At the top of the stairs there are four secrets hidden. Blond, beautiful, innocent, and struggling to stay alive…

They were a perfect family, golden and carefree—until a heartbreaking tragedy shattered their happiness. Now, for the sake of an inheritance that will ensure their future, the children must be hidden away out of sight, as if they never existed. Kept on the top floor of their grandmother’s vast mansion, their loving mother assures them it will be just for a little while. But as brutal days swell into agonizing months and years, Cathy, Chris, and twins Cory and Carrie realize their survival is at the mercy of their cruel and superstitious grandmother…and this cramped and helpless world may be the only one they ever know.

Book One of the Dollanganger series, followed by Petals in the Wind, If There be Thorns, Seeds of Yesterday, and Garden of Shadows.

Tragic to inspire. The story inspires life even in the dustiest secluded prisons. Absolutely brilliant novel.

Beautiful book. This book was amazing. I loved it. I am absolutely going on to read the next books. It was so touching, it made you connect with each and every character. I even cried once. Flowers in the attic was a fantastic book of love, growing, and learning that the would can be cruel. It had typos, but it didnt change the affect it gave me. 5 STARS. 💚

I really truly Love reading&watching them all. The V.C. Andrews series books are so very interesting and so intense once you start reading each and every book of hers in each series set you get so into the different stories that each book is trying to tell you that just reading them makes you get that one feeling that you don’t want to stop reading the books and you don’t want to put them down like you want to keep reading until you have completely read all and every single last book of every series same thing with the movies that goes along with her books based off of the movies too. I love reading the books my most favorite character so far is young girl name Heaven Stonewall.

Must Read!. This was a very good book! I bought it because of a quote on Pinterest, and wow! am I glad I did. It is thought-provoking, heart-wrenching, and an all around good read. I highly recommend it!

Flowers in the Attic. Beautiful book. The theme was so strongly supported throughout the novel, the impact of it was admirable.... Lovely and heart-breaking. Brings tears to one's eyes... I completely loved the book, one, if not my top, favorite!

Amazing. I've read this and the rest of the books in this series. They are all page turners. I found myself on a roller coaster of emotions following the twists and turns. The characters and wonderfully developed and have you visualizing the book the entire time. Ntruly a must read.

Absolutely gorgeous.. A must!

FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC. Flowers in the attic is an AWESOME book! I really loved this book, but it ended with a cliff hanger...

Beautiful. So disturbed yet this book is so beautiful the way this story unfolds is amazing. I love vc Andrews and her work!!!!

Love it. Seen the movie, love the book

Movie sucked but book was great. I've read this book a few times and I love it. I love the messed up family values...

SINNFUL DO NOT READ IF YOU BELIVE IN A AFTERLIFE. THIS BOOK IS ENTERTAINING BUT IS VERY, EVVVIL!!!!! DO NOT TOUCH THIS IT HAS HERPES AND IS STUP I LOVE JESUS CHROTOVLOSFB NIGHT HAHA

Terrible movie but an AMAZING BOOK. I couldn't put down ,definitely the best book I've ever read can't wait to get the rest of the series !!

Amazing. This book is amazing!! I recommend it to any one!! It is creepy and puts you on the edge of your seat!! It's a MUST READ!!

Flowers in the attic. I read this book back in the 80s and remembered I liked it but didn't remember the details so I thought I'd give it a reread. Well it didn't disappoint. Loved it the second time too.

Good book, terrible movie. The producers of the movie did a terrible disservice to the book, bad screenplay, bad acting, it was the worst. But book was good.

