Dracula by Bram Stoker Book Summary

An Apple Books Classic edition.

Few characters have seized readers’ imaginations quite like Count Dracula of Transylvania, the hero of Bram Stoker’s classic. The 1897 novel put vampires front and center on the cultural map, providing direct inspiration for an entire subgenre of bloodsucker fiction - including blockbusters like theTwilight series and Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles - and spawning hundreds of movie adaptations!

Stoker’s novel is a thrill ride, following Dracula as he moves from Transylvania to England in search of fresh blood, while a small but dedicated group attempts to thwart him. Want more Stoker? Check out his great-grandnephew Dacre Stoker’s 2018 novel, Dracul.

Dracula. Great classic book!😃

Loved it. Great book to read. A little hard to follow at first but you get the hang of it and it stays interesting

The Dracula Epic.. A epic, masterful account of the cursed and the swords that fell him. Bram Stoker delivers an exquisitely comprehensive journey from the Count’s castle to London to the majestic Carpathian Mountains and the mythical region of Transylvania. The story unfolds itself almost exclusively through journal and diary writings detailing the vampire’s stranglehold over beasts and weather and the dramatic chase to end his cursed reign over dear Madam Mina and all those he commands. An elaborate tale, deliciously articulated with climactic resolve. Brilliant! GP

Fabulous!. Excellent!

Fantastic Tale. No wonder so much of our culture has built up around this story.

Dracula by Bram Stoker. This is a fabulous book, although long. But, once finished, you realize it could not have been shorter so keep with it. Stoker uses plot to bring what at first seem to be disparate character threads together and makes great use of tension right up to the last. I couldn’t put the book down. What a genius to write such a book that withstands the test of time. A true classic.

Perfect. This digital copy is perfect, it had the whole story and no missing parts. Sure it is plain but it was exactly what I was looking for when I wanted to read the original Dracula story.

Dracula. Remove book

Stoker’s Dracula novel is amazing!. Finally read this novel again after many years had passed. I first read through it as a teenager but not sure if I understood what was happening throughout the book. I only wish someone would make a movie or series actually about Stoker’s Dracula and not some director’s interpretation or vision of this amazing horror story. When you read it please take time to absorb what’s happening in real time as each individual shares their accounts of the various events that lead up to the unbelievable climax!

Classic Horror. To this day the original story of Dracula is still by far the scariest.

Read Immediately. A page turner of the highest quality. You will be drawn into 19th century England while reading the diaries and letters of the main characters. The author manages the many viewpoints without making the reader confused and never allows you to be bored. At the end you probably won’t sleep without garlic in your room. 😉

Can not danowload??. H

Dracula. Finally I’ve read the book. So easy to see why it captured the imagination of readers thru the years. A proper adaptation to film sadly has never been done. Maybe some day a young filmmaker will actually read the book before embarking on writing a script. Stoker’s masterpiece of modern myth making deserves a property adaptation.

Classic, worth a read. A literary classic. Just a joy to see where Dracula, the vampire, comes from. It’s quite different from many of the movie adaptations. For one, he’s not a sympathetic romantic figure. He’s cruel, cold, and heartless. The only thing that prevents this book from getting 5 stars is that Stoker wasn’t really good at writing accents. So when he’s writing (very minor) characters speaking with a cockney accent, it becomes a chore to get through. Outside of that, I would recommend this book.

HONESTLY I GET WHY ITS A CLASSIC. I read this book with my partner and it was so good! It reads as much like a detective novel as a horror story and both are amazingly engaging. I had just a blast with this book, would definitely recommend reading it with a friend :3

Jonmina my beloved. Jonathan and Mina are the only couple ever!!

Bananana. It's the most amazing thing I've ever seen.............…………………… it's a bananana next to a bananana

Fantastic!!. Definitely a classic! I will say, however, be informed that this book is written in the format of letters, diary entries, memorandums and such. I write this because I did not know this fact and I struggled with the format and, once, I decided to put the book down because of it. I made the mental shift and eventually the characters tell you why it’s written this way and I lends an entirely new light to the book that just catapults it to a new enjoyment level. Additionally, I love how the format of diary entries does not give us insight to the count since it is only through recollection of experiences, that we only experience the count a handful of times. GREAT GREAT BOOK.

