A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE: BOOK FIVE

In the aftermath of a colossal battle, Daenerys Targaryen rules with her three dragons as queen of a city built on dust and death. But Daenerys has thousands of enemies, and many have set out to find her. Fleeing from Westeros with a price on his head, Tyrion Lannister, too, is making his way east—with new allies who may not be the ragtag band they seem. And in the frozen north, Jon Snow confronts creatures from beyond the Wall of ice and stone, and powerful foes from within the Night’s Watch. In a time of rising restlessness, the tides of destiny and politics lead a grand cast of outlaws and priests, soldiers and skinchangers, nobles and slaves, to the greatest dance of all.

A Dance With Dragons. This book is a thrilling continuation of the already successful series. Dull moments are scarce in A Dance With Dragons which is refreshing after reading A Feast For Crows. There is nothing bad to say about this book. Buy it, read it, love it.

A Dance with Dragons. this book is a page turner, but I must say I hope this is not the last book in this series. If it is you will be highly disappointed. He leaves you hanging. There is no end.

Great book!. I love this book really great. I can hardly wait for the next one. It was totally engrossing! Read it Now!

Stunning. The depth, complexity, and myriad surprises make this book and this story a masterpiece. Not all of the surprises are necesarrily good, but they are surprises nonetheless. Wish I could read faster.

Never read the series but woah.... This series has 5,386 pages in total. You're welcome.

Wow. I tried like hell not to keep reading. I told myself I would just read Game of Thrones. When that was done, I said I would just read up to the Red Wedding and stop. That didn't work. So, I kept on reading. And then I started Dance with Dragons, and stupidly hoped that word would come that Winds of Winter had a release date. Alas, I have finished Dragons and it was phenomenal. Every bit of the excellence I have come to expect from Mr. Martin. If you are a fan of the show, read these books. They are just awe inspiring. If you are just an avid reader, read these books. You will not regret it.

Long…. This was really long and didn't seem to advance the plot forward at all. The last two books in the series were very slow, and often times tedious. My hope is that the next book will actually get some of the pace and excitement of the first three books back.

Amazing. I can't wait for the 6th! So many unanswered questions!

Avoid. Growing up I loved Lord of the Rings and Dragonlance so I thought I'd find some more fantasy books to get back into the genre. Found GOT and thought they had promise. Boy was I sadly sadly mistaken! Let me start by saying a good book takes me a few days to read, a week tops! This guys' book took me MONTHS to get through. Often I would read 2 or 3 books in between. So the length of boring material to filter through is ridiculous. Then the content if borderline horror/porn. So long boring and highly obscene! The first 3 books I give some credit to but the last two are the worst. The story is going no where and having to read over 1000 pages for nothing is not my idea of pleasure reading. I'd rather read the Tolkein books over again ad study for the LSAT than read another sentence from this guy. HBO just killed this current season too so all in all a great big waste of time.

Unusual to. UWe uhhnuuhu h u to in. No lo he JJ

A Dance With Dragons. Outstanding. Moves at a good clip, to keep the readers attention.

Oh no. I read all five of these books back to back, When is the next one to be released......Oh No

Good book. Too long.

Most Read. I read a few of the comments and hated some of the readers remarks on why is the writer adding so many new characters to the story. I personally feel that he is making the story that much interesting and keeps the readers guessing. When he kills a character, he always adds a new one. Can't wait to see what Winds of Winter will bring.

Better than the last book. Better than the last book, though it has too many subplots & little progress to the main story line.

It's to long. It's to long. It's flipping 1,100 pages!

WOW. Can't wait for the next book!

Amazing. One of the best series I've read.

Still Waiting. When I finished the last book in the "Fire & Ice" series there was a preview of "WINDS OF WINTER" with a publish date of sometime in 2014. Noticed when I downloaded an upgrade the date was replaced with a flippant comment about not knowing when winter is coming. It is the first time I have been disappointed by the author. After buying 5 books you would think the author would treat a dedicated fan better. Would like to read the next book but may have to rethink my love of George R R Martin. To bad you could have had me forever.

Dance With Dragons. I really enjoyed the first few books, but now I feel it's dragging on and on. I wonder if there is really an ending to this that will be satisfying. So many characters that I am left wondering about. Then I tried to find an estimated date for the next release and they said 2014 to 2017. I think I'm done reading from this author. The books are to slow to come out and to much recap (due to the time lapse of the release of each book). By 2017 I not going to remember all the plots and characters. I wonder what HBO will do when they run out of material. Maybe they will make up their own ending. I know I will.

