Interesting, but .... An interesting story and likable characters, but it was a bit tedious to read. The lack of editing, misused words, etc., bothered me. As much as I would like to know what happens next to the characters, I probably won't be reading the sequel. (And, yes, you do find out the name of the female love interest.)

Good read. That's a good read in general. Unfortunately, I was very annoyed by the numerous typos and grammar mistakes, e.g. "then" instead of "than," missing verbs and prepositions, lack of punctuations to separate the different clauses, and subordinate clauses with no main clause. Also, that was too bad we did not get to know PC Witlock's first name after all. Did she get promoted? Is there romance between her and the main character?

Great!. And I never thought I would enjoy this type of plot. Cops annoy me, in books anyway, due to most of them being egomaniacal....love Joseph though, and how he 2nd guesses himself, but charges forward, going with his gut....will be forwarding your works to friends and insisting they download! Thanks for an excellent read, Laura in Florida Btw, ignore those reviewers who are so pompous in their English, that they forget who came up with it in the first place....Go Europe, you rock! It really irks me when people can't get far enough out of their own way, and just enjoy the FREE story for what it is. Get over yourselves already.

The Value of Life. I liked the book it kept you thinking all the ahead to the end. Would I read another book from this author, yes.

K. Good book

The value of life. Great read!

One of the best books I've read in a while. It is a compelling story that was told perfectly. The characters are perfect. I enjoyed this more than Sherlock Holmes.

Enjoyed the plot. This was a very good story that had me wanting to know more. I was a bit disappointed with the ending because I felt it was rather abrupt and lacking some details. The cussing was appropriate at times, but I did feel that it was over used. It doesn't take away from the story. The story did bring up a concept that we all should give more thought to.

Excellent Book. I'm almost done reading this book and so far it's one of the best I've ever read

Great Read !!!!!!!!!. Really enjoyed this book. The suspense just keeps building. I would truly recommend to any one who loves a mystery along with a strong psychological impact. Thank you Andy Crowsen and Smashword for such a great free book.

Excellent!!!. This book definitely does not disappoint. It kept me entertained from the beginning of the book until the end. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

Keeps you reading and thinking. I have read a lot of mystery novels and although this may not have been the best example of literary mastery it is a great story that kept me fully engaged until the end. Much better than most free books. Yes there are some typos and no the author did not pay quite as much attention to every detail as he did to what each character was eating and drinking at every moment, but the story overall is well worth a read. I plan to pay for his next title as I have high hopes it will be equally as gripping and even more skillfully crafted.

Kinda boring. There was no real climax in the story and a lot of - I woke, I did this and that and fell asleep from being so tired and then the same thing happened the next day.

The Value of Life. The Detective makes a believable protagonist, with instincts for the job and a compassion for the victims. I enjoyed the fast pace of the novel and how the purpose of the kidnapper unfolded. Clever story with a satisfying ending. I'd like to read of more cases with the same cast of characters.

Good. Very very good book, few typos here and there.. But the book is so good. You don't even care.

Entertaining Read. This was a free download and I was surprisingly entertained the entire time. It's a fast read and the characters are adaquately developed without being annoying. The plot was constantly interesting, too. I definitely recommend it.

Great. Enjoyed the read and how it played out.

Pretty Good. It was kind of hard to read because of so many spelling errors and typos, but it was still a pretty good book.

Needs professional editing. There was some good raw material here, but there were so many typographic errors, omissions, and misspellings in the text that I found this book hard to read. The premise of the plot was interesting, but the resolution was abrupt and far-fetched. If the author had worked with a publisher, the end result probably have been a much better book. Good try, better luck next time.

Value of Life. Couldn't put it down! Excellent!

The value of life. A very good story. There were a few typos and spelling errors but I enjoyed this book greatly. I stayed up until 1:30 a.m. because I couldn't go to sleep until I finished it. Do yourself a favor and read this book. You will be surprised by the ending!

Awesome Read. Great book, make you see things from a different perspective

Love It. Omg i love this book so much. It was worth the read!:3

Great story. Needs more editing!

