This is a great book. Great story, believable characters, lots going on, nothing overdone. If you like explosives and reading about the intricacies of their detonation, you want to read this book. Go.

It's OK. I bought the book to read on vacation and it was a decent poolside read. It is, however, definitely a right-wing slanted story, with heroes made of oil company CEOs and childishly patriotic themes. If I were a Muslim or of Arabic descent I would probably be offended by the stereotypes and anti-Arabic attitudes Coes adopts. For example, when the FBI and an intergovernmental agency group are discussing possible attacks on American energy facilities, someone suggests detaining all employees of middle eastern descent, nobody questions the idea and they go ahead round them up. There's nothing overtly racist, just the type of crap you see on Fox News. That said, the action and storyline got me and I finished it in a day, fairly entertained.

Killer first book. Great characters, globetrotting, outstanding action scenes a LOT of moving parts with great pacing and of course, can’t have a good hero without a great villain. Felt like I was watching a really good action thriller in my head. Only thing was I feel like Dewey was only good- not great. Maybe he’ll get that way. It is only the first story.

Power Down. Its a power up. Now we have a new hero and a real man of man. Have enjoyed every moment holding my iPad and cannot wait for his return.

Power Down. By far one of the best thrillers I have ever read.

Really?. I bought this book after reading the very favorable reviews on here, and I must say that apparently I did not download the same book some of the other reviewers did. I read reviews like "action packed" and "similar to Vince Flynn". Really? Cos that's not what I read at all. I am a huge fan of the action / thriller genre. This book did not meet my expectations at all. The book was far from action packed. In fact, I found it quite boring. The few close combat sequences were clunky and amateurish, and the technical inaccuracies in this novel abound. For example.....8 state troopers on a road block, planning to intercept a known terrorist, are gunned down in a few seconds by a guy popping out of the trunk with a pair of 9mm sub-machine guns??!! Really?? Has the author ever heard of body armor? Did he do any research into police vehicle clearing tactics at all? On top of that, these state troopers were allegedly armed with a pair of M-60's. What?!?!?! The New York State Police are armed with belt fed machine guns now?!?!?! And they can't take out a guy who pops up from the trunk of a vehicle?!?!?!? That was just ONE of the poorly written scenes in this book. Action / thriller fans deserve better than this garbage. If you are a fan of Vince Flynn, Barry Eisler, Brad Thor and the like, do yourself a favor and skip this one.

Excellent! Must read!. Well written and in similar style to Vince Flynn and Brad Thor books, which are equally great.

Who’s story was it?. The book was a jumble of a number of different stories. It jumped all over the world with the stories of good people, of evil people, and even so much as uninvolved people. To follow it required a good bit of suspension of disbelief.

Power Down. If you hate anything Arab - this is for you to get your rocks -or should I say rockets - off. the writer didn't even bother with rudimentary research..However, his intended audience is as ignorant as he is. Unfortunately, I turned out the biggest dupe for wasting money on such garbage.

Preposterous. Apparently written for teenage boys. Very poorly written, laced with improbable, or even impossible premises. Save your money. Buy Silva, Thor, Berenson, if you like the genre, but this is junk.

Terrific exciting book. I have discovered a new favorite author! Power Down was the second of Coe's books that I've read. Quality and plot are outstanding. Try it, you to will become a fan.

Absolutely Fantastic Reading. I've never heard of Ben Coes until I stumbled upon him searching for a thriller. With Clancy and Flynn have passed on I needed another author. Boy did I find one!! This book is as thrilling as a book can get. It's FANTASTIC!! His writing style reminds me of another Joel C Roseberg; exciting from beginning to end. I'll need to look at his other writings. Hope they're as good as this one.

Best new thriller author since Tom Clancy of the 80's!. Very well written. Fast paced, flows well, good characters. I'm hoping Dewey is back soon in fact! Keep on writing!!!

A really good read. Exciting, fast moving, well thought out and fun to read.