The best. Amazing book all around absolutely great read must read the whole series

Good but..... The storylines need to much move faster. Seems like everyone is marking time while stuck in mud. Plus Martin really needs to stop killing off main characters who are good guys for once again, evil prevails in this book. If it weren't for HBO and their slick production and telling of the story, many fans would've fallen by the wayside. The Winds of Winter had better move the story along otherwise many of us will be looking for The Hot Rays of Summer.

Great. Loved it!

A Dance With Dragons. This book takes you to the mountains and the deepest canyons...just when you relax a little bit and feel the safety of your character, think again because the tide turns. I am anticipating the next book...it cannot come quick enough, for the characters I have grow to love are in peril!

The best -. Best fiction series I've ever had the pleasure of reading... Can't wait for the Winds of Winter!

Perfection. I don't care what anybody else says. In my opinion, every book in this series is amazing. I could not put these books down the whole time I was reading it. This is by far and away the most enthralling book that I've ever read.

Great read loved it ..... Now the wait. Topic

Predictable. Have now read them all after putting it down at "The Red Wedding". It seems to me that when he doesn't know what to do with a character, he kills him! To compare him to Tolkien is an insult. His description's of blood & gore are way over the top. his writing style is boring and would not be needed if he knew how to tell a good story. Too many character's and subplots going on. It is like he's not sure of where he's going, so he makes up a new one to try and figure it out. I will probably read the next one's, but I'm in no rush and I'm pretty sure I know what's going to happen. Winter is coming bringing dead guys that can be killed by fire and dragons that can breath fire? Take a guess!

.... I paid money for this and iBooks gives me some bs 'You can't read this because it was formatted incorrectly or isn't a format readable by iBooks'. This is such bull. Let me read the book.

Dragons who are half asleep.. More slowly draw out plots that are unlikely to ever be resolved. It's like Lost all over again. Followed up with the predictable failure of the good characters and the equally predictable triumphs of evil. Save yourself some time and read the synopsis online. Lastly, I feel that I could summarize all 5 books on a single page. Some how, with all that writing the story hasn't moved forward that much.

Fire and ice. This was one of the best set of books that I have read to date! My only complaint is, the ending! It left to much hanging in limbo.......!

This book nearly ruined my life.... ...because I simply could not put it down. And when I wasn't reading, I was thinking about it. "Dances..." is the best book yet. The only thing I didn't like was that it ended, but again, that was probably for the best. I got completely absorbed in this story. Now my watch for "Winds of Winter" begins.

A dance with dragons. This series is awesome !! I could not put the book down until I finished it! Can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Not as good as HBO. Pleasantly surprised that the storyline differs, but Martin seems limited in terms of adjectives and the story draaaaaggggggs on. Lots of seemingly superfluous dialogue and characters. Kudos to the HBO team for paring this down to the best parts and adding all the plot line twists Martin misses.

Different from the show. I watched the show first and the first books was like reading summaries. This book was way different and it makes me excited for the next book in the series. Whenever that may come out!

A great book. George is an incredible writer! I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out.

A great continuing volume in ASOIAF. One of my favorite books from my favorite season. This is such a great book and so full of surprises, intrigue, new characters and all of your favorites. After reading this book I literally can not wait until The Winds of Winter is released. A Dance with Dragons is slower but is packed full of fantastic writing and a continuation of the most epic story this generation of readers may ever know.

Amazing. Plain and simple one of the best stories I've ever read.

Amazing!. Mr. Martin I don't know how you keep all of those wonderful characters straight. You must have the entire realm in your head 24 hours a day. Your stories leave me wanting more. I can't wait for the next book!! Your simply one of the greatest story tellers of our time.

Love/Hate this story.. The fifth book is by far the best. Stuff actually happens. You can stop speculating, sort of. Martin always gives us several cliffhangers. Can't wait to find out who lives and who dies.

Out of all the books..... I started to loose interest in this book for some reason. I haven’t finished it yet. But I found the others better so far. Not just because of the show. The other books where just better. This one is leading to stuff... and maybe I just haven’t gotten far enough in. But something about this one... I have just kinda lost interest....

It's a journey, not a destination.. I can't stand the whining critics of this series. Ned and Robb Stark are dead; get over it. It's a good thing too because they were boring characters with no arc. If you want a fairy tale, watch a Disney movie or read LotR. DoD is my least favorite of the series because it stretches out too much, is depressing at times, and results in a cliffhanger. However, it is an excellent book despite these slight flaws. A Song of Ice and Fire holds up for me, unlike most other fantasy novels, especially Lord of the Rings (I used to like the series, but now I can't stand it or the Hobbit or hobbits in general). There are characters I prefer and characters I dislike but the story works that way. The diversity of characters makes the series interesting.