Makes you think about what your life is worth to someone!. I absolutely loved your book. I am a very avid reader have been since I was a little girl. I have never read a book like your with such an amazing story line. I could not stop reading. You have a unique mind and look forward to reading more of your books. Thank you for sharing this story. Our justice system needs repairs and I think every judge, lawyer, and police officer should read this book and wonder how many people have been wronged by our system and know this does and could happen. This book made me want to do something to make sure this storyline is not played out in real life. You just don't know what you can do. Thanks again.

Kept me intrigued from start to finish. A well written and interesting book, with a twist at the end that I didn't see coming. Excellent!

Nice job!. Nice book, really easy to read and keeps you curious till the end!

An easy read. This was a good story line but it did not really get going, and the writing was fairly unchallenging. Spoilt a little by the numerous typos throughout - obviously was not proof read!

Book. Brilliant read from beginning to end on my I phone

The Value Of Life - Andy Crowson. Loved this book. Started reading and could not stop.

Reader. Decent read a few spelling mistakes but over all a nice detective book

Time to kill. Very well written, had me trying to race to the end as I wanted to find out what it was all about. It was a good story too, very true to life.

Unexpected twist. I enjoyed the read. Picked up a few grammatical errors, but hey, the story built and rise to a twist. Good holiday read.

The value of life. Really good read

Brilliant. The first book I've downloaded from App Store, really gripping, finished it in 3 sessions and I don't usually have time to read. Definitely recommend this book.

Great read. I really enjoyed this well done Andy, nice to have a UK setting for a change! Could hardly put it down, made me late for a meeting! Looking forward to the next one which I've downloaded

Awful. My spare time is precious I cannot waste it reading such a poorly written book. I do not care how good the plot is!

Two thumbs up. A great thriller, got me thinking and I was hooked from start to finish. Few issues with the grammatical errors and typos but other than that highly recommended.

The value of life. Very much enjoyed this read, interesting characters, would have liked it to have lasted a lot longer. Looking forward to reading more by Andy Crowson.

The value of life. Really good read throughout

Great book. Had me gripped right from the beginning right till the end.

The Value of Life's. This was a fantastic read. Couldn't stop reading till I found out what happened? Gripping to the end?

The value of life. Good storyline but the horrible grammar and typos are so annoying! I've never seen this many before.

The value of life. it got me interested from the start and as the plot unfolded,I was so tempted to Flick to the end but I'm so glad i didn't, totally brilliant book. Just ordered the second.

The Value of Life. Really good storyline and interesting throughout. First time reading this authors work and I'm not off to read another of his titles.

5star. Excellent read and an excellent ending. I would easily recommend it.

page turner!. makes you keep on reading the whole time, finished it in 3 days!

Needs a polish. Good story with strong characters, but writer needed to proof read and edit BEFORE releasing the finished article. Text is littered with missing or inappropriate words.

Enjoyed. This was a good book, kept me guessing, would read more from this author

The value of life. Very interesting concept, kept me turning the pages until I’d finished it. Read it in one sitting. The story was well developed and written, with believable characters. The plot was well conceived. I enjoyed it thank you.

Page turner. Really good book. Right amount of detail in the plot and characters. He didn't ramble on about specifics more than was needed and he keeps you thinking all the way.

Good. Read it. But it ain't Dalziel & Pascoe yet.. This is a classic page-turner. Some good characters and nice plot twists. You'll enjoy it. But. What happened to the editing? The punctuation is all over the place. So bad, in fact, that it got in the way of the story sometimes. Otherwise, I think we may have a new - and slightly different - police procedural series here.

The Value of Life. This is a very very good story, gripping all the way through, good characters, only fault is the grammar and spelling sure need attention, needs someone to proof read it through before print.well worth the read though.

Gripping!. Really loving this book! It had me gripped from the start, but as an avid reader it really annoys me that so many e-books aren't proof-read. There are so many mistakes in this one that I've been tempted more than once to stop reading, but the story has kept me going. Worth a read...just silence the English student within you and immerse yourself in the tension of the story!