Power Down. I have enjoyed reading this book. It is very exciting and intense. The action never stops. I read it in three days only putting it down when having to do other things. I will surely read the next book in the series

A nail biter. Great book. First time I ever read any of his work but will definitely be reading future volumes.

Power Down is full power. I read this book after hearing a recommendation from Vince Flynn. Wow Coes has a new fan, this book was extremely well researched and written. Action and information made me skip football to finish it.

Racist Drivel. A half-decent writer, but this book and apparently the driving force behind this author’s offerings is racist Islamophobia and an extreme right wing world view. I would advise anyone to check his Twitter feed before gifting him a book purchase.

Great book. Proofnick is a moron. His review is jaded by his liberalism. I myself am an independent and I did not consider this book offensive in any way. Great writing. Very exciting and appropriately complex plot. Highly recommend. 911 was an attack on this country perpetrated by our enemies, who were all Arabic. Why is a work of fiction about terrorism perpetrated by Arabic people necessarily racist?

For Fox News lovers. If you love Fox News and hate the New York Times you will LOVE this book.

Great novel. Very impressive debut. I loved the characters and the details regarding finance. This is a series I will continue to read for sure

Action reader. You get what you pay for in this book. It is full of action,sometimes a little over the top but definitely a quick read. I and others don't read this for literary perfection we read it for enjoyment. It was worth the $7.99 and I for one will read another one of his books.

Review for the closed minded Libs. I will adjust my review up or down after reading the whole book. But for the few dolts that review it low, and based not on it being a good or bad read but rather their ideological bias, this is for you. It's a NOVEL! And really, a novel about terrorists making a major strike to take down the "Great Satan" isn't a plausible theme, let alone a truly possible scenario? If something similar to this, or "One Second After" (GREAT book) actually occurs, you will likely be among the pariah that will plague the people who have retained some common sense, caution, and preparedness. But of course, you'll have your Kumbayah songs to nourish you through it all.

Power Down is supercharged. Great book. It is an excellent read with good character development and gripping plot. I'll be waiting for the next Dewey Andeas edition as long as I tunes doesn't greedy with the sales price.

Power down. Great story but overuse of the f....... word was distracting and added nothing to the story.

Good introductory novel. Pretty darn good. A fast paced thriller. Get comfortable in your chair because this book will keep you up until late at night turning pages until the end (or is it the beginning?)

Power Down. A fast past thriller, I started it late in the evening; that was stupid, as I couldn't put it down. The action flows, fast. Creating such synergies of plot and character that I hardly put it down for the next few hours. A great read from a new name in the tradition of today's best action and triller genre. Power down. Good story, good read. In the vein of Tom Clancy for detail and believability. Get it.

Enthralling. Rarely is a gem of this magnitude - this brilliance - unearthed. When it is, it captures not just the imagination but the moment. Author Ben Coes crafts a masterpiece in Power Down, and in so doing he establishes himself among the best authors in this super-heated genre and sets a benchmark high and wide for future projects. Obviously Coes enjoys research and detail because this story is chock full of the intimacies of people, places and things that bring it to life. I'm clearly jealous of his talents. And while I Powered Up through this reading, I must make sure to take his next works and mete out the experience. Extraordinary maiden voyage.

Power down. This is a page turner and deserves to be in your list of beach or long airplane ride books. Nice twists here and there keep you in reasonable suspense. While no new ground was broken in plot innovations, as you can pretty much follow the suspense without being too jolted, the writing is pretty good and to the point. One leaves the book anticipating the sequel but this time one will raise the bar on expected innovations. If not, the author will not break into the inner circles of elite suspense writers. However, he is almost there with this book. 4 of 5 stars.

Good read. Good read. It definitely fit the bill as I was struggling to find something to occupy the brain while waiting for the new books to come out from Vince Flynn, Brad Thor and other cast of favorite authors.

Great read. I found this book impossible to put down. Great story, characters and pace. Highly recommend. Downloaded the 2nd book from this author immediately.

Ok. Good read if you can stomach the typical American superiority and ignorance. Somewhat immature and a worrisome worldview, but promising. The plot is good, the action great, captivating read.