Great Book. Easy to read and engaging. I really thought this would be a more difficult read just based on how old the book is, but it was a breeze! I highly recommend this book if you like the horror/action genre.

You have a lot. I’m not doing it right

Terrific story. As soon as you get used to the grammar and vocabulary of the English language used at the time of its writing, the story is unstoppable. It will keep you entrapped until the very end.

Dracula Is One Of My Favorites. Dracula is one of my favorites, and considering that it’s a horror kind of story, I’d figure it was an appropriate time to read it in the month of October, and I really enjoyed it, in spite of it being a bit scary. However, I wasn’t scared of reading it. If you’re a fan of horror stories, I would recommend reading Dracula.

Worth it. Different from the movie

Fun story!. I thought it was a fun story to read, you get connected to the characters and the writing style is awesome!

Good. I like this.

Fantastic Book. I really enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it. It has a slow start to it but after that it picks up in pace and is just wonderful.

Dracula. I am not a fan of horror stories, but I consider this literature. There is so much more to this book than most might expect, having mainly known this story through the Hollywood films inspired by the book. The story is told in a novel way for the era, through diary entries and letters, newspaper stories, etc, and this gives it a taste of ordinary, real life that gradually builds to the revelation of the monstrous. The reader realizes the horror of the situation at the same pace as the characters within the story come to realize it, pulling the reader into the terror and complexity of the situation.

Dracula. This is a book my father always read to everyone in the house and some parts scared me as 6 years old but I am 47 now and this book still gives me the creeps so I just want to let you know if you don’t know this book you should ask somebody about it and then read it because this book is a classic book and I love this book so pls read this book

A classic that haunts modern day. The best vampire book. Hands down. This classic is sure to please and you’ll refer to it over and over again.

Dracula. A classic written in an interesting manner.

The first one I. The first one I

Too Scary. Book bad. Too scary for me. Don’t let your kids read it.

Dracula. I loved the use of diary entries to keep us apprised of what was going on. I couldn’t put it down.

Why. Boring. I was thinking that I could do something more fun

One of the finest books of the Victorian Era. I enjoyed this book and even though the story has been repeated an ungodly amount of times. None of them hold a candle to the original.

Great Read. I originally read it in paperback and even though the format was a little hard to follow at times, I loved it. My only main issue was the fact that almost every woman was treated as a delicate flower.

I’ve seen the movie but the book was is definitely better. The ending in the movie different but was it better?????

Deacula. Wonderful narrative, full of details and excitement.

Suspenseful to the very end. A must read, several instances of adrenaline action and suspense. No movie can do what his book does.

Sorry for the. Sorry for your confusion

Surprisingly a much greater read than expected!. I downloaded it because it was free and I enjoyed it so much, read it all in 3 days! (Which is unusual for me as I get bored easily). Well written, suspenseful, good ending.

The real thing. It drags in places but has some totally creepy elements as well

Dracula. A biting novel that will keep you awake at night 🧛‍♂️

Dracula book review:. This is a gothic horror masterpiece which is dripping with atmosphere. Ever time you read you feel as if you’re there and it is one of my many favorite vampire stories

Good book.. I just finished reading a book I really didn't have a lot of interest in but it was a freebie on Apple iBooks. It pulled me in and I really enjoyed it. It wasn't too spooky but the writing format was a little odd until I got into it.

Great book. :)

A True Classic. So much of what modern horror and drama are based on comes from this classic. So often copied, but never as good as the original.

Dracula. Invigorating. Horribly outstanding. Bram Stoker’s masterpiece continues to burn through the passing of the years and still remains one of the most well written and classically acclaimed horror stories in history.

