A great ACD book. Arthur Conan Doyle has some better short stories, but The Sign of Four is truly one of the best Sherlock Holmes books. Despite the fairly straightforward cases compared to Agatha Christie's Poirot based cases, Sherlock Holmes is a character to be awed at. This book gives a trailer of why you should continue to read more of Sherlock Holmes.
Pure Holmes. Uncomfortable with the imperialistic tone. Story is good
A great boat race. This story is an old favorite. The boat race is exciting & the 'irregulars' are a fun addition to the story.
I really like these books. I have read the first two books and now I'm a Sherlock Holmes fan. I'll read all the books, that's for sure.
Awesome. Another great Sherlock Holmes story!
The Sign of the Four. An interesting read. Even on an iPhone.
Gemsโ fate. I really hoped that Small had actually hidden the stones somewhere else rather than throw them in the river and Holmes would find them. I guess I am more materilistic than I admit
The sign of the four. Excellent writing
Sign of the Four. Wonderful, classic Mr. Holmes and Dr. Watson . . . So charming a tale!
The sign of the four. As in most of these books, Doyle is a wonderful wordsmith. In this book, however, I lost interest in the telling of the treasure finding and the process of bringing the treasure to England. Roger
Good as it is. ....
The Sign of Four. It is always refreshing to step back and visit old writing in its original state. The style was vey matter of fact and it gives you an incredible sense of the era and values associated with it. A thoroughly enjoyable read and one that has stood the test of time.
The Sign of the Four. Fun Classic Conan Doyle. Captivating to the very end.
Awesome Book. Sign of Four was fantastic. Doyle's action packed writing keeps the reader interested. I just wish the book was longer. The ending was mildly unsatisfactory.
Classic. Couldn't put it down. My phone is at 7% life. On to the 3rd novel.
Sign of the Four is very good. Great book. A Study in Scarlet (his first Sherlock Holmes novel) is his best. His 2nd (the Sign of the Four) is 2nd best and Hound of the Baskervilles is last of the Conan Doyle novels I've read .
Not ACDoyle's Best. Nothing wrong with the specific edition. As to the story, though, and setting aside all the factors that are inconguous now vs. when it was written, for poor aptitude at time travel is an inapt criticism of authors, it has issues. The writing style is wooden, the character development is flat, the application of Holmes' particular intellectual skills is less noteworthy than in late stories, and the introduction of homicidal cannibals seems a crutch, a la Burroughs in the Tarzan stories, and a substitute for more sophisticated or credible plot development.
The sign of the four. Terrific book! Classic Holmes! Great read on the iPad.
Horrible. Hate it hope is dies
Excellent!. Excellent, as always. Conan-Doyle is a master storyteller.
Classic!. This one is a bit dull in the final quarter. Splendid, otherwise.
Good as always. Doyle hit another home runโโโ๐๐๐
Holmes!!!. The Sherlock Holmes stories by A.C. Doyle are always intriguing and the true precursor to the modern detective story. Whether you like Jim Rockford or Endeavor Morse, you will find Holmes pleasing. While Watson is certainly more narrator than participant, it is always enjoyable to imagine a competent Watson instead of the incredulous Nigel Bruce of the well-known movie series. Definitely recommend this and all the Doyle stories to fans of the RDJ/Jude Law films and PBS viewers. The game is afoot!

What a ride. Sherlock Holmes, the Sign of Four is a challenging reading in its old fashioned vocabulary and obscure language. However this does lead to the plot becoming slightly confusing, especially as the story begins to build up context. Also the book does have a habit of introducing way to many characters. They don't however make the mistake of trying to give each and everyone insignificant character a whole chapter or so to build his/her character up, but the vast array of colourful, yet plentiful characters can seem daunting at times. Overall this is another classic Sherlock Holmes book with all the charm of his observational skills and interesting personality. However few but crucial mistakes are made which stop this book from being the best it can be.
Good. Classic
More classic Holmes. Its FREE, well presented and the second appearance of Holmes. Sadly no illustrations but still a fine read and a quick one also, a short entertaining novel.
A great read. Another really clever and exciting book by Sir Doyle!
Classic Conan. A brilliant Holmes event. As usual you are submerged in the milieu of the era. Plenty of action in this one as well, far better than the more famous Hound-based inquiry.
Good!!. In the words of the Virgin Mary bloody good!

Classic Crime. Truly a masterpiece.
Brilliant. Unbelievable that this novel is over 120 years old
Sherlock Holmes at his best.. An excellent Sherlock Holmes tale, complete with the uprising in India, pirates, murder, mystery and even a love story for Watson. A rollicking read.
Helpful!. Great for no cost, had a few minor spelling mistakes (such as: "Homes" instead of Holmes).

The Sign of the Four. The story was narrated in a way that keeps the reader hooked. Sir Arthur's creativity and story telling abilities were very excellent!
Good!. Good
Fair. Not much deduction from Holmes
Old school writing at its best.. Absolutely brilliant!
