teen essential. i’ve read plenty of books but i always come back to this book no matter what. i found this book in the 5th grade and i’m now a junior. this book was a very real and accurate depiction of mental illness i could relate to. the story telling and chbosky’s writing was amazing. i seem to fall in love with this book over and over and i always feel so empty when i finish it. it made me cry a lot, but a good kind of cry. i will always treasure this book and i feel like it’s an essential for anyone to read.

A great read for all ages. I feel that everyone could have interpretted the meaning of this book in a different way, and could take what they wanted from it. Hopefully, it helped you look at your life a little differently by the end, like all great books should do. I just don’t know how much of a revelation it was considering the “lesson” it was trying to teach has already been spoken about. But all in all, I thought the book was really good.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a hit. In this novel of letters told from a naive 15-year-old teenager, Charlie, who tells countless ailments of his life story. After his friend commits suicide, Charlie struggles and worried about his freshman year of high school and is tested to become more sociable by his wise Advanced Literature Teacher. He meets two strange people who open his to the endless possibilities of the ideas of hope and love. This novel is masterpiece that tells shows the true emotions of some random teenager who is just trying to find their way.

Clssic. If you watched the film and now want to read the book you will be very joyous with the experience. This book is amazing and provides so many details into a young life. There are all the important details from the film and many more to help develop the story. I have always been someone to read a book after a film so my hopes aren’t to high, but even if you are just reading this for fun or just because it’s a great choice. It is such an easy read with the letter format used and truly feels personal. I enjoyed this book thoroughly and this is one that I have reread multiple times both with my paper copy and with this digital one.

A Masterpiece. I can say that I truly understand the connection other readers have with this book. Not too often do you get a character who expresses his loneliness in such a way that’s authentically relatable. Reading Charlie’s letters and his experiences really makes you stop and think. The novel starts with Charlie, a freshman in high school, seemingly all alone, with not much shape to him, but his trauma. You get to grow with him and see him become his own person. This book shows just how important it is to remind your loved ones that they’re loved, that the matter, that you see them. This book will forever hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for such an excellent read and relatable character for this lonely soul.

My favorite book of all time. I recommend this book to anyone who hasn’t read it. The characters are so beautifully written Im planning on reading a second time over. Kind of book that makes me want to write an essay.

Wine wine wine. Lots of teenage wining and it drags on a bit. Left me in a depressive state - like an empty shell. Not much substance I got from this book. The film was way better at conveying the themes that eventually get dragged out in the novel.

It should be 3 stars. But that last letter earned it 4.

Speechless. Wow. I honestly don't know what else to say. The characters in this story were so unique and so perfectly flawed that every reader, no matter who they are, can connect to someone in this story. Absolutely stunning.

SO. GOOD.. This book is my favorite book for a reason. After reading it, not to be cliché, but I definitely feel that I looked at the world differently, and at the subject of mental disability differently. I understood feelings more and honestly I think that a truly good book should change the way you see things after you read it. The plot and characters were developed splendidly, it has a couple plot twists but still maintains its realistic manner, and is overall a book that I would recommend to everyone I meet.

Impactful for adolescents and young adults all around. Chbosky writes an enthralling book that really taps into the mind and spirit of youth. Not afraid to shy away from important messages of trauma and abuse, you really feel for all characters involved, none being one dimensional, but fully realized and lived in people. This is a must read book that can enjoyed by just about anyone.

Deserves more than 5 stars. Utterly amazing. I watched the movie when I was about 14. Changed my life in so many ways. Reading the book answered a lot of questions I had. It really did change my life! Absolutely love this book.

Charlie.. In order to read this book you have to understand the feeling of being alone. You have to understand what it's like to be an outsider and know what it's like to watch everything in life happen to you. It also helps when you understand how mental illnesses work, but once you do this book will open your eyes in so many ways. This book is truly beautiful. Charlie has a brilliant mind.

The book is awesome. This is a very emotional and heartwarming story that I would recommend for anyone who is feeling down. This book is a great way to pass the time, it provided me with hours and hours of fun along with hope that everything is going to be alright. If I could I would rate this 10 stars because it is amazing I love this book you should definitely read this book

Ahhhhh. I loved this book, i really did its just that now im going through tremendous good book withdraw and i dont know what to do, i dont know anything else that could sum up to how much i loved this book and i feel like now im just sitting here doing nothing when i could be reading.

Breathe taking. I absolutely love this book. After watching the movie multiple times I finally read the book and felt just as great about reading it as I did watching it. But the book helps me understand Charlie and the things he’s going through so much more and I love him for being so honest even when it’s hard to understand.

