The Guardian by Margaret Mallory Book Summary

From a USA Today bestselling author comes a "heartwarming and emotionally gripping" (Monica McCarty, New York Times bestselling author) Scottish second chance romance about a Highland knight and the wife he left behind.

After years of fighting abroad, Ian MacDonald comes home to find his clan in peril. To save his kin, he must right the wrongs from his past . . . and claim the bride he's long resisted.

As a young lass, Sv¨leas depended on Ian to play her knight in shining armor. But when his rescue attempt compromised her virtue, Ian was forced to marry against his wishes. Five years later, Sv¨leas has grown from an awkward girl into an independent beauty who knows she deserves better than the reluctant husband who preferred war to his wife. Now this devilishly handsome Highlander is finally falling in love. He wants a second chance with Sv¨leas - and he won't take no for an answer.

Very enjoyable. I'm rather picky about romance novels these days. As I've read so many, it's hard to find an author that doesn't cross the same t's and dot the same i's as the rest of the multitude. I'm pleased to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book; Indeed, I enjoyed the entire series. Not only is the author adept at storytelling, she's also an excellent historian.

Great!. I am new to this author, but I can say without a doubt; I am hooked. The author really pulled me in to the story from the beginning. I really liked the sarcastic banter used throughout the book. It would not be the same without it.

Great book. If you like Scottish historical romance, you will love this book. The Guardian is well written, tells a great story, and is a page turner. I finished it in two days. :-)

Wow!. I have to admit I was skeptical at first as I wasn't familiar with this writer but after the first chapter I was hooked! Great story line filled with dynamic characters. No insepid fainting misses or poetry spewing men. Ms. Mallory shows us a vision of Scotland that isn't always pretty but is always engrossing.

Couldn’t finish. The reviews were good so I figured I would enjoy it. I found it boring and confusing and wasn’t too sure what was really happening. I found the two main characters boring and I just couldn’t bother anymore.
