The War of the Worlds. I highly recommend reading this book, I loved it. I was a little worried the writing might be dated but not at The setting is London in Victorian times. The story is about invasion, the twist is that the invaders are Martian. Anyone interested in reading the original inspiration for the War of the Worlds films and TV series will not be disappointed. When you read the story you will recognise scenes in the films, and more. Don't worry about the setting being in Victorian times, Alien technology has no time period. Enjoy

The War of the Worlds. Cracking story. Herbert George Wells was English and he wrote this story in Woking from a modest terraced house near a railway line. The book was first published in the UK in 1898. Would the publishers of this version be good enough to correct the statement that it is an American novel? Many thanks

Wonderful, terrifying. This is my favourite book of all time, an awesome read. The story has haunted me since I was a child and even after reading this time and time again, it never fails to draw you into the bleak reality of the callamity facing mankind. Cannot rate this highly enough.