Great. This is a very good book must read all of the books to this series

Nightmare in the attic.... I read this book because I saw the 1987 movie, and I liked it. Still do. As good as the movie was, however, the book was not only quite different, but better. Actually, the movie was very faithful, but the filmmakers were forced to edit certain scenes and possibly change a few details before the movie was released to theaters(if, in fact, it was) after test audiences were disturbed by a certain plot element from the book that had been included in the original cut of the movie. Anyway, I really enjoyed the book! I love horror novels, and I had heard about how popular this book was when it was published in the early 80s, partly because of the controversial subject matter. A strong recommendation to fans of the movie: If you like it, you’ll love the book! The premise is the same: After the accidental death of a woman’s husband leaves her broke, she takes her four children and desperately returns to her super-rich parents who, long ago, disowned her. The children’s grandmother, locks them in a secret room which leads to the attic, and also sometimes abuses and mistreats them, all because of sins committed by their mother before they were born. Because of their mother’s supposed sins, the grandmother considers them evil. What did their mother do that their grandparents thought were so horrible? She told them she came back to her parents to win back their love so she could inherit their fortune after her sick, bedridden father died, but why are her visits becoming fewer and fewer? Could she, like her children, have become a prisoner? Could greed have turned her against them? What is their mother’s secret? Will they ever escape? While that controversial subplot that made this book so popular(among teenagers) is intriguing to read about, the real focal point that made this book so intriguing and frightening to me was that it was about the grandmother’s cruelty and mistreatments of her grandchildren, and her motives. Even though this book didn’t turn me into a V.C. Andrews fan, it’s a book I really enjoyed reading because I found it to be a terrifying tale of the strange, nightmarish family dynamics of an estranged family. If you want to read a horror-suspense story about a family’s unusual beliefs, and the unfortunate consequences of any family members who turn against those beliefs, even for their innocent children, read this book! It just might be eye-opening and horrifying! A great read! If you like this book, check out the sequels! Unlike one of the other reviewers, I don’t know of any other sequels besides these: Petals on the Wind, If There Be Thorns, Seeds of Yesterday, and a prequel to the series entitled: Garden of Shadows. In recent years, the movie was remade for, and probably BY Lifetime Television. Subsequently, thanks to considerable success, most of the sequels were also adapted, all for Lifetime. Want some good advice? AVOID these movies! Yes, they are good movies; the first was a more faithful adaptation of the book. The bad news: They don’t hold a candle to the 80s classic! Anyhoo, read this book if you’re looking for a quite a different kind of horror novel or thriller!

Flowers in the attic. This book is a great book I recommend reading it.

Goodish. It had a nice plot and message, but it was really gross for me. I mean her brother kissed her! Barf in my mouth. Like I said it was good-ish.

Thumbs up!. Omg is all I can say! This has been my favorite book since I was 14! I've never found a book that can compare, vc Andrews is by far my favorite author! I've never read a book by her I didn't like :) thumbs up Virginia

Love this writer!. This series has a lot of backstabbing and weirdness in it but I have to say I LOVE IT!! One of the greatest writers of all time!

Solid storyline but disappointing ending. I was extremely intrigued when I read the storyline and other readers reviews. The beginning of the book was interesting and the middle was filled with a lot of unnecessary details that seem to be dragged out just to add more pages to the book. Towards the end you started to think that there would be some more excitement other than the kids being locked in the attic the entire book. I was really expecting a lot more from this book especially because the storyline was so interesting. I was hoping for some revenge on the mother and the grandmother but after the kids escaped the story ended. I would have to say it was disappointing to spend all that time reading something that ends so abruptly. I don’t think it was worth the $11.99 that I paid to read it.

SAMUEL FERLDANA ANDERW MAFFIE. FRIDAY FEBRUARY 14 (2020)

Thought provoking. Very good book. Gave me lots to think about. Is there really just good and evil or is there a blur of the two. How do we justify the things we do each day. What are our priorities like. This book kept me reading and hoping for a good outcome. I would not recommend this book for anyone younger than 15 as there are some very adult themes and some incestuous scenes throughout the book.

Great read. Def one of my fave books!

Flowers In The Attic. I really enjoyed the book. I've always admired V.C Andrews and her compelling tales of the unknown, and I always will, but this specific tell took me into something, somewhere, that I never been before. It's definitely a book to read to gain true compassion for others and realize what others may have gone through. And also a lesson of forgiving but never forgetting because forgetting will only help for making a mistake in the future relative to the suffering you've accompanied in the past.

Loved it. Love this book!!

The flowers in the attic. This was such a good book. I saw the movie first, but I think the book is better. This book will leave you in tears and angry at the characters. There are moments in this book that you won't expect. You have to read this book, it will leave you shocked.

Flowers in the Attic. I absolutely love this book and series. In total there are 8 books in the series Flowers in the Attic, Petals on the Wind, If there be Thorns, Seeds of Yesterday, are all about The 4 Children mainly Cathy, Christopher, and Carrie. Garden of Shadows covers the Grandmother and reveals deep family secrets. There are two books covering a diary written by Christopher during his time in the Attic Christopher’s Diary Echoes of a Dollenganger and Secrets of Foxworth. The eighth book is called Secret Brother and is about wait for it......... Cory after he supposedly died.

