Decent bookI've read a whole lot of fantasy books in my life. This is a decent book, but not at the upper echelon of fantasy stories. Interesting take on a fantasy epicNormally these type of books start with a young hero plucked from relative obscurity and thrust into a roll of which he or she struggles to do the right thing. This fresh new take, however dark it starts out to be, is an interesting twist on the typical fantasy. I have finished the fist two books in the series so far and can see multiple ways this story could turn, each one equally as good. Dalglish proves his story telling ability by keeping the reader guessing about the next turn the tale will take, with his in his in depth and sometimes macabre details about battle. As others have commented you do find yourself routing for the two brothers in all that they do, hoping they survive and complete their quest no matter how brutal or unjust. At the end of the novel I was left worried for the two brothers as though I was part of their lives (this is the mark of a good author and story in my opinion) and I was left wanting more.
