A must read for fantasy lovers. I have read this trilogy many times over. I can't get enough of it. The story transforms your imagination and puts it into overdrive.

Confused. Daughter of the Blood is the first book in the Black Jewels series and I don’t think this was the best way to start off a new series. This story has its ups and downs. It was really confusing at times and there were just so many points of view to keep up with that if you weren’t paying attention it was extremely easy to get lost or keep track of all the characters' perspectives. I don’t quite know what to make of this story. There were times when I enjoyed it and other times it wasn’t something I enjoyed reading and was having a really difficult time getting through it. The author has so many other amazing stories that I think she just missed the mark on this one.

Keep reading and you'll love it. I'm an avid reader, but to be honest, I had some trouble understanding the first few chapters because it's such a different type of story than I'm used to. I can't tell you what made me continue. It was not just good story telling or my curious nature, not even all the glowing reviews. It was just pulling me in and now that I'm starting the third and final book of this series, I can tell you 100% to push through if you're a little lost and unsure at first. I love this story and I am so excited, yet anxious, for the ending! Definitely recommend!!!!

Give it time. Hard to get into it’s really complex but if you can make it through it is so SO worth it!

The best!!. I absolutely love this series!!! I've read it more than once and still couldn't put it down. It's vivid, funny, horrifying, non- stop!!! There are some sensitive subjects so I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone, but if you like fantasy you'll love this!!

❤️❤️❤️. I adore this book and the entire series. It makes me laugh makes me cry. The author breathes such life into the characters and beautifully weaves the story. Every time I reread this books I’m impressed with them. I’m so excited to see that the series is continuing and I’m very happy to reread the series again to prepare for reading the new books.

Pretty good read. A really good book, not the beat fantasy novel I've read but pretty good I would definitely recommend it to someone who enjoys reading fantasy.

Outstanding and complex. This book deals with a magical and complex world. It also deals with some tough subjects few authors are willing to tackle. She gives voice to those who have endured trauma through a clever fantasy story without idolizing their pain and yet soothing and giving strength to their endurance. It's very well done. This is a real page turner. Be prepared to disappear from your real life for awhile.
