Not up to par. The ending was predictable and boring. No real solid climax to the storyline and character development was sketchy at best.

Great book. Emily Griffin never ceases to amaze me with her books. It is so incredibly easy to become emotionally invested in the characters and storyline, to feel like you are experiencing everything firsthand. Great character and plot development, always leaving the reader with a sense of hope and good things to come.

Least favorite book of hers. Loved her writing as usual, but am upset with the plot and how it developed. I was basically sick at my stomach the entire time and only finished it because I couldn't accept the fact that she'd end the story the way it was. Wish I'd never read it.

Not your regular "happy ending". This book makes you think a lot, I was constantly wanting to finish it to find what happens. It was extremely realistic, and it made me wonder as well what would I do if it was me? It actually made me sad most of the times because it makes you realize that people are just full of flaws and you need to choose if they are worth the trouble. Anyways, it was very well written but it made me anxious and sad most of the time!

Great choice!. I loved this book! I actually stayed up all night just to finish. I literally could not put it down.

Usually love her work. Not this time.. I like to read to escape everyday life. This was very real, but it's a huge downer of a book. Instead of taking me somewhere fun, she took me to problems and issues. Very little happiness here. If you want to read to feel sad, read this book.

Your books make you think about all the different ways of looking at situations and the choices people need to think about. Good book. I thought it was a great book and had a hard time putting it down, but the ending could have been a bit better.

Boring. The book was really slow and boring, had no idea it was about cheating and marriage otherwise I would not have bothered reading it. It finally got somewhat interesting towards the end.

Left wanting more...... It started off very slow...so slow that I almost gave up on it. I think they could have gotten more into the story of Nick/Valerie...By the time it got interesting, it was over. Very little ending for Valerie. What I did like was they fact that Tessa is Dex's sister from Something borrowed. I liked the tie in. It also let us know that Darcy and Rachel become friends again. :)

Sort of bland. The book is well written but unfortunately I had a lot of trouble staying interested. I finally finished the book and was left thinking....that’s it?

Not what I expected from Emily Giffin. I read this book after her first three popular books and even after Where We Belong. I have to say that this is her worst. I understand that she is trying to show that marriage and life can be difficult and full of uneasy decisions but she makes that point in a much more upbeat manner in her other books. This book is downright depressing and within the first few chapters I could tell what was going to happen - I ended up skimming the rest of the book and even that felt like a stretch. Hopefully her next book (one and only) will be more like her original series.

the best of giffin's books so far. ... which is saying a lot since the others are really good :)

Heart of the Matter - simply amazing!. I can't put into words how amazing this book reads. It so skillfully written with a plot that has you reflecting on your own marriage/relationship. It's a page turner that you won't want to put down until you reach the end and leaves you longing for more. A must read for everyone!

Good book. Very good book! Now off to read another Emily Giffin Novel...

Heartfelt!. What a heartfelt story. I completely agree that you never know what you'll do in a situation until you're in it. I believe this story is a perfect example of that in so many ways! I truly enjoyed it. 4/5 not 5/5 because the ending is too cut off I want to know more about Valerie and Charlie. Other than that-- fabulous!

Amazing. Loved this book, couldn't put it down. Finished it in only a few days... Heartbreaking and powerful at the same time.

Good book. Emily Giffin is my favorite author. I thought this was a really good book. I didn't like that there was an affair, but it was very intriguing and it was a good way to put myself in Tessa's shoes and what I would do if my husband ever cheated on me. I couldn't put the book down, though. Definitely recommend this one.

Good Book, Blah Ending. Yes, the book is a can't put down read and the frequent back and forth between characters definitely kept me intrigued. But the ending...I hated! So disappointed. I flipped the page and all I could think was, that's it? The read was good but seemed like a quick half-hearted ending in an attempt to wrap it up and end the story. Not bad,but not great..

Disappointed.. I loved the first 10 chapters but when I realized it was about cheating I couldn't read it. I skipped to the end. She is still a fantastic author. Just not a fan of this book.

Not her best.... It took me a few times to read this book. It just start out so slow, and I wasn't interested. I am glad I finished it though, but it wasn't her best work. (To me) my favorite is Something Borrowed!

Heart of the matter. This book started out interesting but quickly was overly detailed about what each character was thinking and feeling. It certainly is true to life but day to day detail isn’t all that interesting. Very slow read and I skipped or skimmed over the middle part of the book.

Must read. I hated to put this book down. I was hooked from the beginning and connected with the characters instantly. She wastes no time digging into the heart of the story and keeps you wanting more!

Slow to start. Not a bad book- just not a great one. Defiantly a slow start and I almost put it down. Towards the end things picked up- some characters were developed very well while others were not. I had a difficult time understanding how some of the events came to be. If your looking for something ok, this may not be a bad book for you. This is the second book I read from this author, liked the other better.

Heart of Matter. Omgosh!!!! This is truly one of my favorite books from Emily Giffin. She is absolutely talented. I did not put this book done literally I didn't sleep through the night bc I couldn't let go I just needed more....I absolutely loved it!!!!

Wonderful!!!. Another wonderful page turner by Emily Giffin. I was intrigued from beginning to end. I didn't know how things would turn out for the characters, but the ending was what I had hoped would happen. Grab a box of tissues and enjoy! :-D

Conflicted. This book broke my heart. I cried through 250 pages. I hated what I was going through as I lived my biggest fears through Tessa. At times I even considered putting the book down and not finishing it- moving onto something brighter instead. But I am glad I finished. Although it is fiction, there was much truth to this book. Much hope to be found as it tackles an issue so many people question how they'd handle. I finished the book at 4:00 am and hugged my fiancé tightly for 20 minutes while he slept. I feel like I'll always remember this book and the issues it addresses. I feel a lot less scared since finishing the book, which surprised me since halfway through I was afraid it was causing me to feel grief, suspicion, anger and hopelessness. So. GEEZ this book is really written to skillfully involve it's reader.

Wow.. I've never read a more insightful description of the situation these characters are in. Having experienced it myself, I was astonished by the truth in this story. Great read. Highly recommend.

Slow to start. I personally thought it started off slow and didn't hold my interest like the other two books, however, once it did grab my interest I could not put it down. I am glad to have read it and it makes you think about the choices you make in life.