10/10 would recommend. Beautiful story that gets you feeling some type of way. It puts the beauty and tragedy of life together in words in a way you wouldn't think was possible. It makes you think and reflect and look forward and it reminds you that life is for living.

Dv. Slow but delightful

Still by far my favorite book. This is my all time, absolute favorite book. It is so engaging, and so unique. Unlike many young adult books, it is not corny at all, but very realistic. You feel like you're literally in the book, and it really opens your mind and think about the world differently. I connected so well with this book, and I have yet to find one comparable to this. Btw, sorry my writing is bad, I haven't read a book in ages!

Love it!!!. Let me tell you, I hate reading! But one day I started reading this and I couldn’t stop! It’s funny, and also touching and I can relate to this book in a lot of ways! I plan on watching the movie afterwards and I’m so excited to find out what happens next! I started reading it on a Tuesday and now it’s Sunday and I’m on page 183! Crazy!!!

Gorgeous!!!. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a gorgeous book, Stephen Chbosky really genuinely connected with how it feels like to be a teenager with mental health issues, even in 2020, this book still represents how it feels to be misunderstood and overlooked. I will always love this book!

A True and Relatable Story of Adolescence. I am still a teenager myself, but this book has already moved my emotions and life in so many directions. I always knew I wasn't alone in my loneliness, but now I know that none of us are.

Refund please. I don’t understand why everything has to be about gay people. Why is homosexuality forced down people’s throat. I want a refund.

Raw.. Fantastic book from beginning to end. It only takes a matter of pages to feel like you’ve known Charlie for your entire life, and the beautiful thing about it is, you never really find out who Charlie is. He represents struggle, pain, confusion, growing up, and most importantly: perseverance and strength. Charlie is each of us and parts of everyone we’ve ever known. The story is beautiful and made me cry for pages on end, even when no specific events were happening. Perks of being a Wallflower is raw and real. You’re invited, through a series or honest letters, into the mind of a relatable, genuine and kind kid. I urge you to accept this invitation.

10/10. I watched the the film a year ago and right after watching it I bought the book on my phone, I didn’t get to read it until a few days ago. Not because of some technical issues but simply because I put some tasks off, my point being, every single sentence I feel deep within my heart, Charlie is a wholesome character and his story as a whole is mesmerizing. I’ll recommend this book everywhere.

The perks of being a wallflower. This book has opened my mind about so many things. Made me cry so much, not because it was sad, but because of the beauty of it, the innocence behind the main character. My favorite book by far, I'd recommend it to anyone

Amazing. A truly amazing book. Don’t hesitate, just read it. It has a powerful message that fills up your soul. I read this book while I was in the middle of dealing with some childhood trauma and honestly it was exactly what I needed. It’s a pragmatic view of the brokenness all around us and that far to many of us have been a victim to in our youth, but it also softly and colourful highlights the parts of life that make it worth living despite the trial.

Loved it. One of the best books I have ever read. Once I started, I couldn’t put it down. It really puts life’s issues into perspective, from a spectators point of view. And keep in mind, lots of people still suffer from this stuff today. Wonderfully written, and hauntingly beautiful. It is a memorable book and I can’t wait to watch the movie! 10/10 highly recommended.

My favorite book by a lot. I recommend this book to anyone. My best girl friend recommended it to me, commenting that I was exactly like the main character, Charlie, except without all the crying. As I was reading, almost every detail was perfect, his marks in school, and even his peculiar way of thinking . . . I've learned a lot about myself through the book, and want to read it again for sure. I can't even explain how much I love it . .

The perks of being a wallflower review. This book was unlike anything I've ever read before. I tend to like structure but writing is art and for me art and structure seem to be a bit of a paradox. Well here's another paradox, the obscurity of this book makes everything so clear. The introverted protagonist embodies qualities that I think everyone possesses to a certain degree. Charlie is selfless and insecure and doesn't really know or adhere to the rules of social aptitude. His family is flawed but beautiful. When his sisters boyfriend hit her it really effected me the way Charlie saw it, as the boyfriend just standing up to his own bully. Despite this analogy it still felt so wrong to me but you could connect to the sister and her boyfriend. I wanted to finish this book but I also wanted it to last forever. This and "a thousand splendid suns" are the only two books that have ever made me cry. I'm fifteen years old, I loved this book, thank you for reading my review!!

An essential read.... An important well written book which everyone can identify with and which everyone should talk about.

Infinite.. I just finished this book. I'm lost for words. It was and will always be my favorite book. I cried with Charlie, I highlighted his quotes and little sayings, I laughed at how stupid he was sometimes, I got angry at him, but most of all I loved him. I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie, and I hope Stephen writes more books. I feel like my life is complete now that I've read this. I think I'm going to start reading it again. I'd recommend to anyone else! Xoxo