Winter is Upon us. I need more....don’t deny me, please!

Great book keep them coming.. I have finally finished Book 5. The storyline is great and R. R. Martin keeps producing great books. In the Game of Thrones series the good are good, bad are sly, and the politics of the realm are very ugly. Enjoy book 5 which together with book 4 wraps up a lot of ground at the same time.

Even better the second time.. Just reread all five of the Song of Ice And Fire. It's amazing just how much you miss the first time through. Be prepared for twists and turns until the very last page. I hope he finishes the next book soon.

The beast that lumbers. I am a huge fan of the first three Song of Ice and Fire novels. Things began to slow down with the fourth, A Feast for Crows, and with A Dance With Dragons, the tale seems like some great, lumbering behemoth who's moving at a snail's pace. Too many characters, subplots, and paragraphs upon paragraphs detailing what everyone is eating. It's time to move the narrative along, Mr. Martin. After more than 1,000 pages, hardly anything has really happened. I fear Mr. Martin has forgotten that it was the family saga of the Starks that gave the first three books such depth of emotion and brilliance. Now, this is a too-vast, too-sprawling episodic account of people we can barely remember, let alone care about. Get back to your saga' score, Mr. Martin. Write a book that pulls me through, not another that I have to push myself through.

Awesome. Great read

EPIC…. epic waste of time. Stay away.. The "Game of Thrones" series of books is absolutely terrible and frustrating. I just finished book 5 and am angry that I kept reading. Admittedly Martin has created an fascinating world and many great characters. I was hooked from the start and expected to finish the series loving the books. Instead I finished book 5 angry with myself for wasting all that time and with even more angry with the manipulative author. The main problem is that Martin ignores one of the basics of the story-telling arc. The Climax. Often referred to as "The End." If a story is to big to be told in a single novel, we have the tradition of the trilogy. In a series or a trilogy each book still wraps up most story lines with a hint of further challenges ahead. These books end with major characters and plot lines dropped for hundreds or even thousands of pages. After 5 books and several thousand pages, the fundamental story in still far from resolution. I feel manipulated. Martin has clearly concluded that he can milk us for the maximum amount of revenue without bothering to conclude this story. I read a lot and don't often write reviews. This series is a waste of time. Read "Dune", read Asimov's "Foundation Trilogy" read "Three Day Road", read anything. But for the love of all that is good about books, stay AWAY from this series. If I save even one reader with this warning it will all have been worthwhile.

Awesome!. Very well done! The only disappointment is that I must wait now for the next novel. Much and more will happen before that day.

A Dance of Dragons. This book was a disappointment. It is too long by about 30%, tells the same tale of violence repeatedly, and fails in character development and resolution. I am sorry I spent money on it.

Hated the book. I plowed thru all the minutia to the few nuggets of plot only to be left with no resolution to the story other than people were murdered (or did some survive?). I enjoyed the first 4 books but this was a chore to read with no evident ending.

Still waiting on the next one..... Read this almost 10 times now. Hurry up with the next one you old sack of brilliance -_-

Awesome. Part of the best series I’ve ever read.

Good, but accomplishes little. While a much more fulfilling read than Feast, the story does not push the plot much further and leaves many character arcs in the lurch. Martin says he wanted to finish it properly but didn't, and the novel suffers as a result. I wonder why the editor or published decided the novel was ready for release. I truly think Feast and Dance could have been condensed and concluded into a single novel. Good story but not quite complete.

Ibooks. Ibooks wont let me read the book, it's continuously paused and even when i delete the account and re-install, it's screwed up. This is the first time i've purchased a book from ibooks and will probably be the last. I'll stick to buying books in a book store, this is ridiculous..

Good. Good

My Review. I personally have read all 5 books of the Fire & Ice series. Mr. Martin is a great writer, no doubt. However, the fifth book, being ok in its own right, really didn't do much. Like a game of chess, the writer moved many of the pieces on the board into position, or towards a good position, but little else. For a book that measured at over 1000 pages, this is disappointing to say the least. The ending, however does have me somewhat interested for the next book. I just hope he does more to move the story along.

Review A Dance With Dragons. In a word "Robbed"

Disappointing. Don't read this novel if you value your time.. 3/4 of the book is about who's wearing what even though everyone's pretty much wearing the same thing with just different colours. Quality of the story is getting worse and worse with every book. All and all nothing happened after 1000 pages of words except one or two plots. Martin turned a good story into money milking piece of crap. Lord of the rings started and finished in 1500 pages but this series is almost nowhere after 5000. I never thought I'd regret reading this series until the this book.