The Value of Life. The storyline is great. A good crime book. I would have given you a higher rating, but you really need to pay more attention to your grammar and spelling. I have purchased the next book and hope that the above has improved.

Different!. I really enjoyed this book. It's different. It's well written and flows at a good pace. How much would you pay if your child was abducted, would you pay every penny you had or leave some in the bank!? As a parent it really made me feel quite uneasy and i couldnt put it down. I didn't have to skim pages to get past page filling nonsense. I liked the characters, if fact I liked everything about this book, I can't criticise which believe me is unusual as I usually find something to moan about. Would definitely choose books by this author again.

Ok but ... did nobody bother to spell check this before publishing? There are so many errors I had to keep re-Reading paragraphs to make sure what I was reading was correct!

Value of life. "Value of life" has an excellent plot that has kept me turning pages. The characters are quite credible, and the message is of the kind that appeals to our real sense of morality and core values. Editing is pretty shabby, it is not particularly well written, and has quite a number of grammatical mistakes - but somehow, it only serves to make it more endearing, and is a strangely compulsive read. It gives the impression that the writer is perhaps at the beginning if his writing career, and if this is the case, then I look forward to his next creations ever more.

Actually I disagree with other reviewers.. It always annoys me when a book is poorly proof read and there are lots in this book. Also, why so many American spellings? There are lots of farcical typos such as "raisin" instead of "raising", they make me wonder whether the author himself made such bloomers. Not an especially clever story, and well written - it's only saving grace is its short length.

Ms. A gripping storyline. Kept me page-turning until I'd finished it. Brilliantly written and well researched.

The Value of a Life. Very good story only marred by the many mistakes with spelling, grammar and punctuation which I presume come from making the book ready to be read on a kindle. Many times I had to stop and re-read a sentence to try to understand what it should have been. If it were not for that I would give this book five stars!

good read. good easy read for a freebie, keeps you guessing all the way through.

Great from start to finish. Unlike most thrillers I didn't work out the connection until the police did - some good twists & turns to keep you going and an ending that well ... Wouldn't wanna give too much away. Quite a short book but packed full of story with no "filler" Definitely gonna read more by this author

The value of life. Fantastic. Can't wait to read more of this guys books.

Sloppy author, decent story. An OK story, but I found some of the sloppy typos and inconsistencies a bit annoying. And as to all the ridiculous references to the rank 'CDI' (I only noticed that the author got this correct as DCI once).

Great!. Good read, stuck to it from start to finish and couldn't wait until I could resume reading when I had to stop for any reason :)

The value of life. Well written, got my attention from the first page.Highly reccomended.

Book. This book was great can not put it down great

The value of life. Awful, don't bother, grammar bad, loads of typing errors, mostly he said this, they said that all the way through, skipped most of the book just to get to the end, painful.

Just bad. The only reason I finished this book is that it was short which helps my reading goal for the year. Simple as the plot was, badly thought out characters and terrible grammar made reading this more of a chore than a pleasure.

The value of life. Gripping storyline that kept me guessing all the way. The only spoiler was the spelling errors. Still I would recommend it.

Thoroughly enjoyed. this difficult to put down crime mystery. Would recommend!

The Value of life. Cracking story, well paced. Somewhat spoiled by a constant parade of spelling and punctuation errors.

The value of life. Great novel but a pity about the spelling of certain words. I have a thing about spelling, punctuation and grammar and unfortunately the spelling and grammar were not exactly perfect in this novel.

The Value of Life. What a brilliant and gripping thriller. You won’t want to put it down. Excellent read with very believable and human characters

The Value of Life. Enjoyable

Recommended. Really enjoyed the storyline. Will be looking forward to reading the authors other books.

The Value of Life. Well crafted story without the graphic gore many authors insist on. Great suspense and a totally admirable hero with an intelligent partner. Looking forward to more from this author. Thanks for a wonderful read

The Value of Life. This novel had me intrigued. Plot was pretty good though not as well constructed as it could have been. All the same, not too bad a read.
