Confessions of a Prairie Bitch Book Reviews
Confessions of a Prairie Bitch by Alison Arngrim Book Summary
Confessions of a Prairie Bitch is Alison Arngrim’s comic memoir of growing up as one of television’s most memorable characters—the devious Nellie Oleson on the hit television show Little House on the Prairie. With behind-the-scenes stories from the set, as well as tales from her bohemian upbringing in West Hollywood and her headline-making advocacy work on behalf of HIV awareness and abused children, Confessions of a Prairie Bitch is a must for fans of everything Little House: the classic television series and its many stars like Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert; Gilbert’s bestselling memoir Prairie Tale... and, of course, the beloved series of books by Laura Ingalls Wilder that started it all.

Brilliant and Moving. I laughed out loud repeatedly. Allison has made sense out of her crazy life and it is a treat to read how she has done it. Very entertaining and meaningful!
Love this book. I knew I connected with that little brat!
Readable. If you can get past the arrogance coupled with the poor me victim putting brave face on it syndrome, then the book is good airport reading. Hopefully your plane won't get delayed because only the middle bit is of any interest. Do you know of over 20 people who worked 7 years with one another and never had one single dispute or upset? Allison does. According to her version they all got along so swimmingly well, just one big happy family. Such is not human nature but she is unwilling to tell the bad with the good and therefore provide her paying audience with a truthful account. What we have here ladies and gents is her cotton candy version of the truth intended only as a vehicle to catapult her charities into the limelight.
Loved it!. Great book! I’m not a reader, but I love little house and couldn’t put this down. I was pulled in from the first chapter. I have a whole new view on Nellie / Allison. Would recommend!
Real, enlightening and amazing. This is exponentially better than Gilbert's "A Prairie Tale"...a long-time fan of LHOP from 80s reruns/syndication I hated Gilbert's book so I almost didn't purchase this one. Arngrim tells her story without the "woe-is-me-child-actor" factor. Her book seems genuine and honest and I loved the theme of how her fictional character helped shape her in positive ways and helped her accomplish major feats in activism. She gives great insider Hollywood gossip of the show without putting anyone down too much. But it isn't loaded with all LHOP things. Even if you aren't a fan of the show, the wisdom and humor will keep you turning pages.
Great read!. Well written, and a great read!
Hysterically funny!. A must read for little house fans! Alison's book is fantastic and I cannot say enough good things about it. I laughed out loud and could put this sucker down. She shares juice tid bits from her little house days and never hits below the belt. Nellie, you are the best!
Very good!. Any fan of Little House, will like this book. Lots of information and details of the authors life at home and happenings on the set.
Couldn't put it down. One of the best autobiographies about growing up in Hollywood I've ever read.
Good read. I liked it. Any fan of the show should enjoy it. Very candid about her abuse as a child but not graphic. The behind the scenes stuff is great. Fun learning about how they made the show and what the actors were like.
Loved it!. I couldn't put this book down. I loved all the insight into her time on Little House. Her life after was just as compelling.
Prairie perspective. I once loved to hate Alison’s portrayal of Nellie Oleson and grew up watching all of Little House on the Prairie so I knew this would be an interesting take on Alison’s time on the show. Her no-holds-barred accounts of her time off-screen with family and cast members gave a well-rounded look into her life and I’m glad I read it.
RayRay. Best book ive read in a long time
