The Hard Way by Lee Child Book Summary
BONUS: This edition contains an excerpt from Lee Child’s The Affair.
In Lee Child’s astonishing new thriller, ex–military cop Reacher sees more than most people would...and because of that, he’s thrust into an explosive situation that’s about to blow up in his face. For the only way to find the truth—and save two innocent lives—is to do it the way Jack Reacher does it best: the hard way….
Jack Reacher was alone, the way he liked it, soaking up the hot, electric New York City night, watching a man cross the street to a parked Mercedes and drive it away. The car contained one million dollars in ransom money. And Edward Lane, the man who paid it, will pay even more to get his family back. Lane runs a highly illegal soldiers-for-hire operation. He will use any amount of money and any tool to find his beautiful wife and child. And then he’ll turn Jack Reacher loose with a vengeance—because Reacher is the best man hunter in the world.
On the trail of a vicious kidnapper, Reacher is learning the chilling secrets of his employer’s past…and of a horrific drama in the heart of a nasty little war. He’s beginning to realize that Edward Lane is hiding something. Something dirty. Something big. But Reacher also knows this: he’s already in way too deep to stop now.

Supprising. Usually I stick to Brad Thor for excitement to keep my heat thumping. Lee Child is a writer whose intricate details add to the suspense of the storyline. His protagonist is alluring in the manner of how low key he is portrayed, but in the book he is powerful authentic warrior. I am going to read all his books they have a fast pace that hold my attention. Good Show!
Hard way. This was one of the best suspense/thriller I have ever read. I 'd give it 10 stars since 5 stars are for other thrillers! It is also the best of Jack Reacher so far. The way lee Child writes you'd feel you are there and your heart races as page after page there is a new twist, unpredictable but so fluent I'd be awed at how Child could come up with so many plausible turns and exciting twists. I was late for work two days because I had to read at least two more chapters. Incomparable!
Die Trying. This book has the most innovative plot of all Reacher books. I have read it three times and back for the 4th. Characters you love to love and love to hate. Hair raising til the smashing end game. My 2 favorites are this and Gone Tomorrow!
ActionPacked. The action never stops. Jack Reacher is a great character.
The Hard Way. Excellent, as always, with Lee Child and Jack Reacher: you mess with the bull, you’re gonna get the horns.
Good read. Tight plot
The perfect thriller. I read The Killing Floor and Die Trying. Loved the first, liked the second. The Hard Way is my favorite Reacher to date. Great twists and turns, believable, moving, keeps you hanging on in all the right ways. A classic, imo. I simply could not put it down. I cannot recommend it enough.
Continual Colorful Suspense. Always had Reacher’s analytic brain focused on details and probabilities. Sympathetic victims and horrific villains all find just rewards. And Reacher disappears into the shadows.
Lee Childs. Another great one from Lee. Detail! Detail! Detail! Hard to put down.
The Hard Way. Compared to his other Jack Reacher books, this one was weak. The story moved very slowly, and Reacher engaged in no physical aggression until chapter 75 -- a real departure from his usual modus operandi. As with many of his other books, Child includes too many meaningless details. To me, they serve only as useless "filler." I found myself wishing the book would end, whereas I normally enjoy books in this series immensely.
The Hard Way. Another great Jack Reacher yarn. A little tedious in parts, but overall a fine read.
The Hard Way. Quick-paced; held my interest till last page. A perfect Jack Reacher thriller.
Great!. Thanks for the tour of England:).......another exciting and twisting "Reacher" adventure!
Good story line. Well written plot and pure Reacher.
The BEST!!. Love all of the Jack Reacher Books! Lots of characters to keep track of, but worth it . . spectacular, never expected ending! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Another great Reacher story. Can’t wait for the next one!. If you like the Reacher series, this one will not disappoint.
My Favorite So Far. Of the nine or so Reacher novels I read so far, this is my favorite. More mystery than wild action, the violence is minimal and all happens at the end. The happy ending is more satisfying than in other Reacher books, maybe because it happens for multiple characters. Enjoyable.
The Hard Way. Thought this author couldn't do it better than the last one? Think again.