Spoilers!. Although it can sometimes be a little hard to understand the story it tells is amazing it is truly saddening at Renfields and Quincy’s death and Lucy’s death as a vampire didn’t seem sad but almost like an occasion the only thing that was off-putting was that Arthur and Seward get married after Lucy but at least they are happy

Terrible. Too many pages

Wonderful. Well I have finally read Dracula, and have found it to be a wonderful and engrossing story. I, like many, was put off by the hammer horror films which were based (loosely) upon the story of Count Dracula. But I decided to read it and found it to be a really compelling and classic book, which I would proudly have amongst my collection of Dickens and Chaucer on the bookshelf. I urge anybody with an interest in classical novels to read it, if they haven't already, and I urge anybody who just likes a very good story to also read it. Bram stoker is a literary genius.

Dracula. I think it is amazing its brilliant

Long, but worth it.. A story with more depth than I had imagined. Worth the effort.

Great read. Did not disappoint right up to the end

Good. It was really good

Gr8 m9. This book was gr9 m9. Tell that Bram Stoker lad he is sick at writing books, coz this was a real funny book. I enjoyed it. Thanx for the read Bram.

Challenging..but couldn't put it down!. Difficult to read in places but a thrilling story of horror and adventure. Well worth it!

Boring. I didn’t like it because it’s mostly long sentences! Some people like short snappy sentences

Preferred Frankenstein.. Avoid at all costs. Even Twilight is better than this.

Count Dracula.. Great book

its ok. its ok

Dracula. Omg, awesome, can't recommend this enough

Boring af. So bored reading this that I didn’t end up reading it

Good read. Anticlimax ending, glad I read it though

Dracula. A rather long pursuit of Dracula only to end quite abruptly. Enjoyed most of it but struggled to understand some of the language.

A page turner!!. Could not put down absolutely brilliant suspenseful and descriptive. Recommend highly!

Wonderful. This is my third book this month I really love reading, am taking every word in and feeling every moment. FANTASTIC ! And this as been a great read so different although prof Van Helsing is still Peter Cushing . Whoever had the idea to do books on your device, you are wonderful you too Apple thank you !

Fern. It’s a blood thirsty read about a vampire count Dracula but I think that I quite enjoyed that blood thirst read of a book.

Always a good read classic story. Good

Dracula. It was go good I wanted to read it again

Awesome. In absolutely awesome read. Easy to see everything that’s happening in the minds eye. Such bravery and heartache No wonder this remains a classic and a must read for anyone.

Must-read!. Amazing book, full of suspense and well written...I have been completely captured from Dracula...Bram Stoker wrote a masterpiece!!

Awful. I had to read this book for my English homework and I was very disappointed.

Really bad book. Worst book I’ve ever read! It’s so innapropriate!

Transylvanian. This book is simply stunning, full of adventure and well written!!!! A must read to all adventure lovers

Wow. I love classic old books and this is now one of my favourites and I’m only halfway through! Highly recommend.

Dracula. Excellent read from start to finish

Dracula - don't miss a word. Terrific read, tough and a little laboured in parts, but an essential classic. Hugely well-written, so glad I have read it.

Great Book. Have always wanted to read this and wasn’t disappointed. Couldn’t put it down at times. Really enjoyed the story and loved the characters.

Must read horror/thriller. One word do describe it magnificent

Classic horror has stood the test of time - it creeps up on you. The format - extracts from the journals of those involved - deepens the sense of authenticity that this novel carries in it's deliberate and skilful unfolding of the story, and patient development of credibility in sense that makes this - even now in 2015 - a very creepy book, and not to be read before bedtime ! Van Helsing sticks to his accent and halting English and becomes more real with every page. Thoroughly worth the effort of reading- a real achievement in horror and true classic.

Dracula. To many pages

The original horror. Brilliant book and good to read as a first classic, the language is simple in diary format which makes this book engaging and easy to read. So much more to the story than I originally thought.

Slow burn.. The writing structure (being narrated in a series of diary entries, memoirs and newspaper clippings) was at first hard to adjust too, however it is definitely worth it. After starting strongly there is what seems like a lull about 80 pages into the book which makes it appear dull. However it, in retrospect, turns out to be a master stroke. There’s a reason this novel is a classic. Dark, insidious and claustrophobic, 10/10.

So good!. One of the best classic books I have ever read! Definitely recommend it. It’s quite lengthy but it’s definitely worth the time and money!

