Good. This book begins the amazing series of the Lioness. I recomend the Immortals, also by Tamora Pierce

Alanna: The First Adventure enthralls from the first chapter to the climactic end. She's fierce, spunky, loyal, driven, and brave: essentially a great role-model for any teen or pre-teen girl. Another bonus is that this is the first book of the first quartet in the Tortall series by Pierce that follows four amazing women. A young reader can easily grow with the books.

One of my favorites. I've always loved a good heroine novel. This book speaks to me in the way that i feel like the main character. It feels like how hard Ender is pushed in Ender's game with the magic and fun of the Webmage series.

Amazing writing.. I started off reading tricksters choice and tricksters Queen. Those are two of my favorite books. Reading about the lioness is just as captivating. I love the way Tamora pierce writes.

A great YA fantasy. An excellent book and very well-written. First read all of her books as a girl and still love them the second time through as an adult. You'll love this fiery haired and stubborn heroine.

How could you not love this book?. Amazing characters and an addicting plot. I have read almost all her series but this book was my first one of them. Truly amazing start to an amazing series.

Just great. I loved this series the first time I read it, and it's still fun this time through.... Only thing I found irritating is the mix up with the main characters twin brothers name... Half of the time it's Thom as it should be, the other half it's Thorn.....

One of the best series out there!. It haa everything, great characters, strong plotline, romance, characters you want to punch in the face, and the main character is amazing. One thing I noticed is the summary. I find it funny how it says Thom pretends to be a girl. This isn't true by any means, and is sort of ironic considering how in the third book Alanna specifically tells a girl that her brother did NOT dress as a woman, and how stupid that would be.

Great. This book is great! I love all of Tamora Pierce's books!

awesome :). i loved this book, it was full of magical and fighting elements, at first i thought this book was weird but i just couldnt stop reading about alanna's adventures,what a thrilling novel :)

Once you start, you’ll be hooked.. I read this book from the suggestion of a young friend about 10 years ago. I have read almost author this author has written since then! I am hooked for life! I appreciate the heroine story as it’s full on adventure without being preachy. These are stories I look forward to letting my kids borrow when they’re of age.
