The most interesting book I have ever read.. The book starts out a little slow but once you get past the first chapter you are hooked. The characters are amazing and I went from crying to smiling to laughing to crying again.

Great book. My favorite part about this great book is that it was from a 5 year old perspective. This is definitely different from any other book I've played. I'm very excited for the movie to come. You'll definitely see me there the first day it's out. 10/10

Didn't finish it. Perhaps this review is unfair because I couldn't finish it but that says a lot for a person who devours books. Although the idea of it being written in a child's voice is unique and charming, I couldn't get past it. My youngest was four when I began to read it and I found the "child's voice" to be too immature. Even without the modeling of other children, I would think that entire days spent with an adult would produce more adequate vocabulary. Perhaps I'll return to it one day and update my review.

Really good book. I picked up this book because of the movie coming out, once I started it I couldn't put it down. I liked the fact it was narrated by the child because it left out the details of what we knew was happening to the mom but didn't need to read. Sometimes those details are the ones that keep you up at night. I enjoyed this book! Good read!

THE BEST. I'm not one to sit down and read, but from the start this book had me hooked. I finished it in 2.5 days, and it would of took me less time if I didn't have to leave the house for the day. It's an amazing book, definitely read it!!

Meh.. The first half of the book is better than the second. I found Jack's voice compelling at first but ultimately inconsistent. The quality of writing drastically declines beginning at the escape. It felt very rushed and disingenuous from that point on. If you're interested in this book, like I was, just get it from the library. It was not at all worth the $10 I spent on it.

Such a great book. It's one of those reads where u have to force yourself to stop reading. I have trouble finding books I actually like but this one I feel in love with. You just have to read this book. It's unexplainable

Sort of agree with wolfismaid. I really liked the book, well written, unusual plot etc. That being said, I looked at it like a "fairy tale". It is not believable, the characters would never ever have reacted as they did and you can bet their future would be so dark you wouldn't want to read about it. I find it difficult to believe that an author would not have researched more.

Honestly Amazing. I was not expecting this book to be as good as it was , the reading was a little complicated at first being that it was in the mind of a five year old . Though it has an impeccable storyline told for a creative point of view .

Beautiful story. I loved the film so much, but I knew the book would be even better. There is so much more in this story that we didn’t see in the film. The pacing of Jack learning about the world outside of room is just as perfect on paper as it is on screen. I absolutely loved this story. I loved the characters. I love Jack’s narration. Great book!

Amazing. I think many shy away from this book because of the subject matter. It is written from a child’s perspective, giving it innocence and a unique take. A fantastic book!

Room. I've read a lot of books and this is my new favorite. Such a unique way of writing from the child's point of view and really pulls on your heart strings. In one part my heart was racing so fast and I couldn't stop reading it until 3:00am because I just HAD to know what happened. Such a beautiful thing, the love between a child and their mother. A must read!

Awesome‼️. Just finished reading The Room. It kept me exhilarated the entire time, and the ending was brilliant. I stayed up half the night reading the book, and couldn't get out of bed till I finished. Can't wait to see the movie!

Innocent, Unique, Perspective. I was a bit hesitant to read the book, it was a bit hard to swallow. However, the 5 year olds perspective was so refreshing. I loved it! Very interesting figuring out what the boy was talking about, and what was actually happening. Good read!

Brilliant!!!. Brilliant!!! I have worked with children for many years and this author does the most amazing job speaking from the mind of the “child’. Extraordinarilty insightful. I was in the “ROOM” with him. I was in the “wardrobe” with him. Thank you for the most precious gift, "a look inside the mind of a child”.

Unforgettable. This book blew me away. It's about a kidnapped woman living and her son growing up in captivity and trying to acclimate into the real world. I was not prepared for all that happens. Everything is told from the little boy's point of view, and it seems so real. I had many wow, nervous, heart, etc moments. I loved it, and I don't think I will ever forget this story.

Room. Sad but good memories for Jack. I appreciate how the story is told by Jack in his own words. The ending is perfect.

Beautiful & Compelling. This book, and the accompanying movie are so, so well written. The emotions feel authentic, as if you were truly in the same situation that these people were in. Emotionally compelling, tear-tugging, this tragic-turned-inspiring story will surely make one realize the power of a mother's love, and the ability to heal from the monsters that haunt us every single day. There is some disturbing parts, so this is probably best reserved for an older audience--but if you can handle the sickening parts, you'll fall in love with this book. Instant classic.

Read This!. The story begins oddly but stick with it. You will begin to understand the perspective, about chapter three, and probably will never read a book quite like this one.

Loved it !!!. This is a wonderful story I really loved this story. It is sad and happy. I really like that the author made it sad but not too emotional and sappy. I suggest that everyone reads this book . You will be glad you did. But I am warning you : once you pick it up you won't be able to put it down.

Good read. It took me a while to get into the book because it is written in child's language. It soon picked up though, and I couldn't put it down! I am giving 3 stars because the beginning was slow, and the end was too fast. I finished it wondering what else happened and why it was so rushed. It's still a great book! I wish I could give 5 stars :(

Meh. I feel like this book could’ve been sooo good but the storyline is really boring after the past like 200 pages.

Sounds dark, but is an extremely rewarding read!. This book amazed me! It will truly bring out your child’s perception of the world combined with the safety and creativity a mother provides. As the story progresses there is darkness, but this is NOT a book that centers around evil, instead Donoghue focuses on the love a mother and son share and their resilence and reliability of each other. I feel better for having read this story! These are characters that stay with you and allow the reader to understand it is okay to take recovery steps within one’s own time frame.

Awesome book!. I started to read it and could not put it down, finishing it in 1 day. The 5-year-old point of view may discourage people from reading, but is is very well done and really opens the reader's eyes to how an innocent child views a truly horrible situation.