Heartbreaking. This book was difficult to read for me personally, but once I began I found it hard to put down. Some parts warmed my heart at the determination and hope represented in the pages before me, while other parts left my eyes red and glossy with tears for the young characters who were forced to endure such cruelty. Overall, this was an excellent, riveting read.

Flowers in the attic. Always loved this book and great movie!

Great. It was difficult to put the book down. It was a great story. I felt as if I was with the characters. Don't let your beliefs cloud your judgment on this book, because it will be hard to enjoy it (like most things in life).

Extrodinary. I loved this book. Very suprised because for this book was written in the 50's, it was quite easy to read. And i'm 11. I watched the lifetime's version of this movie, and it was truly amazing. But after reading this book, It included so much. I finished a 1000 page book in almost a day. That says something for someone like me who has only read 2 books in my 6th grade school year. This is the only book read by V.C andrews, but i'm looking forward to reading more of his books:)

!!!!. This book had me on the edge of my seat, it had me smiling, crying, gasping, held my interest till the last page! Great book!

An amazing read loved it. The story showed great strength these kids were soldiers

Ok.... This book had a lot of hype. Didn't love it. Kept waiting for something to happen.

Flowers in the attic. Great book. Keeps you guessing what is going to happen each day on these children's lives. Very sad, made me cry. It's definitely a must read. Ready for the second one.

Wow. When I was a kid I remember all my sisters reading this book So when I found it I had to read it myself And it just blew me out of the water Simply amazing

Fantastic!. I completely tore this book apart! I cried twelve times in all. Long live the Dollangangers!

Flowers in the attic. It 'twas weak

Flowers in The Attic. Flowers in The Attic are one of those book that will keep you up at night so you can think about it. It was dark, bittersweet and full of emotions and is it not what life is all about? Told in an artistic way, Flowers in The Attic surely is a classic meant to keep in your bookshelf.

Amazing!. What an emotional book, was such a tear jerker but a fab read and very well written! Just started the 2nd follow up 'petals in the wind' and didn't think I would say this but it's even better! A must read!

Great story. A great story that really gets you into the characters. You feel desperately for the children. You want to shout out not to be so trusting but understand why they do. It's a story of greed, trust, love, survival and hope. I really recommend this book.

Great Book- I Recommend. Well written, a real tear jerker the first time I read the book. I recommend buying all the books in this series.

beautiful. I read this in the early 90's and has always been one of my favourite books, and very dear to me. The story it is self, takes you on a journey through the eyes of children, who mature so rapidly, due to their circumstances. It's a great read as well as the follow ups.

Masterpiece.. Great read, well wrote.

Flowers in the attic. The best book I've ever read, looking forward to reading the next.......

Flowers in the Attic. I'm emotionally exhausted - what a book! For once a good story beautifully written. So sad! But you just have to keep turning the pages...I have already downloaded the next in the collection and can't wait to start reading - although I am scared to embark on another emotional journey and scared of the book taking over my life as this one did!

Flowers in the Attic. Imaginative, descriptive, but complacent lacklustre story line with little insight into human nature.

Awesome. This was one of the few books I thoroughly enjoyed reading when I was younger. It is so sick and twisted but so beautiful at the same time. I love how much love and dedication Cathy has to her siblings and I can completely relate to every aspect of her character. This will always be a favorite for me.

Not as good as I remembered. Some things from your teenage years should not be revisited, and this book is one of them. I remember devouring this book (and all the others in the series) when 12/13 years old, and after re reading it some 20 years later I was really disappointed at how bad I found this book to be! Lucky it was free...

Floors In The Attic. Fantastic book, couldn't put it down. Andrews painted this book so realistically, you felt all the pain & happiness these poor children felt. Great novel can't wait to read the sequel.

I love this story!. I read this when I was young, & I have loved it ever since!

One of my favourites. I was given this book by a stranger on a bus when i was 16. As soon as I read the first few pages, I didn't resurface until the end. I've just finished rereading it, now as a mother and my God did I cry. The story is so beautifully written and the characters are so easy to understand despite the trials and growth. This book will take you on a journey!!!

Flower in the attic. Boing. Long for no reason. Not even worth 1$

Good. This book makes me sad but smiling at the same time :)

Very interesting. Can't say I really like what's going on in the book, but WAY too interesting to put down!

Great read!!. Read this book years ago and just read it again. Love VC Andrews. She makes you feel like you are there struggling with them. At times I just wanted to scream at their mother as well.
