tendency to do. If you are interested in the Tudor era this is a great story of historical fiction. Highly recommend this book.