TRULY REMARKABLE. An amazing novel which is cunningly unpredictable

Good book!!!. Amazing!!!

Mr.. Lovely read.....much bettter than the movie!

Classic Dracula. Although we all know the story this original book kept me turning the pages. The only thing I found tedious was when Van Helsing spoke or wrote his diary entries mainly due to the weird sentence construction (bit like Yoda).Got used to it though. There is also a fascinating glimpse into the world of travel & communications from the era, all topped of with a growing sense of doom. Brilliant

What a Brilliant Read. Dracula was a character who's origin I knew nothing about. I saw this book I thought it would be worth a read. I fell into this book and loved every page. Great characters. Great story. Great book.

The Horror Classic that defined Vampire Fiction. One of the most famous novels ever written and definitely one of the best, Dracula cleverly hides his vampire identity during the novel and knows when to strike fear into our hearts.

Dracula. An all time classic that we all know the story of, or we think we do. To read the original with its Victorian language and imagine the impact it would have made at the time makes this tale all the more remarkable. It's still full of tension and interesting characters to this day, it's easy to see why it has endured so long.

A tight book. A surprisingly readable book, despite being written more than a century ago.

Dracula. Not read all of it yet!

Fantastic. Bram Stoker's Dracula is a very enjoyable read. It is written in the form of various diaries, in the perspective of the main characters. Although Dracula is a story that I was somewhat familiar with (from popular culture), the book was still interesting and filled with suspense. Would highly recommend.

Terrific book. Definitely read this great book if you are a horror/fiction fan.

Brilliant. A top notch, well written novel by a fantastic 19th century author. Great stuff.

Amazing!!!!. Absolutely fab book

Excellent. Can't believe I've waited this long to read the book! Far surpassed any expectation I ever had. And, naturally, is superior to any of the film versions out there. Would highly recommend.

Captivating!. Although slow in parts, this classic was extremely well written, I was quite sad to finish it!

Great book!. Great book!

Thx. This book was stupid

Inspired yet indifferent. Although I loved the literature of the book I felt as if it lacked reason. I first watched Coppola’s interpretation of ‘Dracula’ which gave more body behind the story. I really did enjoy this book and am glad to have read it - but I can’t say I wasn’t disappointed to find that the original concept of ‘Dracula’ disregarded the origin of Dracula himself and vampires. I regret to say I preferred the movie, but still found immense satisfaction in reading the book.

Often copied but never bettered!. This is now my fourth read of Dracula and it never disappoints. As with other classics it is often retold, reworked and reimagined but the original story is a gem that shines through all the dust of the years. I am always gripped by the details and drawn to different aspects of the characters. My view of these characters has changed with ageing which brings a freshness with each reading. It is hard to put this book down once begun. It is a fascinating glimpse into the late Victorian age with all its sensibilities and customs. A true classic and an engrossing read. Often copied but never bettered.

Dracula. This is the most amazing book I have ever read in my inter life so far I hope there will be more of your books thank you for making this book

It was terrible. I did not read it

Dracula. A wonderful insight into how a mind may work.

Dracula. A great read thank you. I love stories and books about the count. Thank you . Keep up the good work.

Dracula. Great story.... Timeless and entertaining MT

Love love love. Amazing I love love love love it

Dracula. Again, so different to the movie. A fantastic read

Dracula. Dracula by Brampton Stoker is a uniquely written manuscript that enriches the mind of gothic, horror, mystery and medieval lovers. Having being sent on a business holiday, Jonathan experiences superstition on his encounter with an eerie fellow named Dracula. Not realizing this horror, his fiancé seems to be developing some connection to the person. It isn't before long that that several individuals in England find out about the superstitious figure of Dracula and attempt to rid of him altogether with God on their side. It is a battle between light and darkness. For those who want to read this, you'll enjoy it, but you may at a a point grow a bit uneasy due to the lack of action throughout.

dracula. Classic Victorian melodrama/horror. Bram Stoker has created one of the horror genre's most enduring figures. Forget Interview with a Vampire, forget Twilight, Stoker did it first and did it best! When they invented the term, ripping yarn, this book was the template. Read it before? Me too, years ago. I'd forgotten how good it really is. Try it again, what have you got to lose except a good night's sleep? Spooky!

