Great story!. This is the greatest TNG book to be written since Imzadi. Contains interesting additional backstory info about Dr. crusher, that actually coincides with the show. The first page pulls you in and you will probably NOT stop reading until you are finished. Picard and Crusher had great chemistry on the show and everyone wanted to see it acted upon, well here it is and it is GREAT. I highly recommend you purchase this one, you want regret it, especially if you enjoyed Imzadi. There are more than enough TNG book flops, this is not one of those. What are you waiting for? Get it a d start reading!

Implausible, even for Star Trek. Friedman seems rather able to remain faithful to the Star Trek mythos concerning the minutiae of the day to day lives of the characters with whom we have become so familiar, but on major plot points, he seems unable to maintain plausibility whatsoever. SPOILER ALERT! Come on! Are we expected to believe that Starfleet Command would send Dr Crusher, NOT, mind you, a trained under-cover operative, but it's newly appointed HEAD OF STARFLEET MEDICAL on a perilous under-cover mission that had far-reaching political ramifications, COMPLETELY ON HER OWN, with NO BACKUP? And then just a few days later, send Picard after her with all kinds of insider assistance that should have been assigned to her to begin with? There could have been a zillion other ways to set this up! This is just LAZY. I was almost ready to close the book when Riker, Captain of the Titan, who, though closer to his feelings than Picard, has still made countless life and death decisions with steady stoicism, burst into tears in Vale's arms like a little girl. But this Crusher set up? I'm frankly INSULTED and want to throw this book out the window. Unfortunately, all I can do is delete it from my iPad which is distinctly less satisfying.
