A good read if you like urban novels !!. The books storyline is interesting and at times relatable if you come from a family with relatives involved in some illegal businesses lol. I would definitely recommend if you want to be shocked and hanging on to your seat as you see Winter Santiaga navigates her life. I also recommend the sequel !!

One of the best books I’ve read. I purchased the book years ago and have read it probably 1000 + times. Each time I read it I focus on a different character and each time I learn something that missed before. Sister Souljah is a genius with word and in storytelling. This is a must read and no mater when you read it, you can relate it to your life right here and now. I need this to be a movie/television series. I would love to see who plays each character.

Winter made me mad 🥴. So I was introduced to this author by a friend and honestly buying her books is one of the best investments I made inna minute. Anyways Winter had me red 🥴 like shorty 🤦🏾‍♀️. I thought you would a learned from you daddy went down. But you just kept thinking you couldn't be out smarted 🤔. Lol I was happy when she got locked up am just saying she had it coming 😬

My favorite book EVER.. I am 27 years old and first read this book when I was 13 and it has been my favorite book ever since. I’ve read it so many times. There are so many lessons and gems in this book, which is why I often return to it. A lot of people have stated they didn’t like the ending but to me the ending was perfect because it was REAL. This is what happens when you live the kind of lifestyle Winter was living and I think that’s the whole point S.S. was trying to make. If you haven’t read this book do yourself a favor and dive in.

Winter went from hot to not. It was definitely not what I was expecting. This was a great read. I enjoyed the main character Winter and the ended was unique but left an opening for a sequel!!

Good Read!. I love the style and voice of the narrator which is Winter! I was able to visualize every detail of the book. Some things were actually relatable while very enlighten in regards to drug dealers, familiar neighborhoods, & relationships, etc. It kept me wanting to read more & get into the other books which gives the perspectives of the other significant characters mentioned in this book. Definitely a page turner & truly a good read if you like suspense & hood-like stories.

Emotionally draining. If I had the ability to transform into a book I would pick this book... I wanted so much for so one to take Winter and sit her down and show her that she has so much more to give to her life ..and the road she was taking would only lead to death or jail ..just so happen the latter was the option ..but I think if she had someone who who have never given up on her she could have been saved from the latter ..my heart broke for ever dumb and young mistake she continued to make. Emotionally exhausting!!

Brave and chilling.. This book took me through a year of intense survival and vanity. What I loved about it was the personal narrative and the street literature style. Incredible slow burn and intense pressure.

Gripping. I read midnight prior to this book and thoroughly enjoyed both novels, as reading this one answered many of my questions from previously, yet also left me with many unanswered questions as well. Overall, this is a truly gripping novel and is packed with unexpected twists and turns, highly suggested and I cannot wait for the next one.