An excellent read. Easy to read, captivating, easy to read in between activities as there are lots of little sections in each chapter. Highly recommended.

Awesome. I love this book! It was awesome and amazing

Alucard. Where is Integra, where is Seras and where is Schrödinger?

Great book. The best gothic novel ever written

Isaidwarrick. A good book although a bit slow at times.

Good classic. Style of writing is similar to Frankenstein. The book is written in the formats of journal entries and telegram rather than a narration. Overall, would recommend if you are interested in sci-fi and thriller books.

Yeah. Yeah nah it's good. 7/11 would Dracula again.

Beautifully written. This book was such a captivating and interesting book to read. It was hard to stop in between chapters because you just want to keep reading! The language is so rich, emotional and descriptive which is what I love most about it.

Dracular. This book was really good but I recommend it to people over 10 or 9 I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did !!!!!!!!!! :-)

Awesome. Gave me goosebumps, amazing classic!

Dracula. Recommended reading for anyone who wishes to discover the original source of the current vampire craze. As with most "period" writing, it is a real eye-opener to see how social mores change over a hundred years or so . . .

Fantastic. Took me a while to read but was such a great read I kept coming back wanting to know more!

Dracula. At first it took my full attention. Midway, the course of the story seemed endless. But when continued, the storyline exceeded my expectations by far. A great read!

GREAT!!!. What a story! I could actually picture the scenes being described, and they scared the crap out of me...a true testament of good story telling! An absolute must read for anyone who loves vampire stories. Summing it up in one word...classic!!!

Amazing!!!. Dracula is one of the best books I have ever read! And I've read a lot of books! Anyone who is interested in vampire books should definitely read this as it is the original true vampire story! However, this book is not just for vampire lovers, it really is for anyone who enjoys a great work of fiction; with in depth characters, and never a dull moment, this is a book that you won't want to put down!! One other aspect of this book that I loved was that, although it is a classic and was written such a long time ago, the language is still very easy to read and understand!! It's a classic and it's free, give it a try and I bet you'll enjoy it as much as I did!!

THE BEST. maby the one of the best novels in history and definitly the best vampire story in history

2.5. There easily could’ve been two hundred pages taken out of the middle.

Surprisingly good. After watching all modern vampire movies with their special effects, I was not expecting much from a dusty old vampire book. It was really a pleasant surprise to read this book. It is simply a great story masterfully written by a skilled author. Instead of a narrator, we discover the story through the journals and the letters of the characters, which gives a very interesting perspective.

A classic. A classic novel and the only way vampires should be known.

Absorbing. Although slow in parts, the imagery and the weaving of the story are breathtaking. It's the type of story that can transport you to another place and have you marvel at how noble people can be. A great tale of humanity and a genuine classic

Dracula. A very good read. I can believe that when it was written it would have brought all the fears of the unliving to the readers of Victoian times. Now to watch the movie!!!

Great Read!. I loved the journal style of the journey from start to finish. Felt like I was in the mind of the various characters. Great writer !

The book is awesome. This book is just awesome...the writer is a jineus.....gonna read this book 100 times.....

Dracula. Cool. Book . Worth re reading

A great story!. Enjoyed this book thoroughly!

Excellent. Third time thru and so pleased it was the original version!

Dracula. Excellent book. Could not put it down. Highly recommended.

Lame. This was the lamest story ever written

Dracula. A fabulous classic! I could not put it down. So much more detail to the powers of a vampire as well as the limitations. The writing flows. Bram Stoker was a master.

What the …. Bad copy. Editing near end of book is horrendous english. Worse than I remember. Was Van Helsing this bad at writing English when he journaled? Anyway, other copies are easier to get through and still convey the idea more eloquently.

Awesome book. There was alot of tension and questions?? It was just awesome

Skinjacker Trilogy. Check out the book series of Neal shusterman called the skinjacker Trilogy the books are (book one) EVERLOST (book two) EVERWILD (book three) EVERFOUND these books are amazing

Awesome. One of the best books I have ever read. Love the diary approach.
