Catch up before the next one comes out. I began reading Lehane's books about PIs Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro after reading his excellent novel "Mystic River." I found both characters to be engaging and the plots to be rock solid detective novels. After reading all of them, I have been waiting for him to write another, and my wait will be over on November 2, 2010, when "Moonlight Mile" is released. In case you didn't know or remember, one of their books was adapted by Ben Affleck (a fan of these novels as well) as the terrific film "Gone, Baby, Gone."

Very good. I've read all of Lehane's books and enjoyed them all. I heartily recommend this mystery for it's good plot, good writing and good chacterization

Made Me. think a little

Racist novel. Every other page was racist and about race. The author seems to hate black people

Fast paced and compelling. I found the books pacing to be engaging. I thought the characters were fairly believable. I liked the plot and how it unraveled. A good quick read.

The times we find ourselves in.. Well written chronicle of how we got to where we are with hints of what has to be done to be better. A actually , it was much better to being merely well written.

Was a recommendation.... ... and I LOVED IT! Hard to put down. Witty characters and thought provoking content.

A drink before the war. Dennis Lehane never disappoints. When I lust for a solid read: plot, believable characters, tight dialogue and sharp prosaic narrative...I inevitably return after others fail. As well, there is little formula save Boston mean streets. Recommended highly!!!!
